Tom Cruise and his TENET Advertisement
Added 2020-08-26 19:36:48 +0000 UTCI don't know if ya'll caught that weird Tom Cruise video of him wearing a mask and seeing TENET with a crowd of people, but I urge you to watch. It's a desperate campaign. I find it disturbing and selfish of the film industry to encourage people to put their friends and family at risk for a theatrical experience. Especially when there is an option of streaming at home. This clinging to a nostalgic time when luxuries like this mattered bothers me. This country is spoiled and unwilling to do the work to help flatten the curve. We want a quick positive result without any of the sacrifice. Just a bunch of complaining about wanting things to return to normal. To me, this is careless and disturbing. Celebrities think that they are some golden beacon that the public will blindly follow, as if they are political leaders or royals, while movie industries refuse to accept a changing landscape and relinquish the movie mogul ego of the past. Months ago, it was a "stay home" campaign. Suddenly, it's an abrupt switch to "Let's go to the movies!" Why? Have things improved? Certainly not! The pandering, the manipulating, the inability to change your thinking for the safety of Americans....none of this sits well. I will not go to the movies to see TENET or anything else for two main reasons. First and foremost, because I choose not to put the people in my life that I love at risk. But second of all, I choose to do so as a symbol, as a way of protesting against behavior by a large corporation that I find to be morally repugnant. Of course each person will do what they wish, but I ask you to please be mindful and considerate of the situation. An enclosed space sharing ventilated air for two to three hours is a risk. Be safe and aware of the consequences, especially for others.

This is just yet another way Cruise demonstrates his detachment from reality.

2020-08-27 02:36:12 +0000 UTCI thought he was gonna delay it originally
swift minus one
2020-08-27 01:16:24 +0000 UTCI mean, that's his choice. Can always delay it a while. I think interest would still be maintained and it would still make money if they waited a while. It would certainly be safer.

2020-08-26 22:15:47 +0000 UTCThis doesn't surprise me. I just deleted all my social media because hearing all this crap about people who know nothing about being a reasonable, decent human being even though the world is going to hell is badly affecting my well being. All I gotta say is no wonder suicide rates are higher than ever. I'll still be a Patreon and watch your videos though.

swift minus one
2020-08-26 21:57:12 +0000 UTCI also think that Nolan's refusal to go to VOD is reprehensible. It makes me want to see the film less than ever.

2020-08-26 20:01:04 +0000 UTCThat clip was unsettling to say the very least. His whole demeanor was so off-putting. "See guys, I'M doing it. We've all suffered long enough, it is time for everything to go back to normal now", when in reality, we still have a long way to go. I will not be stepping foot inside of a movie theatre until we feel 100% confident that people's lives are no longer at risk. There is no going back to normal. This was beyond irresponsible of him and those involved in pushing this narrative that "we've suffered long enough".
