Whenever I'm writing a script about an accident that took place on a ride, I always try to find a complete video of the ride in operation, so that I can see what it looks like during a normal run.
Here's a normal showing of America Sings from 1987. One interesting thing to note is that in this video there are no longer any in-person hosts on stage; they've been replaced with a voice over a PA system.
Here's a video of the Sailing Ship Columbia completing a circuit. It doesn't appear that the crew moor the boat at all now, and towards the end of the video you can see that some metal posts on the dock are screened off from guests by a row of wooden boxes.
Of course, these changes might have been made for any number of reasons... but it's interesting to think that one reason behind them might have been to make the rides somewhat safer.
