Recently, Moira had begun hanging her suit coat along with Terry’s coat in the office closet. Moira said she preferred to hang her coat up to avoid wrinkles. Terry thought that was reasonable. While retrieving his jacket, he grabbed Moira’s and handed it to her. Moira was looking through her purse and checking her look. Terry remembered he had left his bag on Moira’s desk and he donned his jacket and went out to her desk.
He quickly sat down, pulled out his phone, and checked his look before packing everything quickly into his bag and standing up to wait for Moira. As Moira exited the office door, she frowned and looked at the desk. She said, “Terry, you have to clean off the desk and close down the computer at the end of the day. I closed down the computer in the office. Any pens or other desk litter should be put in the drawers.
Have a little pride in your workplace.” Terry found himself plopped back in the chair as he organized the desk, turned off the computer, and placed things in the drawers. When done, he looked up at Moira, who smiled and nodded. Then Terry stood up, grabbed his bag and the two of them left the office. On their way home, Terry asked Moira what he should wear to the book club meeting. Moira told him that blue jeans were probably fine as long as he wore a nice top.
No t-shirts and no tennis shoes. She suggested one of his broadcloth blouses. She also told him not to put his hair in a ponytail. She reminded him that he had worn his hair down at the office a few times and people would think poorly of him if he did not relax. She told him to leave the top buttons undone. Terry showered and was dressed in his new jeans and blouse as recommended by Moira. He had brushed his hair and it was full and curly. He freshened his lipstick and filled in his eyebrows. Terry put on trouser socks and a pair of his black low-heeled work shoes.
He checked his nails. While waiting for Susan, Terry filed and touched up his nail polish. When Susan texted she was outside, he grabbed his bag and headed for the door. Susan was looking around and noticed the cute brunette coming towards the car. She was doing a quick assessment of the young girl when she realized the girl was approaching her car. It wasn’t until Terry opened the door and said hello, that Susan’s mind clicked and she understood it was Terry. Susan’s words caught in her throat as she croaked, “H h hi, Terry.”
Susan waited till Terry put on the seat belt and Susan put the car in drive. At the first stop light, Susan smiled at Terry and noticed how the shoulder harness was nestled between Terry’s well-endowed breasts. While this was not unusual for a woman, Susan was still getting used to the fact that Terry had breasts. Susan said, “You look really nice tonight.” Terry responded, “Thanks. I hope I’m not dressed too casually.” “You’re fine. Most of the girls will be wearing something casual. Some may be wearing skirts just for the comfort factor.” Susan responded while driving.
The dinner and discussion were really relaxing. Everyone welcomed Terry. Several were stunned by the metrosexual presentation. Several noticed subtle differences in Terry’s blouse but did not make the leap to it being a women’s blouse. As the night moved on, everyone forgot that Terry was supposed to be a man. They talked about clothing, make-up, children, and boyfriends and a few of the girls even discussed their need for sexual relief. The discussions prompted an odd thought for Terry.
He had not been on a date in a long time. In fact, he had not even thought about women in that way in a long time. At first, he had ignored the idea of dating due to his temporary breast problem. However, as his breasts became a more long-term problem, he had still not revisited the idea of dating. In fact, he could not remember the last time some cute gal had gotten him excited. The more he thought about it, the more he tried to ask himself when the last time he had seen a woman turned him on was.
He found that when he looked at women, he was evaluating what they were wearing, or looking at their hair. Terry was knocked out of his daydreaming by several of the girls asking him what he did in his spare time. The girls seemed really interested in Terry and what he had to say. There was none of the one-upmanships that typically occurred when he had hung out with a few of his male friends.
Terry explained that he had decided to focus on his career and therefore, he had a pretty dull social life. He explained that he worked out in the mornings and that he and Moira often worked late. He offhandedly mentioned that he and Moira had been out on Friday night a couple of times. This prompted more questions and several of the girls asked if the Friday happy hour and dinner was a restricted affair or if they might be able to join in. Without thinking about the implications, Terry said, “It is just a couple of us from work.
