This cartoon was a (positive) mistake. Hear me out my friends.
Today I will do the last live stream before officially entering the coloring phase..and wow, It took a lot of time and effort to get here. So let's make the point of the situation;
My approach to this animation was something that diverged completely from my past works, and caught me completely off guard. Every time I sat down drawing, instead of finishing a scene in 3 hours, it took me 7 hours. I tried to chew so much more than I could eat, treating this with ambition as if it was handled by a team of animators, not thinking that I'm the only guy here. I didn't compromise on anything in the quality department though, and that's why this took so long. But now that it's fully animated, I realize that I was able to produce one of the most professional animations I've ever done in my career. The variety, fluidity, and usage of unique assets with minimum recycling of animations, makes this a truly professional video. Something that, if you guys didn't know it was made by just me, you would think it belonged to a regular TV show. Even the trailer itself right now is obsolete, since I changed and improved further the scenes featured in that too!
So I found myself in a dilemma in these past weeks, but I really didn't know what else to do because I was, and I am still, working every single day of the week, even Saturdays and Sundays. I even reduced drastically the animations streams on Twitch in order to avoid any distractions. After a couple of weeks of freaking out in my head ("what can I do? This is too much, I under-estimated everything!") I finally found balance. After all there's nothing else that I can do other than just....doing my best and be open and honest with you guys. I wish that every day had 32 hours though, but it's not the case and I have to just deal with it.
Coloring is so much more fun though. It flows naturally since it doesn't require painstaking precision and I'm able to finish multiple scenes everyday. It's literally a breath of fresh air and I can't wait to start coloring next week. I almost feel like a kid ready to have fun with his coloring book. Well, it's not actually that easy unfortunately, but you get my point! ^^'
With all this said though, now that the huge part of the work is done, the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction is something beautiful that puts a smile on my face. Although for the next animation, a.k.a PART 3 of Dork Souls 3 (which now is a reality, thanks to you, the supporters) I have to change my strategy. Either simplifying the drawings or employ someone to help me, if I'm able to.
It truly pains me to ask you guys to be patience, not only because I hate make people wait, but also, publishing a video between May and June is not even a good business strategy, since it's a terrible time of the year to publish content on Youtube. Although there's a positive: The Dark Souls Remaster (demaster?) comes out around that time, which can potentially boost the visibility of the video at least. We will see...
Moral of the story, I need you guys to trust me when I say that this animation, is something special. Please believe in me, I will not disappoint you! \o/
Almost forgot! Now that the release is getting closer, I will finally publish those promotional screenshots I was talking you about, so you guys can have a taste of what's soon to come.
Thank you all for believing in me, I hope you do.
