PRIORITY Q&A

Taryn Urban (Ko-Fi)

Hi Ian and Kyle! Ian, thanks for your tremendous work on Sonic and breathing new life into a series I've adored since childhood. My question is: what field of study is Dr. Starline's PhD in?

Silly Rookie (Ko-Fi)

Hiya! What do you feel is the most important lesson you've learned about your creative medium? Specifically outside of the work-for-hire factors, I'm more asking about the craft.

Papdripopolous

I think generally especially in the modern day, it's not expected or considered acceptable of employers to have their employees badmouth them publicly. This is obviously overall not ideal for the worker, and can lead to a feeling of having to hold back immensely on what you say- imagine being a notable Ubisoft employee who thinks Assassin's Creed sucks, you're not gonna go say that on Kotaku; or even Sonic-wise, note how people consider it remarkable that the Sonic Twitter would even just hint at Sonic 06 not being good, and this only a decade after. With that in mind, this podcast over the years has repeatedly thrown reasonable barbs and opinions against Sega and the Sonic series, from more explicitly calling Sonic 06 a bad game to the constant repetition of themes like "Sega doesn't know what they're doing" regarding Two Worlds, Shadow, etc etc. Obviously that hasn't been overall a problem or this wouldn't still be going on years later, and it's obviously good that you get to be genuine about your opinions. It makes me wonder though- have you ever gotten any internal notes from Archie or IDW or Sega going "Some exec heard you or your podcast co-host said X badly about them, or said Y and caused a lot of fans to insult us" and gotten in hot water over it?

Hey Ian, do you remember your favouritest Sonic cartoon ever, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog? Of course you do! One episode from that show was called "Sonic is Running," and featured Dr. Robotnik running for President and Sonic doing the same just to try and prevent Robotnik from taking power. Since the entire world seems to be obsessed with some election [...] (I can't imagine why), what do the two of you think presidential campaigns from the modern day versions of Sonic and Eggman would be like? I know you guys usually try to avoid politics on the show, but hey, Adventures set the precedent for this question.

Ian, If Tangle and Whisper had anti-mobius counterparts, what would their names be along with their personality and story?

SEGA says that the Hero Path in Shadow the Hedgehog is the canon pathway, but many Sonic fans disagree on that. What the fans agree with the most is that the true canonical pathway to Shadow the Hedgehog path goes like this; we have Shadow going neutral before remembering his time on Prison Island, to remembering Maria from Black Doom's intervention, to Shadow thinking that he was an android, and Eggman even telling him that, to confronting the GUN Commander where he reveals that Gerald created Shadow with help from Black Doom, to finally facing and defeating Eggman, and he doesn’t kill him. Shadow ends up in The Last Way anyway where some of the events would be referenced/brought up, including the whole android ordeal where Eggman admits that he lied about Shadow being one. Any thoughts on this?

Human x Mobian relationships. How do you think they'd be viewed in-world? Would they be biologically compatible? Would the offspring be one or the other species, or some kind of freaky mutant monster? Given the answer I got in the last Bumblekast regarding humans and Mobians residing on entirely different planets, consider this question to be entirely hypothetical based on the assumption that the two species did coexist as seen in the Archie comics and games because lol #twoworlds

In the Archie books, we got the Zone cops with Zonic, Zector, Zobotnik ETC. If they existed, what would be the names of the zone cop counterparts of the Deadly Six, Zavok and so on?

AwesomeCakester

is Maria still canon? Shadow has a very different image in Sega's eye now and it brings into question if they still consider her important, even if just as something for Shadows back story.

Can a Power Core run out of whatever it runs on? If so, how would Dr. Starline recharge his new Tricore, or would he have to replace it?

All the way back in Sonic Universe #7 and #8, we saw the one-and-only appearance of the fusion of Tikal and Chaos known as Tikhaos, who was being quarantined by King Shadow and Queen Sally under Castle Mobius. However, the whole reason for the two being fused into one was never explained, and I'm wondering two things: what was the reason for them being fused into one being (if there was one), and how did the idea of Tikhaos come into being?

In the IDW universe of Sonic, does Knuckles ever ask people to look over the master emerald when he's away from it similar to how he did in the Archie Sonic continuity? Seriously, without anyone on Angel Island, there's nothing preventing anyone from stealing the Master Emerald.

-There’s a strange paradox with Authors about how they can approach a character and make them a representation of their own viewing of the world and, somehow, an entity that loves on their own; completely separate from the author with almost an independent existence. How do you approach this paradox?

About the Sonic Encyclospeedia On your part and Dark Horse; will it have Things like Stay Sonic, 06, Rivals, Spinball, Knuckles Chaotix, Chronicles and the Martin Adams Books? (It takes place after Stay Sonic and in between 2 and 3). Will it explain the Types and Levels of Parallel Universes, Time Travel and Possibility things from things like Rush, CD, and Shadow The Hedgehog? Will it include all the canon/express stuff and details that is in Sonic Lore or just the Basic Compilations to understand?

Not aware of what Stay Sonic Is? http://info.sonicretro.org/Stay_Sonic

These are the Books and what they’re all about (James Wallis Wrote most of them) https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Martin_Adams

If the Freedom Fighters ever came back, whether that be in comics, games, or whatever, do you think it would be best to keep them together as a team or split them up as separate characters around the world? Like Rotor being a mechanic friend of Tails, Bunnie being a hairdresser, etc? Also, would Bunnie and Antoine still be married? Or would that all have to be undone because it happened in the Archie comics?

Darkness rising24

Hey Ian, will there ever be an arc that takes place in Silver's future? I'd love to see what he gets up to when he's not chilling in the past.

RealSethery

When it comes to writing your projects, like Mega Man and Sonic Universe for example, each story arc was 4 issues in total, and managed to tell a complete story. as a fledgling comic writer myself I ask how do you accomplish this? What strategy do you use to make sure a story can begin and end with just 4 15-20 page parts?

Common Writer Four Zed

I have a question for Kyle!  What is your opinion about video game vinyls? Do you have any soundtracks you would like to see get a vinyl record release?
