PATREON PRIORITY Q&A

With the Archie Sonic comics no longer being officially distributed, along with Sega’s habit of distancing itself from older Sonic properties, what do you think would be lost from Sonic’s legacy, if anything at all, if we lost access to or forgot about the Archie Sonic comics? Would we be losing a certain amount of heart or creativity from the franchise or was the comic’s tone and direction something better abandoned?

Hello Ian, I’m happy that you are still fighting to get the Freedom Fighters into the IDW comics and I’m glad you still like them. However, I heard that if the Freedom Fighters ever do appear in IDW, they’ll have to be redesigned for IDW due to the fact that the redesigns were made when the comics were being published by Archie and would be locked under their copyright claim. I don’t want them to be redesigned because personally, I liked the reboot designs for the Freedom Fighters, some fit them quite well, especially Sally’s. So, with this, will you please fight to gain legal rights to use the Archie reboot designs from Archie and use them for IDW? Please, because honestly, I cannot imagine Nicole as anything but a Holo-Lynx.

In regards to Sonic Genesis, was there a miscommunication for the battle in Final Zone between you and the artist? There was some sort of shield around Sonic that was apparently a bad thing, but it didn't seem to affect Sonic in any way. Rotor was also able to remove that shield by doing something outside the room. Am I right in assuming this was a miscommunication where you asked to have a shield around the room trapping Sonic and Eggman, but the artist accidentally interpreted it as a shield around Sonic? Regardless, what is the canon of this, and how was that shield harmful at all? Just what was the point of that shield?

what was the overall plan for the Tralius continent in general?

-Ian, i have just read Tangle and Whisper 2, and i'll admit that you are really making it awesome with those stories, especially with Mimic, so tell me should we expect seeing stories and characters like this in Season 3?

TBF

Ian, who was/were/is/are your favourite character(s) to write about during your career as a writer and why?

-This is almost definitely too obscure an Archie Sonic question, but would you happen to know any interesting tidbits about the Ancient Walkers? They're designs have a funny way of sticking in my head as I tend to relate them to background elements I see in classic Sonic zones.

Digamma

I've noticed that sometimes comic book writers also sketch out the visual breakdowns for pages. Some sonic relevant examples include Mike Gallahger and Caleb Goellner. Now my question is, are you one of those writers who sketches out breakdowns, or do you generally expect the artists to exercise a bit more freedom and just give them the plain script? Generally if a writer does it they go uncredited as such (unlike when an artist separate from both the writer and the artist doing the final pencils, like how Tracy Yardley was credited for breakdowns for sonic 185-186 and 197-198), and the only reason why we know they're an example or not is due to outside sources (like the Sonic Archives talking about Gallagher doing breakdowns, and the bonus material for the Team Sonic Racing one-shot talking about Gollener) so that's why I'm asking

Also I enjoyed this little Q&A keep up the good work.

Hey Ian Flynn, It's Tylerrenee M, I want to say I hope you've (and kyle) enjoyed the Jolly Merry Christmas, and very well hope you guys enjoy the new year ascending to 2020! Before My Big Question I Want To Test Your Big Brain, So.... Fun Fact: Did you know that Plato's Forms And Jungs Archetypes In NiGHTS Into Dreams? (A World Consistently Existing Along Sonic's World, In Shuffle, Adventure And Lost World) It was confirmed by Yuji Naka And Takashi Lizuka when they researching the theories of existence, dreams and the mind, they came up and went with Freud, Holtz and Jung, NiGHTS a character that was born in the archetype of the shadows of all our dreams and the world of dreams was formed. Now as for my question (which I've probably asked before); You've done some writing when it came to the Sonic Boom TV Show, Right? If so I'd see you as a source of credibility regarding this topic, There's some crazy easter eggs, knock ins, details and references that Boom handles very well, this interesting one that caught my round eyes is within the episode that goes by the name "Two Good To Be True" which many (including my colleagues and other associates) have theorized to be linked to one thing and obviously to us was the case, it was the reference/inclusion of many worlds theory, here's the quotes: Tails: Also, I just figured out that this guy is from another dimension! Sonic: Another dimension? You mean with duplicates of each of us? (referring to many worlds' duplicate phenomenon, correct me if I'm wrong) Tails: For years, it's been theorized that a Mirror Dimension exists parallel to our own (like in many worlds, a universe existing like a mirror parallel to another is many worlds) now the way and process it was delivered when explaining ones world and the possibility of another and how it exists specifically as a parallel of not just another version of a person but a much considered to be a "duplicate" of another space which splits, with said space of dimension being considered a world itself that my sir is many worlds theory or the multiverse boom uses, is this analysis of sonic boom using that idea of the multiverse correct? did tails' use that idea/slate of the multiverse theorem or something different? for less difficulty just answer if it's the idea of (that) multiverse or not to confirm. honestly this reminds me of parallels from star trek or flash of two worlds (arrowverse version), in the similar way tails describes the contrast of the two knuckles' is about the same way the two latters portray the difference of their universes due to many worlds/quantum theory."