I guess anyone is welcome to join us.” There followed a mild amount of excitement as several of the girls tried to make plans to join the Friday night group. Terry explained that it was similar to the book club but they tried to go somewhere with nice food and maybe some music. A couple of the girls said they could always hit a club later in the evening. Terry was worried that their little dinner was going to grow and he had not discussed it with Moira.
Later that night, as Terry reviewed the Friday dinner discussion, it occurred to him that he was the one that was reluctant to go out on Friday nights. And now, he had inadvertently invited a bunch of the girls from the office to join them. How was he going to avoid the dinner now? Thursday found Terry at the gym with Susan and Moira. At the office, Moira and Doreen had all but given up on filing and copying. They just set things aside for Terry to do. Susan was getting with the program and she added some filing and then planned to deliver her copying jobs along with directions to Terry.
Terry had gotten with the program and simply planned to make the coffee and start his morning with filing and copying. Moira figured he was no longer starting his morning with these jobs. She planned for these jobs to occupy his full morning. When they got to the office, Moira and Terry both hung their jackets on the back of the office door. As Terry headed out to start the coffee, Moira said, “Hey Terry, I think I’m going to work in the office this morning. I have a few sensitive calls and I should probably not make them out at the outer desk. So, just bring my coffee in here. Thanks.” Moira grabbed a few things off her desk along with her purse and headed into the office.
Terry was gone when Moira sat down at his desk and made herself at home. Terry arrived with her coffee a few minutes later. He placed it on his desk. Moira thanked him and smiled. Terry smiled and retrieved his filing and copying from Moira’s desk. As he dropped off coffee for Doreen and Susan, he collected their jobs. Terry had been developing a system for how he handled his morning chores and to a certain degree he simply went into automatic mode and plowed through his chores. The girls retrieved Terry for morning break and then he returned to his copying. There was another job for Chris and Terry moved it to the top of his priority list. When Susan came to check on the status, Terry simply handed her the job and smiled.
After weeks of wearing his new wardrobe, Terry hardly was aware of his bra or the difference between the camisoles he wore and the t-shirts he used to wear. The camisoles were very comfortable and his blouse slipped smoothly over his torso as he moved throughout the day.
Over time, Terry found that the blouses were comfortable and he liked picking out a different look each day. He even liked the silkier blouses on occasion. All of his suit pants were softer and more comfortable to wear, move in and work in. Terry did not miss his wool suits and starched shirts. Terry finished all the copy jobs he had acquired and delivered them to girls throughout the office area right before lunch. He grabbed Doreen and they got their lunch smoothies and went into the office where Mora was waiting.
Terry and Doreen sat in the visitor chairs and they talked about their morning. Terry summarized the book club and informed Moira that their Friday evening dinner might have a larger crowd. Moira smiled as she wondered what the women would think of Terry after his Friday afternoon at the salon. Moira made a mental note to select a color instead of the clear polish Terry had been insisting on for his nails.
Maybe she could convince them to add either mascara or a little color to his eyelids. She also needed to get him to wear more jewelry. Maybe some bracelets or rings. Add a women’s watch and he definitely needs to wear one of the necklace and earring sets he bought on a previous shopping trip. The office girls and Terry took a walk after their lunch and everyone was ready to get back to work. Upon their return to the office, Moira and Terry entered his office.
Moira handed Terry the unfinished call list from the day before. She said, “Terry, I wasn’t able to complete all my calls this morning. I have a special call I need to make and I think I need the privacy of the office. You understand. Can you jump back on this list from yesterday?” Terry took the list and stood there like he did not know what to do. “How are we both going to make calls from the office?” he asked. Moira shook her head and laughed like you would when a child asked a silly question. She responded, “Obviously, we cannot.
Since I need the privacy, why don’t you just start making your calls from the outer desk?” As she said this, she pointed out the door at her desk and held out Terry’s bag. Terry wasn’t sure why he needed to work at her desk. He also wasn’t sure why she needed more privacy than he did. “Moira, why do you need more privacy than I do?” Moira said, “Terry, I am calling about internal financial details from our customers.
