I think you're right after re-reading my dev comment. (barely remember writing it in the game tbh) I think I was mentally thinking about carried-ball games like rugby in general, rather than a American Football in particular. Association football is undeniably older than AmerFootball by a few decades. Of course, it was called American Football because it was different from football, which was also different from Association Football. Anyhow, I was trying to stave off the "it's called football" comments, so I'll definitely try to go fix that soon!

Yes, there are variations on these sports that have existed for a very long time, that's true. Now we're specifically talking about the sports "association football" and "american football", however, and there is no evidence to support the claim that the latter is older than the former. Moreover, there IS evidence to support that "football" is an older term than "soccer" for the sport association football. Soccer is in fact a word derived specifically from "association".

Remember we are talking specifically about sports called "football" in English. There are variations of kickball dating back to before English as a language existed, such as as Cuju in China in the 3rd century AD. Football in English is often victim to a false etymology, people assume that foot-ball indicates a game where you use your foot to kick a ball. Instead, the actual etymology is to a game played "on-foot" as in by running around as opposed to the similar games played on horseback in the medieval period. These games existed at least as early as the 12th century, but evidence suggests earlier variants existed as well. These games involved carrying a ball, by hand, and running with it towards a certain goal area. In general, the ball touching the ground was banned, and kicking the ball wasn't allowed except during certain portions of play. These games, called football, eventually helped spawn Association football hundreds of years later. While association football is often credited as the origin or source of rugby and similar games, this isn't the case, as these games existed prior to association football in a different form. The real triumph of association football was setting out a strict coda and organization for play, basically universal rules. Prior to this, football rules were largely a local affair, which made competition between geographically separate places extremely difficult. Association football provided a model of a codified set of rules for play, and a system of organizing teams, that was then adopted by other football games due to its success.

Noted a dev comment in the park saying this; "Yes. I am aware that most of the world incorrectly calls soccer football, and calls football American Football. Because American football existed as a game named football well before the game soccer was nicknamed football, it's ridiculous to ask for a correction." This simply isn't true. Association football is an older sport than American football, and the latter in fact evolved from the former as well as rugby. Moreover, the term "football" is older than "soccer", not the other way around.

Check the NPC generator. There were lots of errors on that page for some reason. Starting with the gender ratio which returns a "ERROR: Custom Radio Macro first arg must be a variable name (missing $or_)." message.
