BTS Beyond The Stars Episode 5

Comments

RE: COVID and the LA PTD concerts. I read through the comments, and I think people are forgetting COVID timeline a bit. This concert series began the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend 2021. California was still in pretty strict lockdown, but they did allow concerts - but mask wearing was still required in public. My daughter and I went to the first concert, and we also went to Disneyland/California Adventure the day before. Within mere DAYS of when we got back (like maybe a couple of days), there were news stories about a new, more virulent strain fo COVID - the first new strain, in fact. Things in the US locked back down quite a bit with that strain for a month or two until we had an updated vaccine. So, BTS got this concert series in just under the wire before things closed back up a bit. (As an aside, BTS didn't have four days in a row of concerts...it was Sat/Sun (Nov 27/28), then two days off, then Wed/Thurs (Dec 1/2).) My daughter and I went on Saturday, November 27 and flew to LA from Knoxville, TN. Also, at this point the guys knew that Jin's military service was beginning, and they were already starting to focus on their solo projects some; you can tell that by occasional comments from the guys over the next few months. The Vegas concerts weren't planned until the success of these concerts was noticed by the City of Las Vegas, who then pitched the "turn Vegas purple" concept to the BTS team. Jin kept pushing his military enlistment out as the guys made new commitments to new opportunities - the LA concerts, then the Grammys/Vegas concerts, then the Yet to Come concert. At that point, they finally ran out of time and Jin HAD to enlist before the end of December 2022.

Lisa

a few videos I recomend are Jin's festa event and Suga's D-Day concert, as well as his last Suchwita, which is with his bestie, who produces alongside Suga on many songs, and was on the tour with him.

Peri

I thought I'd provide some links related to Jin's discharge + Festa Event the day after just in case you need any help to find it. - Jin being greeted by the other members(minus Suga who stayed in the car, the reason has to do with his type of service and how it's viewed socially, especially for idols) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCkvNRIZhBM - Jin's Weverse Live(20 mins) https://weverse.io/bts/live/2-143218822 - Festa Event pt. 1(Jin hugging 1000 ARMYs), this part wasn't livestreamed, so it's not the whole thing but some highlights taken by fans(with subs!), it's about 14 min. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLArMCHWyFM - Festa Event pt. 2("Message from Jin"), which was livestreamed on Weverse, though you need Army Membership to watch the replay directly(which is about 20$, you can purchase it in the Weverse shop) https://weverse.io/bts/live/1-142756793 Alternative links in case you don't get the membership to work: https://0613data.tumblr.com/concerts (I'd usually recommend this source alone, but I noticed that they didn't have a version with subs available when I looked just now, they might've added it by the time you guys get to it though, so check it first) https://btslinkita.dyjix.fr/watch/jin-live-2024-festa-message-from-jin-june-13-2024-%C3%B4%C3%BF%C3%A7-%C3%A5_IakMnDs5rrRk6eK.html https://deokdeokgoose.com/jinfesta

Markatta

omg, yeesss!!! a MUST watch.

Diana Rabago

I don't really recommend Rise of Bangtan because you guys have covered most of that by watching the official tour documentaries. It also ends abruptly and won't give you great context on the years left to cover. I think watching official content is the way to go.

Sjfyy_

yes exactly

Sjfyy_

Yes please watch these!

Sjfyy_

yes!

Sjfyy_

shoutout funnel cake army we will never forget you <3

Niki

i would like to recommend these videos made by boracity magazine: 1) bts moments for the history books, 2) why most armys don't like kpop, 3) how the bts army changed fandom culture, 4) trends bts has created, 5) MORE trends bts has created, 6) about the current smear campaign against bts. they're short, informative and they give you a different perspective of what you are used to watch on documentaries. and also this ones by SugArmyy: 1) unusual things that ONLY happen in a bts vlive, 2) BTS calling each other on Vlives always ends up in chaos. these ones are just funny ones and i hope you get curious about their lives and start reacting to them :D. have a great week!<3

Diana Rabago

And even ignoring all of that…they’ve yet hear all of BTS’ albums, some of their solo albums and mixtapes, their Japanese songs, most of their collabs, heck I even recommended checking out all the Prod. SUGA songs and even that list is abt 20 songs deep…AND THAT’S JUST THEIR MUSIC BTS truly is a bottomless pool of content 😂😂 when will most ARMYs ever catch up

Ahjusshi_Brown

Please react to Jin’s first Weverse live after his discharge and the wonderful Festa Event that he did the day after for their 11th anniversary(“Message from Jin”)💜

Markatta

I would love to see y'all react to Jin's appearance on the survival-type of show, "Law of the Jungle" (on Weverse or KOCOWA+)! I think it helped me understand Jin's love for fishing on a deeper level. 😂

Emi

I agree. Most clips in TROB also came from the official docuseries anyway. They already watched like Ep 1 to 4 of it w/c if I remember correctly, an intro to Kpop industry & how different BTS were. They've also watched the hardships of BTS video too so at this point watching TROB is redundant. Bangtan Bombs/BTS Episodes for sure is the way to go. If they want more behind the scenes, they could also watch the Memories DVDs.

