This is a great comedic romp of an episode, and very much an antidote to the trauma of Roseโs departure, while still paying homage to her here and there. Donna is something of the antithesis of Rose - raw, shouty and angry much of the time, but still with a heart as shown towards the end. Really looking forward to series 3!

Donnaโs line โCauseโ sometimes I think you need someone to stop you.โ really sums up a vital part of the companionโs role, itโs such a prophetic line. It recalls Ecclestonโs Time War scarred Doctor holding a huge gun, standing in front of the lone Dalek and Rose chastising him โWhat have you become Doctor?โ The times the companion has stopped the Doctor from going too far. 2019-12-22 23:02:46 +0000 UTCDonna is one of my favourite almost-companions and it was a shame that Tate couldn't commit to a full-time part. The amount of character development they gave her in one episode was excellent and you're right, she got the comedy and the pathos balance just right for Doctor Who. I quite like this episode, but mostly for the chemistry between her and Tennant.
