Question that might result in technique Videos if needed.
Added 2018-11-28 23:51:05 +0000 UTCSo, for those of you who have been watching a wide range of my videos so far, is there a thing (you can of course name multiple things) that you feel like you saw me do a few times but have not quite understood yet?
You guys know that my painting style is one that - even though not at all cost - tends towards smoothness and I realise that my painting therefore is more about brush control and paint consistency, than trademark painting techniqes or shortcuts like capibases or loaded brush.
There usually is not a lot of questions about the videos, so either everything is totally clear and transparent in the footage, however I am not so arrogant to believe that ;) The other option is that people have questions, but don't quite dare to ask them. So I invite you all a) to ask questions, even if you think it might be insignifcant and b) think about what I said innitially: What thing that I do, that gives me the results I get, have you not quite understood and want to figure out?
You can reply to this post, or write about it on the discord. I will take all comments and try to analyze them for returning patterns and then make a few shorter, easier accessible videos for more basic tips and tricks, to make your learning experience better.
Looking forward to your comments!

2019-01-26 12:09:00 +0000 UTCBlending, especially where contrast is important. Dark shadow to lighted surface blending across simple shapes, for example -a marine shoulderpad is still difficult for me to achieve consistently. I know where the light should be (spherical distribution) but always seem to get visually apparent edges between layers. Thanks for asking!

2018-12-05 13:53:46 +0000 UTCYes, I am about half way through editing that video, I definitely want to finish it this month. I don't know if choice miniature matters that much beyond that it is always a good idea to take a new release over a 10 year old model. and spacemarines, always spacemariens.

2018-12-05 13:42:56 +0000 UTCI am very very looking forward the video you told time ago about Golden Demon and what the jury have in consideration. Also, how to choose the miniature wich to present it, what kind of miniatures, requisites, are convenient . Thanks for your work!

2018-12-04 04:49:35 +0000 UTCI have not watched him do it, it has only been described to me. To me it sounds like applying a thicker coat/layer of a (mostly) intense color and then using the airbrush to smooth out the gradient, but keep a lot of the intensity of the layer below. Of course that works best with an AB, but you can also do it with a brush. And no, I don't use an airbrush, I am a firm believer in brush control :) (does not mean i am anti-airbrush, personally I just don't have the need to use it).

2018-12-03 10:06:07 +0000 UTCokay, i will put it on the list :) personally i only use wetblending on basecolors to get innitial gradients, because for other things I don't find you have enough control over the results. But yeah, with thin paint it doesnt work.

2018-12-03 10:01:05 +0000 UTCPaint consistency for wet blending is another mystery to me. I've seen several videos that state that wet blending should be done with thicker paint, but no-one explains why that is.

2018-12-03 07:27:53 +0000 UTCI've heard you make reference to Sergio's capibases technique a few times, and say things like, "this is like the capibases technique." I would be interested in learning more about this technique. Sergio's videos always seem to go halfway, and he never seems to fully explain it. On top of that, he doesn't speak very good English either. I don't recall you picking up an airbrush ever (but then again, I haven't seen all your videos yet). This is a technique I am interested in. I am essentially a novice though. I pick things up quickly, it's just finding the time to paint more. I mostly watch your videos Bob Ross-style, for the pure enjoyment of watching a master.

2018-12-03 07:26:00 +0000 UTCI am not a huge believer in color theory, but i can give my reasoning behind what i do with these things. will add it to the list!

2018-12-01 14:14:16 +0000 UTCOne Question that always seems to pop into my mind when watching videos. its how you go about selecting colors. In the case of single areas (choosing shadow/base/ highlight) and also overall composition

2018-12-01 10:11:05 +0000 UTCyeah, we talked about that since a while. Putting it on the list!

2018-12-01 08:43:35 +0000 UTCHow to avoid chalkiness and what to do when it happens. Itโs still a problem that creeps into my work sometimes. Also what causes it.

2018-11-30 00:32:36 +0000 UTCI agree with sergio... I found my way and I know my "weapons" but I would be interested in this kinda topic. Maybe a video where you specifically show your way to do a part of a mini (no matter wich one, the palette and so on) showing how you solve the problems you find doing it (non smooth transitions, lumps, whatever)

2018-11-29 14:20:04 +0000 UTCi am happy with the videos as they are...but i would not mind having a special class about glazes...correct dilution...or differences between the different kind of color brandsโฆ.how do you treat scale 75 paints...they are a bit tricky...