Danie Vasquez

Before the LA concerts they tried to do it in Soeul but new restrictions meant they had to change it to online concert even whilst performing in the Olympic stadium. After the LA concerts when they got back to Soeul they had to quarantine for two weeks. Some members stayed in America longer. BTW after they got back from America the members started to catch COVID 🙁

Janet Wilson

I agree. TROB is a very well done series but it is pulling from all the documentaries that you have already reacted to so I don't think it's going to give you any new information. Maybe the early episodes when its dealing with pre debut and post debut.

Janet Wilson

Totally agree!!!

shayna

Rise of bangtan is a good docu series made by army so you can watch it in YouTube, goes more into the beginning of BTS and I like it because is like from the armys perspective somehow, the chronology is so good too! I would recommended watch the deleted scenes and the bonus content of it :). Another thing you can react is boracity videos, they are essaysvideos where explain some things about BTS and the kpop industry!!!

Ale

But they havent reacted to ALL the festas. They still didnt do 2019-2021

Rinakin

I agree with everyone who’ve said you should react to The Rise of Bangtan docu series after this. It’s a really really really good series. It’s made by Army. When you watch it, you’ll feel like it was made by a professional or something. The army, who made it did a really great job on it , so well made 👏🙌

ParkMinJeon

i agree! there is so much official content to be watched

nylecoj

I personally think that The Rise of Bangtan, has some good information and also includes snippets from Bangtan Bombs, documentaries, I think it’s just a good watch and summary. Maybe if you react to it on YouTube and keep the official content on Patreon. The most important thing is this is your BTS journey, you should watch whatever you want 💜

My Purple Light

Always so happy to see your reactions! I hope all is well, I know it has been a crazy week for you guys! 💕 I would love to see your reaction to one of their FESTA concert/fan meets such as the 2017 Home Party. https://youtu.be/NHk14nxn45U?si=oUbZHwVRg1hbLUwA

Emi

it's crazy how there's actually SO much you guys have yet to react to, whether music or video content 😅 i don't think you guys ever finished watching all of their 2022 vlogs !!! you did JK's camping, Jimin jewelry, and Jin cooking + along with everyone's great suggestions, i'd also recommend random "bangtan bombs" and "BTS episodes" on their bangtantv youtube channel! they're behind the scenes footage of various events, whether MV recordings, snack breaks, or traveling etc. maybe reaction videos with videos that catch your eye. they're in a playlist on BANGTANTV's channel another army reaction channel watched all of their bangtan bombs/episodes in chronological order (they'd do a few per reaction video). so that could be a cool idea

Seneca

regardless of whether you should continue watching or if it's redundant at this point (i think it's up to you!), just info on Rise of Bangtan: so the creator took it down for some personal reasons, BUT someone else re-uploaded it, and that's what reactors are using now. posting reactions of it on YT doesn't cause issues for other reactors, so you'd be fine

Seneca

another genuine army reactor channel (i only follow the "real ones" lol) makes a post on patreon every once in a while, asking for vlive recommendations! people usually recommend great options of iconic lives through the years

Seneca

jin is backkkk!! i hope u guys check out his comeback live, new live performances of festa and videos of when the members went to pick him up💜

Sneha Roy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCkvNRIZhBM. the link of the moment he was being discharged

Joenne

here's the link of the moment jin is discharged from the army https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCkvNRIZhBM

Joenne

I love sad songs unless I'm cleaning, exercising, or driving on a beautiful sunny day! Rain makes it better. My husband hates all slow songs... picking a first dance song for the wedding was a rough time haha

em9397

thank you guys for another episode I love rewatching with you! Yeah I hope you can continue posting the Rise of bangtan cause it is a well made documentary, I also hope that you can react to some of their past concerts like the first concert they ever did which is The Red Bullet and pleaaaase react to Suga's final solo concert because it is amazing and so emotional <3 I also hope you can react to Hobi's new docu series Hope On the Street I loved that

Daniela Miño

You can definitely post the Rise of Bangtan reactions on YouTube (if that’s what you guys are talking about). That series was created by an ARMY who was trying to make information abt BTS’ story accessible to all fans, so she’s not gonna like…give you a copyright strike or anything 😂😂 Plus, there’s been several other reactors who’ve posted their reactions to the series on YT with no issues (as far as we, the viewers, know)

Ahjusshi_Brown

it's also very memorable. there are moves there that you can easily single out for idol like the gwara gwara

mari

That’s what I was thinking but I wasn’t sure if I was confusing them with other reactors or if I was making the memory of them reacting to it up in my head 😂 thanks for letting me know

