Thanks for the suggestions. I'm guessing you are very into international politics considering your reading list. I was into bitcoin for short term profit as well as a genuine interest in its value as an alternative form of money - though I have pretty much lost faith in it since the crash last year. I don't really follow it anymore - and I did work with a crypto company last year but found it hugely underwhelming and more of a get money quick via ICO's and never really deliver anything type of scheme.

I've heard very mixed responses to the book myself, but I'll give it a shot :)

DKDKTV

Well I guess I'll see you there then :) Also I am a little overwhelmed by the length of Atlas shrugged - I don't think I've ever finished a book that long in my life so it'll definitely be a challenge for me lol

Okay I'm glad someone else has seen the video! It's seriously so good. However I also didn't really care about the speed reading part either. I'm going to make list on good reads so I can share what I read with you guys. Thanks for the recommendations :)

I'll be the pewdiepie of kpop - dropping random book reviews

I try to enjoy books mostly in its original language when possible (well I can only really read English and Korean so...) because Korean translations sometimes suck ass haha. I've been a freelance translator for 7 years prior to doing youtube so whenever I see these Korean translations that are somewhat awkward it makes me reverse engineer to figure out what the original English writing was, and it makes me sooo distracted.

Yeah 10 minutes is a little extreme, especially in Korea - where people HATE waiting. But unlike other countries where UBER drivers are an established job(in terms of people view them as actual jobs), here they just see it as mostly part time side job. So I don't think people would be very empathetic to what their complaints are too much - so I see this as a viable option if I were a politician trying to mediate things.

I've also started reading more this year and have bought more books than i have read. So far this year I have read Fool's Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan, Dear Reader: The Unauthorized Autobiography of Kim Jong Il, The New Right: A Journey to the Fringe of American Politics, and I’m starting Perils of Dominance: Imbalance of Power and the Road to War in Vietnam. If you're going to read Atlas Shrugged i recommend reading Anthem first then The Fountainhead and then Atlas Shrugged. It flows better to understand her ideas in that order. I also notice you were into bitcoin. Was it for its store of wealth, speculative property, or alternative to government cash? I also remember you saying on a previous podcast that you want to learn more about money and economics and (I think) that they didn't teach you much in school. If your interested in books on economics, money, and capitalism I have a couple of recommendations. They are not “investment” books but breaks down micro and macro economics. The books about capitalism explain what it is instead of the way people misinterpret it as just “greed” They make the case for free markets and the how bad government run economic systems function. Man, Economy, and State What Has Government Done to Our Money? Human Action Economics in One Lesson: The Shortest and Surest Way to Understand Basic Economics

It's great that you are getting into philosophy, Sarte and Jung are good as a foundation. Absurdist theory developed by Albert Camus is like using nihilism to find happiness. I tried reading Atlas Shrugged in highschool but I felt like it's a terribly written piece of fiction. Randian economic theory only works in a vacuum. I hope you enjoy it.

First I am so excited that you guys are coming to NYC. I can't wait. I have an idea of what events you may be going to as i am probably qoing to them as well! Yay!!! The ride share/taxi problem is also an issue in NYC. In another city a girl was murdered when she got into a car that she thought was her Uber so I think people are starting to think differently about using some of these services. I have read "Atlas Shrugged" (a long time ago) but I think you will like it. Some parts may be tough to get through but just power through them. Who is John Galt? There are many aspects about it that I agree with. will be interesting to hear your thoughts. I would love a Duck Book club. As you start working it is very hard to find time to read and very easy just to zone out in front of a tv. Ooooh!! so excited for your fan meet!!! yay!!!

OMG, I've watched that bookstore video last month, and immedietly shared it with my friends, saying "this is the best video i came across in 2019". Inspired me to read more, and to make better videos as well. (You should recommend it to David too, the video creator is friends with Casey Neistat!) The only part that I didn't really care for is the speed reading interview. I relly enjoyed this podcast episode! (I became patreon only for this perk, sorry not sorry.) I loved every topic, thank you for recognising that every story has two sides (at least), and that sometimes it may be more complex than it seems. Can I recommend some books (for you, or any duck)? I really enjoyed Philip Zimbardo - Lucifer effect (psychology), Albert Camus - The Stranger (philosophy) and Terry Pratchett Discworld novels (comic fantasy). Waiting for the next podcasts, and I need the uncensored one with PD. :D Have a nice week everyone! Quack-quack!

Just wanna say; I don't need to watch that video - I've been reading books my whole life. Sometimes I read one book for a day or two days ^^Some books I have are in different language versions (I have English and Polish versions of all "Harry Potter" books; "Lord of the Rings" or "Tapestry" series ^^). Sometimes I feel oryginal language better than the Polish translation ^^

I’m glad you went and took a look on the other side to see why Taxi driver’s are so against this and taking extreme measures. You’ve opened my mind to how dire it is for them. I still don’t think ride share services should have to take the hit for this tho. The government might have to aid the misplaced taxi drivers. Maybe help them to integrate into the ride share services. I thought the ride sharing services should buy out the taxis as well but then I also thought of the cost of all that and I’m sure they don’t want to take that on. But if the ride share companies want that market, they might have to take the lose now to gain later route. Integrating taxis into the Uber app might be a good idea. 10 minutes is too long tho. Nobody’s waiting ten minutes for a ride to confirm. I’d just close that app and try Lyft (or whatever other service there is). Also, if Taxis get first dibs and they take every ride, the rest of Uber’s drivers are SOL lol. I think the reason you like cold showers is because, like you’ve said before, you like to challenge yourself (cycling across the US and then from Seoul to Busan). And then the “I can do it” thing is a psychological thing. I’ve taken a cold shower before and I felt no difference lol. Making my bed is different tho. I do get satisfaction from that haha. I haven’t read a book for enjoyment since high school. Everything since then has been necessary for school. I’ve been wanting to get back into reading because I loved it when I was younger. Now that I’ve graduated college, I feel like I have no excuse. I have the books I want to read lined up so I know the order, I just have to do it. I started Toni Morrison’s “The Bluest Eye” so I need to get back to that. Next would be “Assata.” I also want to reread “Kindred” by Octavia E. Butler (the last book I read back in high school that I loved so much). And then I have a whole wishlist of books on Amazon to keep track of the books I want to read.