Your calls are for basic demographics needed to fill in the boilerplate on a future proposal. My proposal is in the final stages and you are working on future proposals. Now run along and get your work done so we can both focus on the rest of our work.” Terry felt like the conversation was upside down. Shouldn’t he be making the important calls? Of course, he had allowed Moira to be the primary person on a couple of proposals. The problem was that as Terry was thinking through these issues, he found himself shuffling out of the office towards Moira’s desk. As he started to build up his gumption to discuss this further, he realized, Moira was already on the phone with someone.
Terry took his list and sat down at Moira’s desk. He placed his bag on the side of the desk and pulled himself together. Terry decided to just get the work done. After checking his hair and his lipstick, Terry picked up the phone and started making calls. As he worked, several inbound calls came in asking specifically for Moira. For the first two calls, Terry got up and went to the door to tell Moira she had a call. Moira came out after the second call and showed Terry how to use the intercom and forward function to tell her about the call and then drop it onto her line.
That way he would not have to get up to tell her about the call. Also, if she did not want to talk to someone or if she was on the phone, he could just take a message. When the next calls came in Terry used the intercom and forward function and Moira seemed pleased. Periodically, Terry felt an unconscious urge to pull out his phone and check his hair and lipstick. He took his nail file out and polished the edges of his nails while talking on the phone.
Doreen and Susan periodically looked over and observed Terry sitting and working at his assistant’s desk looking like it was where he belonged. Right before the afternoon break, Terry had completed his list of tasks and sat there wondering what he should do next. He felt like he should know what he was doing. But so much of his time lately seemed to be out of his hands. He was almost relieved to not feel pressure to jump on some task. Terry used the intercom to ask if Moira was busy. She said she was not and asked him to come on into the office.
Terry entered and informed her of the status of the list of tasks. Moira was complimentary and assured him that this would save them time on some of the upcoming proposals. She suggested that they head down to the break room and get some coffee. After their break, Moira gathered her things up and made a big production of piling things up and taking two trips out to her desk. She then told Terry that he could use the office for the rest of the afternoon. She assured him she knew he had lots of important things to work on and she did not want to be in his way.
Terry carried his bag back into the office and as he sat down, he was happy to be back in his office chair. He quickly got out his nail file and his phone. He checked his hair and lipstick. He freshened his lipstick and then had a quick review of his nails. Moira giggled to herself as she thought about the contrast of her carrying around lots of work while Terry moved his purse from desk to desk. She also giggled because the first important thing he decided to do was to check his hair and makeup.
Moira had taken the opportunity of being alone in Terry's office to install a couple of small discreet security Wi-Fi cameras. Terry would never notice them. Moira could now observe Terry as he did all of his important work. Terry logged into his own computer and started going through his e-mail. Here it was 3 PM in the afternoon and Terry, a manager, was for the first time today looking over his e-mail. Luckily for him, Moira had reviewed them to ensure nothing important was missed. Terry realized that Moira was copied on most of their project work and she had responded to almost all of the e-mails.
There were a couple she had not responded to and Terry called Moira into his office to get the needed information to respond to the inquiries. Moira wondered if Terry realized that he did not seem to be able to answer questions about his department area without consulting Moira. Moira told Terry what to say in the e-mails and Terry basically transcribed her words. Moira thought that was what all good secretaries needed to learn how to do. Terry finished his notes, cleaned up what little was on his desk, and decided to visit the restroom. Moira was waiting for him. She held out his jacket. Terry knew he had been busy at work all day. But it seemed like a lot of busy work and not a lot of the response activities that usually go along with management.
Moira figured the best strategy for Friday was to have Terry dress in a less-than-feminine blouse to avoid stunning the ladies who might not fully realize all aspects of Terry’s wardrobe. As she dropped him off she suggested that he wear one of his broadcloth blouses on Friday. Terry accepted the advice without questioning for details. Terry was worn out and he ate a small meal and vegged out in front of the TV. Later, he cleaned off his makeup, moisturized it, and crawled into bed wearing a bra and panties. Friday morning, Terry was dressed and waiting for Moira when she arrived.