Ahjusshi_Brown

i think they already reacted to it on their old channel actually

mari

Idk why this episode made me realize this but…have you guys seen the 2022 FESTA Dinner? I feel like to really understand the context of the next coming episodes (or even what RM means when he said “I’ve contemplated quitting a lot these past 2 years” in this episode) you need to hear what they told us during that dinner. Of course, you can check it out after the docuseries too. Either way, I think it’s important to get the context that video adds when attempting to fully grasp BTS’ journey thus far. Edit: a very kind ARMY reminded me that you guys definitely have reacted to the FESTA dinner already 😂 so ig my only recommendation would be to check it out again on your own time (although you’re definitely in for tears if that’s what you guys choose to do)

Ahjusshi_Brown

They didn’t perform for 4 straight days but instead set up camp for 2 weeks, performing on the weekends, back to back.

Ahjusshi_Brown

i feel like you could start reacting to their albums!!

Carolina

I think idol is the most iconic dance break in my opinion but once again it’s personal preference ❤️

Jordan Abernathy

I went to all 4 of these concerts in LA. To answer some of your questions, at the time, yes, the United States as a whole was allowing concerts, and it had been for some months. For reference, these concerts were in November/December of 2021. I mean, we all know how lax the US' policies on COVID were. By the end of 2021, people were not taking it seriously anymore. They weren't even caring at the end of 2020. Even in California, this sort of event was possible by 2021. HOWEVER, we DID have to wear masks and we DID have to show proof of vaccination upon entry. But I will say that even if we were not required to wear masks, we still would have. ARMY took COVID very seriously because BTS took it very seriously. BTS actually held this concert in Korea of October of 2021 and they were supposed to have a spaced apart, limited audience, but at the very last second, restrictions went up and they were forced to have no audience. They eventually held this concert in March of 2022 in Korea but it was a limited audience concert and the audience was not allowed to sing along, scream, or make any noise with their mouths. It was sooo awkward tbh and I felt bad for both the boys and Korean ARMYs.

Alexandra

Oh i didn't remember if they had or not so i included them just in case! Thank you 💜

tannie misser

I’m pretty sure they’ve already watched the PTD concert that was on Disney+ on here and the Yet to Come concert on their original YouTube channel, if you want to check them out 💜

bizarre☆azar

Unrelated but I'm praying for a Bon Voyage season 5 🙏🙏 it'll be so fun to watch you guys react to it

spoopyjhope

I think a perfect finale for this current docu series would be a concert from the PTD tour or an online concert they held during the pandemic (Map of The Soul ON:E)! Afterwards i'd personally recommend - listening to the members' previous mixtapes (RM, mono, Agust D, D-2, Hope World) - listening to older BTS albums (maybe in order?) - Hobi's docu series (Hope on the Street) - Yoongi's concert docu movie (D-Day the Original, just came out) - Solo concerts (Jin's post-enlistment mini concert, Jungkook's ''GOLDEN Live on stage'', etc.) - Summer/Winter packages - Memories of 20XX (hours of behind the scenes stuff, released every year since 2014 up to 2020) - Yet to Come in Busan Concert (last pre-enlistment concert) I think it'd also be cool to see you guys watch a weverse live but i'm not sure which would be the best one to react to or if anyone else would find that fun lol 😆

tannie misser

I agree it would be redundant to watch at this point

natasha richardson

I think instead of doing the fan made docuseries you should do official content yes they condense the eras of bts but you guys already have a good foundation of that from watched the documentary and other content you should do the bts episodes which are behind the scenes content of important moment like you guys were shocked over their diplomatic passports well you'd get an inside look at that moment in the bts episode same with the guys coming to the US for award shows and speaking at the UN Not saying the fan made series isn't good but at this point I think it would be better to watch official content especially since the fan made series only goes up to idol era and you guys watching this documentary alone makes you farther ahead information wise

natasha richardson

Guys Jin is back!!!I think it would be great if you react to when he was being discharged, his weverse live after discharge and his mini concert. He did all of that within a day of being released. So so proud of him ❤️

Amina

The YouTube series(Rise of Bangtan) can be reacted on YouTube itself it doesn’t get blocked I have seen other reactors post it there so it won’t be a problem.. For patreon you guys can checkout the new docu series “Hope on the street” that was released along with Hobi’s recent album it is available on prime video..

