Well, much as I predicted... the lockdowns have arrived in Fengxian! We could see the wave rolling towards us over the past few days - all of Yan's friends around Shanghai one by one reporting that they were being locked down.

So... nothing to be worried about. We can't go in or out of our housing compound for a few days. They'll test everyone during that time. And assuming everyone becomes back "negative," they'll open the gates again. In the meantime, we have plenty of food. And if we need more stuff, we can always order from outside.
Not a big deal for my family since we work at home anyway. And the neighbors I've talked to this morning aren't really bothered. This is just life in Shanghai these days.

2022-03-16 21:58:25 +0000 UTCEverything is still functioning - like we can order groceries and retail products from outside and still have those things delivered. Only difference is we have to go to the front gate to retrieve the deliveries (or wait for property management to deliver them). Some aspects of *our* delivery systems have been impacted though... one of our warehouses is in Shenzhen and so any items ordered at Mysterious fulfilled from that location will experience a few days of delay. But things are already going back to normal.

Though you did mention being able to order things still so I assume some jobs are still operating, even at a slower level than used to.

I even thought it would of been common sense to do what China does but, i guess other places were more worried about capital loss over life loss. Which is madness. Im from Cheshire in the UK and, altough mostly rural, probably had more deaths in just this county alone than in China. Just glad to know your all safe and i guess all that can be expected is to ride it out and keep spirits up. Personally i find that "isolation births creation", its always an opportunity for creativity!! :D stay safe.

To date, the US has recorded 958,621 deaths from Covid. China has recorded 4,636. Being locked down for a few days as part of the system that's helped China avoid mass deaths... is not a bad thing.