Terry and Moira were joined by Susan as they entered the workout room. After their morning workout, the three of them had their morning drinks from the fruit bar and then visited the finishing stylists before heading to work. Moira decided to back off on the office takeover today and set herself up at her own desk. Terry hung up both of their jackets behind the door and gathered cups before heading to the kitchenette to make coffee. While the coffee was brewing, Terry sat in one of the chairs and prepared himself for the day’s tasks.
He needed to finish his morning coffee and do his morning filing and copying before he and Moira could start working on their projects. Terry looked at his nails and thought to himself that it was good that he would get his nails fixed later today. He was taking pride in his nails as time passed and he could tell that they needed that special touch the technicians always gave them. Terry poured coffee and gathered up the copying and filing from Moira, Doreen, and Susan. Susan was happy to offload her filing along with the copying.
Yet, she still wondered why Terry was so happy to do the copying and filing for everyone. Terry checked and fixed his lipstick between copy jobs. The ladies collected him for the break and he returned to his menial tasks which he was able to stretch out until lunch. He had found that lunch was a nice time to switch gears so if things were going a little too fast, it was easy for him to slow down and stretch the job out.
After their lunch smoothies, Terry and the ladies headed out for their after-lunch stroll. They made their way past shops. While the ladies' window shopped, Terry broke away to retrieve the cleaning. Terry was reminded that there were several extra tickets and he had initials on each. He was loaded down as he made his way back to join the ladies. The group made their way back to the office. Before they entered the building, Susan and Doreen grabbed their things to put in the car. Moira grabbed her own things along with Terry’s and placed them in her own car.
Terry still had a bundle although it was significantly lighter. In the office, Terry hung the clothes on his door so he and Moira could sort them out. Moira gave him two sets of things which Terry was told to take to Chris and her assistant Marsha who was also the assistant to Terry’s boss. Terry made his way over to Chris’s office and not seeing Marsha, he knocked on Chris’s door and held up the clothes to Chris, and hung them on the back of her door. Chris thanked Terry and wondered again why Terry was dropping her cleaning off. She shared her assistant with their department head and Terry had a dedicated assistant.
After returning to his office, Moira had Terry drop clothing off to several other assistants in their area. When done, Moira seemed animated and motioned for Terry to get into his office. Moira said, “Terry, remember when we arranged for you to be cross-trained on how to use the phone system with Doreen?” Terry said, “Sure.” Moira continued, “Well apparently they are following up and checking to make sure that people learned their lessons. I just got a call and you are supposed to cover for the receptionist for the next hour. The calls will be routed to your number starting in about two minutes. Get yourself situated and I’ll get you a cup of coffee.” Terry hurried over to his desk wondering why a manager needed to be tested on how to use the phone system. Before he could ponder this for very long the phone rang.
Terry answered his phone, “Hello.” Terry heard, “Hi Terry. This is Christy. I am forwarding the calls starting now. Thanks for helping out. I’ll be back in about an hour.” Terry responded, “No problem Christy. Let me know when you are back.” Christy followed up with, “You’re the best Terry. Talk to you in a bit.” And the line went dead. 30 seconds later the phone rang. Terry was taking a message when Moira delivered his afternoon coffee. Moira left him to his receptionist duties and returned to her desk.
When Moira had seen the e-mail from Christy asking if anyone could cover for her, Moira could not resist volunteering for Terry. Christy needed an hour to go try on her wedding dress and so she needed someone outside of the normal schedule to cover for her. Christy had no idea that Terry was a manager. To her, Terry was just one of the girls. By the time Christy returned, Terry was worn out. Half the staff in their area wondered why Terry had volunteered to take over for Christy while she was out. People in other areas simply noted that a new girl named Terri was the acting receptionist for a while this afternoon.
