STRAY KIDS - Episode 7

Ahhhhhh okay, I didn't know Chan was born in Korea then moved to Australia, I thought it was the other way around lol. Thank you for all the info! 🤗

Disco is broader than you would think, you would think of songs made in the 70s/80s (not sure because i’m from ‘01). The underlying beat of the songs you mentioned are classified as disco (happy tones and lighter tones than other genres). But K-Pop indeed mixes a lot of genres so it isn’t always 100% decided on which genre is most prominent. I’ll be honest, the YG trainees dance performance had a lot of potential, but it was executed waaaay to lackluster. There was no power in any of the movements and they didn’t finnish some of the moves either. Whereas Stray Kids actually put a lot of force into the movements, and not in every movement either, but that was a choice (the goofy stuff). I get that they weren’t a group before (YG trainees) but they at least should all individually give it their all. I could see Hyunsuk (YG) being disappointed after the performance because he knew Stray Kids did way better. By the way, back in those days, it was hard for me to like Hyunsuk or Jinyoung because they both were building their company and were focussed on making the best groups possible. Now that both aren’t CEO’s anymore (I think Jinyoung stepped down before this so he is a bit more relaxed I feel like) they are actually pretty nice and fun guys. I do vibe more with Jinyoung than Hyunsuk though. Felix was born in Australia and he grew up there (i’m not sure if he ever went to Korea) whereas Bang Chan was born in Korea and then moved to Australia to then later return to Korea at a pretty young age. Chan’s parents might have spoken more Korean to him than Felix’s parents did (i’m not even sure if his sisters know much korean, Chan’s sister Hannah Bahng, who is also a singer doesn’t feel really comfortable in Korean either but is more fluent). So their life looks like this: Bang Chan: 1 - 4: (he doesn’t know when he moved): Korea 4 - 15: Australia 15 - present: Korea Felix: 1 - 17: Australia 17 - present: Korea (keep in mind that when Felix was 17 he only had a few months to learn the language, in comparison to Chan who is 3 years older than Felix, that means he would have had 5 years to re-learn it) This actually also means that Chan needs to enlist someday whereas Felix doesn’t need to. That could honestly already be next year because Jungkook enlisted already and they are the same age. Speaking about that, that is very confusing to me. Think of for example Taemin of SHINee and Taeil of NCT, they are not even a full year apart from each other and between them was still EXO, a whole generation, and 8 years between debuts. The people that were asked to judge knew, but the rest probably didn’t because they just joined to watch a new group perform. This happens a lot in Korea either groups do it to bond more with their fans or new groups have a basically free platform for themselves. Think of it like a street performer would make music and you’re walking by, maybe you will take some time to watch it or even give them some pocket change (it’s just for the recognition)

You had asked about Woong and if you know him. You might! He’s from AB6IX, and he’s such a fun, captivating performer. I saw them in concert last November and it was great. AB6IX just released an EP with all the member’s solos and he has one called just do it! That was a lot of fun.
