The Mandalorian: The Jedi [2x05] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

So I looked up Morgan Elsbeth just to see if she was in the Clone Wars and she actually was. Her sister Tryla was killed by Pre Vizsla along with most of her family on Carlac in Season 4 Episode 14: A Friend In Need and we saw them burn their village before Ahsoka got involved and fought Pre Vizsla and Bo Katan. Looks like sometime after this she joined the Empire, and somehow knew Thrawn.

This is where the fun really begins 😁 It seems (to me at least) that this is when Favreau and Filoni raised the bar for Mando. I enjoyed this a lot back when it was new 😊

When studios listen to fans, we can get great things... Like Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka ❀️

Not much to say about this Episode other then it was fantastic. Rosario Dawson was an amazing cast for Ahsoka and althougn i have a huge problem with Disney Star Wars overall except most of Mandalorian im still hyped for Ahsoka. Seeing the Trailer, seeing Ahsoka, Sabine and Hera makes me think or hope Dave will do it the right way. Sidenote: It was so cool to see Michael Biehn in this. He had such huge success with Terminator and Aliens. Sadly his Career went downwards after them (wasnt his fault).

I also get an error message. Maybe the Site/Server is down.

Hey, it seems that all the links for all the patreon reactions seem to not be working anymore. Not sure if it's a problem for anyone else or if it's just me.

I'm glad I went through all the shows in their timeline order - it's been so much fun doing it that way!

kaiielle

I must say I’m very glad for your commitment to watching these series in the same order as most fans watched. Watching The Mandalorian on its own is still good and one can definitely enjoy it, but I honestly feel like you can only appreciate it to the highest level after having seen Clone Wars and Rebels. It’s almost like Filoni was giving extra treats to the fans who stayed with him throughout those series

Thanks for sharing the airing dates! I've been so curious about that myself but I keep forgetting to look it up haha. The start of the pandemic was awesome for y'all from an entertainment perspective.

I did a little dance around my room when Ahsoka name dropped a certain Grand Admiral. Massive fan of the Thrawn Trilogy so the fact this is set in the same time frame just made me think "OMG they could be creating an adaptation of Hair to the Empire". Side note it's crazy that this episode aired on 27th November 2020 almost three years ago now.... This released only a few Months after the Mandalore story arc from Old Friends Not Forgotten airing on 17th April 2020 to the final episode Victory and Death airing on May the Forth 2020. So 2020 was very much the year of Ahsoka.

YEP, does make sense! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the info about the lekku! I actually didn't even consider it would be harder to act with longer ones.. duh. Makes sense!

kaiielle

Love the double drop of Mando! When Ahsoka was fighting the Magistrate, I thought the same thing as you did. No way she should be struggling. Then turned out that (of all people)Thrawn was her master?? Yeah, I can see itπŸ˜…As always, great reaction!

Here we motherf#$%&ing go...

Ahsoka's lekku was the one thing a lot of us kinda got stuck on. Which is understandable, the transition to live action brings some creative translation between mediums. According to the behind the scenes (which you should totally watch at some point, it's so cool how they filmed a lot of this and especially it talks also about how they did the lightsabers which is new from previous live action) it was apparently really hard for fight scenes with the lekku longer or more like how they are in animation so they shortened them-- which makes sense. From the Ahsoka trailers though, they've got them slightly longer and more swishy in movement maybe (less foamy) since they've maybe had time to get fan feedback and get it all better developed in the years between. We did get Shaak Ti with long long lekku in the prequel trilogy, but she never had to fight. You do get used to the shorter ones on Rosario, I just think the long lekku in Rebels are gorgeous on Ahsoka. Oh, an her horns are a smaller too, but in the Tales of the Jedi they kinda gave her mom shorter ones which I think is maybe to help with the live action feeling like that's how it could be. I just think to that planet of Togruta that Ahsoka, Anakin and Obi Wan saved from the Cat people slavers and they had huuugeeee butterfly shaped montrals. Maybe it's like different phenotypes in the Togruta species as a whole. I don't know, that's a tangent haha. The next episode is killer. I can't wait. Thanks for releasing a double feature today! edit: oh and it's not super confirmed I don't think but its kinda thought that the Magistrate is from Dathomir.
