Lore Premium Has Arrived

Greetings, faithful listeners!

Big changes have arrived here. Beginning today, memberships options have been simplified to just one single $5 tier, and many of the benefits of the old $10 tier have been brought into the new list of rewards. And I'd like to walk you through a few of them.

Ad-Free Lore Episodes

This is an oldie, but a goodie. Paid members get access to a private podcast feed (a member-specific RSS link that's visible in a box at the top-right of the main Lore page), and in that private feed are premium audio shows.

The first of those is the normal Lore podcast, but without the ads. You'll still get the gorgeous, fully-produced episodes, along with the Epilogue tale at the end, but without needing to listen to our sponsor advertisements. If you're a purist, or you plan to binge the entire series run, this is a huge time saver.

But there's more...

A Whole New Podcast

Paid members will soon find a brand new podcast in their premium audio feed. It's called Behind the Lore, and it's a companion podcast to the main Lore series. Think of it as a hybrid of a behind-the-scenes tour of each new episode, and a bit of DVD director commentary.

Behind the Lore will be released on the Monday's between new Lore episodes, and each new edition will feature a conversation between Lore creator Aaron Mahnke and the research responsible for the most recent Lore episode. They'll range from 30-45 minutes, and will provide unprecedented access to the methods and decisions that go into crafting each new episode of Lore.

Early Lore Live Ticket Access

There is a new Lore Live tour in the works for 2019, and that means new venues and new stories that you'll only be able to hear live and in-person. Most of the live shows in the past have quickly sold out, and we wanted to make sure that Lore Premium members get priority access to those tickets.

So, one the locations and dates are announced, we'll work with our tour promoter to get early access just for Lore Premium members. A chance to grab your favorite seats before they sell out to the general public. Stay tuned for those announcements, only visible here to paid members.

Lore Shop Discount

As always, we want Lore fans to save a bit of cash on their favorite Lore merchandise. There's a lot of new stuff headed to the store over the next year, and your discount (new codes monthly) will help you grab them at a lower price than the general public.

Episode Sources

As of today, we're closing down the Epitaph, the Lore email newsletter, making Patreon membership the only way to get insider news, exciting updates, and notes from Aaron. But the biggest shift is the episode source list.

Every episode of Lore dips into a long list of source material to build an accurate and engaging narrative--but there's always more to learn. So for those who are interested in digging deeper into the topics discussed on Lore, the Further Reading list is a great tool.

Look for your Further Reading list at the bottom of future ad-free Lore posts, starting today.

Just the Beginning

And there you go—a brief tour of all the goodness that comes with your Lore Premium membership. But there's more to come. Patreon has some great new features in beta that we're hoping to test in the coming months, and they will allow us to offer even more exciting rewards.

As always, thanks for your loyal, generous support. It helps make the business of running Lore possible, and it creates a community that makes all the hard work worth it. From me and the entire Lore team...thank you!

Signed up! I teach high school history and every day my students ask "What was your podcast about today?" So I give them a short version of whatever the story was on Lore or Cabinet. I love it and many of them now listen to it on their own time. Love it! Keep up the amazing stories!

Beth Edwards

Aaron, thank you for all you do! Lore is one of the first podcasts I listened to, and it remains one of my very favorites. Also, enjoy Cabinet of Curiosities and Unobscured! Keep up the great work!

Yep, sounds like an issue on your end, unfortunately. I’d give them a shout. Until that’s fixed, you can still listen on the website, or through the Patreon mobile app. Thanks!

Aaron Mahnke

Unfortunately, there isn't a member-specific RSS link provided in the top-right corner of www.patreon.com/lorepodcast. Do I need to contact Patreon's tech support team to see why isn't provided?

Brian Suttles

As I wrote in the post, the "member-specific RSS link that's visible in a box at the top-right of the main Lore page". Just go to Patreon.com/lorepodcast and look at the top-right. You'll see the link. Just copy and paste into your favorite podcast app, or listen in the Patreon app, or on the website.

Aaron Mahnke

how do I get to the ad free podcast?

Andrea Michalak

Yep, your Audio RSS is for all audio rewards. So it should automatically start receiving Behind the Lore when the first episode publishes next Monday. Thanks!

Aaron Mahnke

It seems my RSS URL is the same as where the Lore Extras were published before. Is that link going to stay and just have the new content, or will that change once things get all updated? Just curious if I need to check that URL again later, or just wait for the current one in my podcast app to start showing new stuff.

Chris Gaboury

Ok. That explains why it just worked - thanks. Regards, David

David Ricker

Yeah, the Patreon system might take a while to update across their apps. And I haven't deleted the $10 tier yet, just "unpublished" it to prevent future sign-ups. Working on that now.

Aaron Mahnke

When I go to edit my Lore tier level to the new one the App still shows the old tiers.
