My ancient oil-burner based heating decided that one of the coldest winters in a while was the ideal time to stop working. I'd tried taking the burner out before, but it was seized in. Since it had started getting cold enough to worry about the pipes I decided to have another go and succeeded in chapping it out from the inside of the heat exchanger. It needs new bearings, but it's running now which is the main thing.
So while I was waiting to see if it oozed any fuel oil from the injector connections I made this video about another of the catalyst hand warmers that arrived today.

While you’re on a catalytic heating theme have you tried catalytic Oxidation of Acetone vapor with Copper? It’s quite impressive (but seems relatively safe) it will keep a small coil of clean deoxidised Copper wire of 1-2mm dia glowing for hours on a quarter inch or so of Acetone in the bottom of a glass jar. The coil needs to be hung just above the liquid where the fumes and air mix. Crucially to remove the Oxied layer from the Copper it must be red hot when lowered into the fumes. Acetone is only slightly more flammable than kerosene (paraffin), so if the coil touches the liquid it only quenches it.