Not too long after Christy returned, Terry and Moira headed for their Friday afternoon appointments at the salon. Terry reveled in the relaxation of the massage and the epi-wash. He still did not understand that the laser skin treatments were really permanent hair removal. By this time, he had virtually no hair growth below his eyebrows. The first treatment and the follow-ups included not only his legs and torso but also his face. Since he thought it was a skin treatment, he thought nothing of it. In the last two weeks, he had virtually no hair growth on his face or anywhere else on his body.
His morning ritual no longer included checking his chin for hairs. The stylist decided Terry needed a good body wave and he agreed before realizing the implications, he had a head of curlers and was under a dryer. It took longer than in the past. But, Terry had learned to just go with it.
Unknown to Terry, Moira had also suggested a few highlights to additionally freshen Terry’s look. While Terry was under the dryer, his pedicure and manicure were underway. Terry sort of drifted off into a light slumber and absorbed the sounds and smells around him. As he slept, his nails took on a vibrant but subtle pink glow. Over the weeks, he found himself amazed at the changes which occurred to his hair and his general look in such a short time. While initially, he found these changes extremely disturbing, Terry had taken ownership of his hair. He spent time on it each day brushing and making sure it looked nice as he checked his face.
Eventually, he developed pride in having his hair look good. It was no longer hidden in his collar. When the stylist pronounced him done, Terry was stunned to see a head of beautiful curls with highlights that made his hair pop. Terry’s immediate reaction was ‘Wow.’ Moira and his stylist were there to confirm how great he looked. Everyone was complimenting him. Terry sat back down in the chair as makeup was pulled near. Terry had grown used to the makeup and he felt they understood his desires. A pink lipstick matching his nails was applied.
By itself, the lipstick was not something that jumped out at you. However, as the artist used subtle strokes to apply minimal coloring to Terry’s eyelids and she snuck in a couple of mascara strokes under the pretense of combing away a few loose lashes, Terry’s face began to glow. A brush of blush and Moira sucked in her breath at the simple beauty of Terry’s face. Terry just stared at his face and his hands drifted to his mouth. His fingers shined and he was so enthralled with his face and hair he hardly noticed the pink shine of his perfectly manicured nails which matched his lipstick perfectly.
Each week Terry complained less and less about how feminine he looked following their salon visit. It was just part of the process and he knew that since it was the weekend, he would be back to normal on Monday. As Terry returned to the dressing room to get dressed, Moira grabbed his necktie and told him to leave the top buttons on his blouse open. Terry’s hair was full, curly, and gorgeous. Moira just wondered what the other women would think.
Terry seemed happy and seemingly unaware of how radiant he now looked. Susan and Doreen arrived at dinner before everyone else. Moira delayed their arrival till others had been seated. Susan and Doreen explained that Moira had played a little joke on Terry and if anyone saw something out of place, they were to ignore it so that Moira could win a little bet between the two of them. The girls were excited to see what the bet was about.
When Moira arrived, several of the women hardly noticed her as their gaze was captured by a beautiful woman in a business suit several steps behind Moira. Her face glowed and her curly highlighted locks were perfect. Every woman in the restaurant was in awe of her beauty while every man drooled and wanted her. The girls from the office knew Moira had been at her afternoon appointment and expected Terry would arrive with her. But they did not recognize the beauty.
Noticing Moira, Karen wondered where Terry was. As Karen’s eyes fell on the beauty behind Moira, her eyes grew wide and she gasped as realization hit her. As Karen sucked in her breath Doreen pinched her leg reminding her to temper her reaction. What’s Next? Obviously, the women from the office are going to have some questions.
Terry needs to do more things outside of his work and apartment. At work, the company has expectations of certain employees and Terry may fit into a different group than before. Are there more skills Terry can learn? How will Terry’s role at work continue to evolve? When the company volunteers employees to work at a charity dinner, maybe they can assign duties based on jobs, or maybe people in a certain dress code group may be issued dresses to work as waitresses.
What if Terry the male gets one assignment and Terri the bra-wearing employee gets a more feminine assignment? Could the company sponsor an event for breast cancer and simply assume that all the people wearing bras will work the event or participate in the event in a specific way. What does Moira put in that afternoon coffee?
Season One.
The End.
