FIRST LOOK – Lore + YouTube

As promised, here's the first edition of Lore on YouTube, filmed today and given a simple production treatment.

Nothing fancy or too far from the audio version of the podcast, because I want people who find the show on YouTube to feel "at home" if/when they move over to the podcast.

Alright, let me know what you love about it, and maybe tomorrow I'll introduce it to the world.

Great point made already. I would focus on supporting visuals to the story as much as possible but it is great to see you tell the story directly. Thank you for all of the variety of storytelling you and the team continue to produce.

Oh man, this was Great! I loved seeing the Wizard behind the curtain!!!

This definitely has great potential. As a previous commenter noted, including maps/photos/etc. would improve the experience, but I don't think that the lack of them is detrimental at all. You're doing great, Aaron! And also all the love to the rest of the Grim and Mild team! (Allie is doing a great job with the Behind the Lore episodes!)

Love this concept! Look forward to you perfecting it (i.e. less rushed, more movement). Sound and video quality great. Versatile in that one can watch with video or just listen : ) Thank you!

Fabulous Aaron. Your enthusiasm is infectious and it puts a whole new feel to listening to the tale. A huge thumbs up 👍

I thought this was fab. The simple approach and light production touch both work well, and the title cards and the quote being onscreen were both helpful as a viewer. You said you wanted people to feel “at home” moving between this and the pod, and I think you nailed it - it enhances the experience without making the podcast seem like a “lesser” version.

Kevin Kirkman

I agree with Beth & Justin - some pictures and/or illustrations would be good, but overall, I like it!

Lynn Scarnati

Adore this! I love having the body language to go with the story. I agree some pictures would be awesome but this is great! A lot more engaging. I'll probably listen to the podcast on my commute and watch it too.

Beth Edwards

Video and audio quality are both really good, and you are an excellent narrator. I love listening to the podcast, but in a video I would really love to see some maps and photos to give me as the viewer a better vision of the people, places, and creatures that you are telling us about. A good example of this would be the YouTube channel "Today I Found Out", hosted by Simon Whistler or even his channel "Megaprojects". I realize all of this takes a lot of time to put together and there might be some financial restrictions and copyrights issues that make this more challenging but I really do believe that it would really boost the popularity of your videos if you are able to add a little more to them than just you sitting down and telling your story.

And don’t forget to say hi, he likes it when you say hi! I’m loving it too Aaron

I’m really digging this! I feel like I’ve envisioned you saying, “I’m Aaron Mahnke and this, is Lore” too many times to count! To see it, was a treat.