Yuktha

Yes , Please

Venita Morse

if you want to check out some more music you should react to Rm and Suga's mixtapes and Suga album d2. I also saw a lot of armies recommending to check out the summer and winter packages they are kinda like vacation vlogs. You should also first react to Jin's comeback live from the military. here is the link to Jin Live: https://weverse.io/bts/live/2-143218822

ly1111

it could be only me but I don't know how much I would recommend continuing Rise Of Bangtan. I felt like it was a bit biased and lacked a lot of context, especially in the later episodes. also, most of Rise of Bangtan is stuff from the docu-series they have already watched. and it isn't complete so it just leaves you hanging in the end. it's not like ROB is awful but I don't know how much I would recommend continuing it instead of just watching their official content especially after you've already watched all the Douc series and the hardship video. anyway I really enjoyed your reaction and can't wait for next week also sorry for my English if I messed up anything.

ly1111

For Patreon I think doing the solo concerts they each had, so Namjoons Indigo concert, D-Day last date, Jungkook's free golden concert etc and then do the Hope on the street documentary after that just so you guys can finish the solo stuff they all did the last year. And then watch Jins comeback army fanmeet which he did for festa

noel

Wes and Steph, all of the members go hard when it's concert time cause you never know when gonna see them in your country again

Kearyce Moore

I was just gonna say that cause this is nothing new to them.

Kearyce Moore

For Patreon, please do the summer and winter packages. They go to other countries and its like a pared down bon voyage

Marissa K

regarding sad songs, i actually quite like that it makes me cry lol. it sounds masochistic but there's a feeling of catharsis after having let out all the tears and pent up emotions I may have had that time.

mari

18:30 - Yes I definitely agree with your point about the members realizing the scarcity of performances. Not that they took it for granted or didn't love and appreciate it before (quite opposite actually), but this definitely hit the members on a different level. At this point in their lives they had already been through hell, survived serious disbandment considerations, and had somewhat of an idea of when the inevitable military service was coming (until the law changed and allowed them to defer their enlistment of course). They had basically been through it all and had been ready for the inevitable future for a long time... Until boom, they weren't. Their careers were put on pause, not because of disbandment or mandatory enlistment, but due to the pandemic, something completely out of their hands. Disappointment is already hard enough to deal with but it's especially cruel when it comes right when you think you've done all your calculations right and you're confident you can see five moves ahead. I really applaud the members for their resilience in times like these.

tannie misser

I think a poll would be a good idea for deciding what to watch next! I think Jin’s recent post- military lives would be a good start but there’s also still Suga’s concert, J-hope’s docu series, and more.

KK

I hope you all check out Jin's mini concert performance for BTS' 11th anniversary. It's pretty incredible that he pulled this off just a day after his discharge, especially considering he hadn't sung or been on stage for a year and 6 months. ⬆️

xchosenz

Yes you guys watched them make pancake in one of the Run BTS episodes where they stayed in Canada

Michella Lu

When they were trainees they trained using masks (not the same kind but still....) so I think they are pretty good at it.

Keianna Boyce

Yessss, this would be great!

Sabbie

that scene with seokjin eating a funnel cake always remind me of that one army that works in that specific store where seokjin brought the cake and she was absent for work that day and then these pics and vids of seokjin in six flags were spread, she was so disappointed 😆 there's also a lot of "paid" contents you have not reacted to yet so don't worry guys hahaha. they have summer packages, winter packages, seasons greetings, memories, hobi has a new docuseries–hope on the street, there's also a spinoff of in the soop with taehyung and his wooga squad which you are familiar with some of the other members, seojoon and wooshik from jinny's kitchen, also jk have a series of films called golden closet films which is short videos, it's on youtube btw 😁💜

outrolars

The PTD concert DVD (the is on the 3mgoggie link) has behind the scenes of the concert. And all the concert DVDs have behind the scenes. Then there are the yearly memories that have more content.....guys, it's Neverending 😁

Marissa K

Please react to Hobi‘s new documentary on amazon prime!! Hope on the street!! Its about his journey as a dancer! It is soooo coool

Rinakin

I went to the PTD concert in LA. It was amazing and so loud. And the energy of the city was great, which might be because all the people that came to LA gave a boost to the local economy. About 80% of my flight down to LA was Army.

Marissa K

Jhope released a new documentary called “Hope on the street”! Highly recommend watching that before running a poll 💜 Jin came back and did a performance for Bts’ 11th anniversary!! It was so cute and fun and so *Jin*. I really hope you’ll get to watch it soon~ here’s a link: https://btslinkita.dyjix.fr/watch/jin-live-2024-festa-message-from-jin-june-13-2024-ôÿç-å_IakMnDs5rrRk6eK.html

☾Joey

GUYSSS JIN IS BACK!!! Hope you can react to his recent weverse live and his full stage performance that he did for bts' 11th anniversary!! He did so well im so proud of him💜

nylecoj

when it came to opening up for concerts and public events, US WAS the first to open up. I live in austria, and I remember PTD concerts, and at the time, no country in europe was allowing these types of events for at least another 6-10 months, AND travel between EU countries was a pain in the ass with all the regulations.. so, no, they couldn’t have done it in Europe at the time :(
