Sophi and Olivia sat in a gleaming, white-walled laboratory, excitement buzzing between them. The experiment was simple—or so they’d been told. The ad had promised quick cash, a bit of fun, and “a chance to be part of groundbreaking science.”
“I can’t believe we’re getting paid to just sit here,” Sophi said, kicking her legs under the sterile metal table.
Olivia, always the cautious one, hesitated as she clicked her pen against the contract in front of her. “It’s kind of weird they wouldn’t tell us what the experiment is, though.”
“Who cares? It’s $500 each!” Sophi shrugged. “Besides, they gave us snacks.” She gestured at the untouched granola bars and bottled water on the table.
Olivia sighed. She was already here. Why not? She signed her name next to Sophi’s, and moments later, the two were whisked into room.
The first few minutes were uneventful. Girls sat in a chairs. A researcher, a cheerful woman with a clipboard, assured them to wait.
Then, the lights went out. The sleeping gas filled the room.
When the girls woke up, an unknown voice from a speaker announced the beginning of the experiment. These were the longest four hours in the lives of these poor girls.
Eventually, the experiment ended. Somehow, they lost consciousness and woke up, each in their own bed at home.
But the memories of this strange experiment will stay with them for a long time...
