There are a good few stories in the historical record of people whose death might have been due to their use of ceruse or other poisonous cosmetics. One notable case was the death of the Countess of Coventry, who passed away in 1760 at just 28 years old. Sure enough, she'd been a regular user of ceruse.
Whether that was the precise cause of her death is uncertain... but the public certainly seemed to think the two were connected. Her passing was often referred to as "Death by Vanity"!

I think that'd make a great short. I've added it to the list, and will track down that documentary. I had no idea crocodile's lived quite so long... or that they could be so dangerous to humans!

2022-08-05 08:35:13 +0000 UTCNot sure if this could work as a short, but ever heard of Gustave (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustave_(crocodile) ). Gustave is a decades-old presumably deceased Nile crocodile who is said to have killed as much 300 humans. There have been attempts to capture him but to no avail. Also he's large (as much as 18.5 feet long and 2000 pounds) He was the subject of a 2004 PBS documentary called Capturing the Killer Croc, which centered on capturing him to study on him.
