Version 2 dome finished

All done, we've got all the parts to completely finish the CSR accurate dome. No supports needed for the main dome, all supports incorporated in the design. 2 versions for larger and smaller beds. All panels recessed so the panels can be 4mm thick and much easier to print on there end (which improves the resolution). Most parts print nicely at .3 layer for speed. Both rings have dovetail joints and all fitted together with 4mm bolts / nuts whilst gluing. The lower ring also has holes for 450mm lazy susan (however can be drilled if fittings are different). Radar eye, holoprojectors and logic lights all included. The logic lights have recesses for the lens and bezels along with holes for teeces boards. I think we've got everything covered and I've tested printed it myself to make sure it's OK. You will need supports for some of the panels and greebles, unfortunately it's not possible to have supportless without cutting them up too much. Enjoy, will publish the instructions later this weekend. I'm going to look at the lazy susan and options next...

Found it!!! Thanks again for all the excellent work you're doing on this. I need to post my pictures of my first dome. I'm going to start printing it again with the larger files so I have fewer seams, and I'm going to finish and donate the first one to our local maker space :)

Hi, I've moved them to the open share, they're all there. As I design and release new models I put them on the Patreon share to give a few weeks advance access to Patreons. The link for the open share is on the 'about' page. Any probs drop me a message.

I was trying to find the larger versions of the dome on the patreon share but couldn't find them?? I remember just quickly looking at them a month or so ago but didn't download them then.

it would be great if parts were designed for smaller beds. Wouldn't that cut down the warping? Plus, putting the many pieces together would be like Legos.

Netfab or mesh mixer are two great applications which allow you to easily split component parts.

Hi, the small accommodate 200 x 160 I think, so 120 x 120 is quite small. There's software to split the parts for a smaller bed or I could do an even smaller cut. It would've a whole heap of parts for the dome though.

Michael Baddeley

what size print bed does the small accommodate? My printer is the Monoprice Select Miniwith 120mm square bed

You're the man!! Gonna test it now!

Hi there, posted on the community page and added a wider cut lower ring to the files (exactly same external dimensions) to test. I'm assuming not all 18 inch lazy susans are the same size.

Michael Baddeley

could not out the pics here, so please take a look in the "community"page.. would you ? <a href="https://www.patreon.com/user/community?u=4294285">https://www.patreon.com/user/community?u=4294285</a>

friends, just printed the rings.. but when I tried to fit a 18 inch Lazy Susan.. does not fit (see the pics). Nor does not fit right or when I "open" the ring to fit it, i get this gap. any clue ?? do you think the shrinkage of ABS could generate this much ??? I stucked here...

where is the public folder with links? for this please i cant see it lol... loving this..

Yeah! Going to print the rings right now!!!

Cheers Mark, I'm very happy with the print also. The centre seam has always been a bit of a bugbear for me (I've seen some superb domes but it does take some work).

This is awesome! Thanks. I had printed v1 and was fighting with finishing it nicely (tons of bondo and primer - especially around trying to truly smooth out the seam that you have now gotten rid of). I just started printing v2 (instead of completely finishing the v1) and so far it is awesome. Thanks for all of your work on this!
