Totally dead lithium batteries

My fault entirely, for getting these with a tool and then losing them for a few years.

When cells are self-discharging it indicates that there has been an issue with the electrical separator inside them.

The charge circuitry is a bit weird. They've used a control chip designed for a negative charge input, but added circuitry to adapt it to positive charging.

Just replace the bad cell.

When I first picked up one of the $30 alibaba specials, I couldn't find replacement batteries... because apparently most of the cheap knockoffs just steal the Makita battery design and everyone already seems to know that :-) (ran for casual yardwork use for another couple of years with a knockoff-makita battery, though as of a month ago it no longer starts up.) Kind of funny that we got a little bit of standardization in the battery space, by simple theft :-)
