The Proposal (page 17)

Does it help or hurt knowing this is what lead Mansa to future events?

He should.

Ahh, communication. Always a good idea. I agree.

Atelerix

It helps in a way that hurts 🫠

Glissando365

AUGHHHH I'll just. Go bang my head against a wall for a while. Ack.

Ashfae

Does Mansa kinda blame Thomas for suggesting it?

Little0cean

Honestly I really wish Mansa could just talk about this with Song. Like “here the situation. This is what I want for me and for us, and I also want you to feel happy and comfortable. What do you think?”

Annie

But song is committed! It's sad Thomas is so disconnected from his infernal heritage that he doesn't appreciate the lariat tradition and its meanings.

Aurelia

It’s definitely not a great impact but Etty straightens the two out

Whiteley Foster

It hurts a lot, oh boy

Amber Stewart

I had to re-read the previous version first and I say ouch! Poor Mansa, poor Song and poor Thomas too.

Susanne mizz_uzie Olsson

stressed noises 😭

This actually makes it hurt worse. I sort of felt like it was impulsive but celebratory the first time. Now I’m wondering how it impacts Mansa and Thomas’ friendship after Song leaves

sparksearcher

Hurts and helps both. Does Mansa ever feel anger or blame towards Thomas for what he’s said and where his advice winds up leading?

Sarah H

Oh it hurts so bad

Neil K.

Ohhhhh then I look forward to finding out 👀

Little0cean

Hurts a bit. I mean ... we all know that Mansa loves Song and does want to marry him. But ... I feel like he was rushed into it by politics.

Vala

That may be a bit too spoilery!

Whiteley Foster

What’s his opinion? I can imagine that disappointed is part of it. Dating someone for 10 years only for them to disappear one night without a note sure sounds like a huge disappointment. Also does Song ever regret not writing a note? And why didn’t he write one?

Little0cean

He definitely doesn’t just blindly believe that infernals are disloyal or abandon their families/partners on a whim, and he does believe Song will come back, but after 4 years it’s hard to keep that hope alive. It doesn’t tarnish his opinion or views of infernals at all, just his opinion of Song

Whiteley Foster

It’s nice to finally have some clarity on what lead to Mansa proposing. But it also hurts because Thomas accidentally planted a lot of doubts into Mansas mind. Like infernals not coming back if they run away. Is that something Mansa believes? Or does he hope that Song comes back one day?

Little0cean

I think it helps a lot. We know Thomas was a bit blunt in saying that but he's right. They don't need money to get married. They are already committed and they both know it. But in the real world, sometimes that annoying piece of paper IS necessary. It might not be what they planned, but getting married now can help them avoid troubles in the future (aka, more suitors, Mansa getting the stink eye, Song getting harrassed....) Mansa tried his best to make their lives easier, playing the hand he was dealt.

the.kitsuneko

answering your question, probably both? bc all the parallels and core differences with what Algie was saying and what happened that night definitely hurt, but also, knowing Mansa's motivation and situation background make it all make sense in a way, so it helps ❤️

sick_pineapple

Oh Mansa
