Seventeen - Bungee Jump Reaction - Part 2 (Uncut: 45 Minutes)

Comments

The whole irony of this entire video: theres only really 2 extroverts of the group. they're mostly introverts. they're just outgoing bc they're with their bros. hoshi + mingyu are very reliant on the members for that support in group areas.

YOOOOUUU NEED TO REACT AT THIS PLEASEEE https://youtu.be/kUOIJ2OFxsY

I think if you're interested in seeing them in smaller groups, there are a few Going Seventeen episodes that display it, like the ep 60-61 Talk-Get Together, or the TTT episodes 44-45. It is indeed a different dynamic and you can hear quieter member revealing themselves (like The8, Vernon, Joshua, Jun...)

You should watch Going Seventeen Camping Trip 2019 parts 1, 2 and 3. They get really open about what they mean to each other. Its really sweet. Part 1: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zMpnvIJePt4 Part 2: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Lbk5zL1eXEc. Part 3: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ngq4yPRczJI

I think that SCoups in any group activities, perhaps without realizing it, takes the role of the observer and let the other members be protagonists. I personally think it's in conversations with fans (such as end mentions at concerts, fanmeetings, lives, talking to fans, etc.) where he opens up more.

also like a lot of other people said, going seventeen is a variety show so they have talked multiple times about the pressure of being funny, especially because its such a well recieved show even outside of their fandom and kpop fans in Korea which is kind of unprecedented. So while this is definitely a true side of them bc they do love to bicker and make fun of each other and ultimitely have fun, this is much more of a variety setting and lots of other shows that they have done or even just in their behind the scenes content you see how tender they are towards each other and how much they care. some people have mentioned hit the road which is a great example or their anniversery contents and I think in the soop is also a great example because they are much more relaxed and they have a lot of heart to hearts. It's a little funny bc they're kind of obsessed with each other and will never stop talking about how grateful they are for their group and each other like its very sweet. also the 2017 TTT camping series, the last episode they drink and talk and a lot of it is about their feelings towards each other and its very sincere. anyways woah those were two very long comments but I very much enjoyed this and am looking forward to more svt content and you getting to be able to know them more!! :))

jeonghan has such an interesting personality to me I find him super fascinating and I've been trying to figure out how to express just why but it's so hard lol. I think on a surface level when you first start watching svt content people see him as the trickster and he loves poking fun at the members and making them do silly things or embarrasing them and he's also super smart and cunning when he wants to be in games. But then he has this very very soft and caring side and a lot of the members say they find a lot of comfort in him and that he takes really good care of them. even in this episode dk relies on him a lot for emotional support (he does in general and they have a really sweet relationship). I just think something about him is very magnetic ? He has special little nicknames for a lot of the members and inside jokes and overall I think he has a really innate ability to make someone feel very special. So like even if its embarrasing or silly the members will always play along with him bc he does make them feel special. Idk its reallyyy hard to explain for me but after watching their dynamics for so long I can't help but feel he's one of those people who having their attention (of any kind) on you is such a good feeling and makes you feel seen. hes very fascinating and sort of hard to undestand sometimes but I think the more stuff you watch the better of a read you get on him

lets hope so đŸ€žđŸŒ

Thanks so much, it was fascinating to hear about your thoughts and observations <3 What you mentioned about their egos and shining individually is really interesting. It made me think about how there seems to be a big cultural difference between western groups and kpop groups when it comes to individualism. Maybe it’s just me but I feel like kpop groups are generally more team-oriented than western groups. And in my opinion seventeen is even more team-focused than most kpop groups, bc even with 13 members and in their 8th year since debut they still want to do as much as possible as a group. I think it shows the most in their performances. everyone gets a part where they shine, but they also willingly give the spotlight to someone else, and they don’t try to distract from them. It really feels like a harmonious group performance rather than 13 individuals on stage. It’s actually very cool to see how they have this system going where everyone contributes to the group in their own way. Like you said, members like seungkwan dk hoshi mingyu etc are good at variety, so they’re usually more prominent there. Others are more prominent in talk shows/interviews, and some of them don’t care about non-music activities all that much and sit back and chime in here and there while the others do their thing. I even remember them saying they don’t get jealous of a member doing solo activities bc they’re doing it to promote the group. And like you pointed out with seungkwan trying to involve the members rather than having all the attention to himself - i think that’s a general thing for svt actually. Like they really make sure to involve the quieter members so no one is left out. You might see it more in other content rather than going seventeen because this format has a very specific editing style and humor. And related to that, i don’t think scoups is “separated” (for the lack of a better word) from the others in any way, but i can see why this episode gave you this impression ~ i feel like he was burdened a bit bc he was in charge of keeping the show going and making it interesting, so he couldn’t joke as lightheartedly as the others. And like other people have pointed out, he often sits back and watches the others rather than jumping into the action. that doesn’t mean he’s any less integrated in the group dynamic tho 👍

The funny part that woozi didn’t actually fail 😭

Since you are wondering how they may talk and act differently in smaller groups, you can check out this docu/interview series they released a year ago. Each ep focuses on one unit. You'll be able to witness their usual dynamics within their unit and how iy changes when they're with the whole group. Their chemistry and eloquency. Ep.1, Vocal unit (Woozi, Jeonghan, Joshua, Seungkwan & DK) - https://youtu.be/FCrQ7hvNAfE Ep.2, Hiphop unit (SCoups, Wonwoo, Mingyu & Vernon) - https://youtu.be/jYHk1q875UA Ep.3, Performance unit (Hoshi, Jun, The8 & Dino) - https://youtu.be/zkLQ7-X3SSg

Joshua (Korean American), Th8 and Jun (Chinese) definitely contribute to the teasing just as well, even better than others some time lol, tbh SVT are like fanboys of Jun so matter what he does they find it cute, and The8 and Joshua hold their own in the group. From their trainee days, they have talked about sitting together for hours on end at the end of each day to talk about things, to take everyone's opinions into account, to sort out anything that might be on someone's mind and to plan for their future in their careers too. They have even done this as long as 7 hours at one time, they have mentioned that 'they realised since trainee. days that they have to actively listen, respect and understand each other fully', this group has worked hard on creating and maintaining their bonds with each other, they have said that 'they don't take each other for granted hence why they make sure that don't become lazy when it comes to their relationships with each other', and members have spoken at length that no matter which two member you put together each of them have their own bond with each other. you are correct about the whole no ego part, even their vocal trainer has spoken about how he found it fascinating that even as trainees they weren't 'greedy' for attention or even like bigger parts of songs etc, they seem to share very well. Actually Hoshi is someone who is an introvert when around other people who are not his members or people he is not close to, he gets quieter. Scoups is definitely not a forceful leader, he has spoken about wanting to make sure that he isn't that way with them, instead he leads them by respect, as in the members respect and trust him to do that also he complains if they dont express their love enough lol. He is also the type of leader who goes and fights with the company for the members
