The multi-layer oil filled dichroic glass effect wheel in this unit is very nice in its own right as it has a very deep and colourful 3D appearance.

The unit is basically a projector with the rotating dichroic disk and a kaleidoscope tube that creates a very complex projected pattern.

That disk IS nice in its own right except for the oil leakage, which continues and will continue until it's dried out...which would drive me nuts, personally. Once that happens it's really just a matter of time before those glass bits gum up. I suppose it could be disassembled and re-assembled to run dry? I'm sure it would still work dry, just not as smoothly. (One could see the sudden movement surge of the glass already as it operates) It's worth it to keep the random effect the glass bits get as it's all tumbling around in there. I'm not certain that the effect would be the same with anything else. Yes absolutely worth saving and modifying, although the value of that heavy transformer is for you to decide, Clive. Beautiful piece!

The transformer is nice in its own right. This thing is begging for high power led upgrade.

you really must ship that home and do "an upgrade" project! Leave the transformer which is 90% of the weight..

I really like that effect.

I would call Wera affordable quality. The screwdrivers I have from then have been nice with the exception of one. I ordered a 4.0mm hex driver, the box said 4.0mm, the tag said 4.0mm, the driver said it was 4.0mm, but it was actually a 3.0mm hex. I don't mind having a spare 3.0mm, but I did need that 4.0mm too. xD I prefer Wiha for frequently used screwdrivers for work, but even my small set would cost well over 300USD now.

I don't think it's very old. Really just pre-LED era.

What sort of age would that light be? From the inside view, it looks fairly recent. Well, within the last 10 years or so,
