Clerks II (2006) ✦ Full-Length Watchalong Reaction

Hey everyone! I know I said that Pump Up The Volume would be the next movie reaction, but waiting on the DVD (because it's not digitally available to me), so it'll be next week. I actually didn't realize that movie wasn't digitally available in the US either. 😭 In the meantime though, we're continuing the View Askewniverse with Clerks II! Thanks so much for watching! Clerks II (2006) ✦ Full-Length Watchalong Reaction

"While we'll see how it plays for me in 2024 when you get to it" - is this Tyler from the past???? 😂

Clerks II is the last View Askew-niverse film I saw at the time of release and the third-to-last Kevin Smith film I saw at the time of release. I liked it in 2006, watching it now, not so much. While we'll see how it plays for me in 2024 when you get to it, I do think you should check out Zack and Miri before continuing even though it is not technically part of the VA universe, just because I think it's a little more personal and thus leans more toward the best parts of Smith's writing and less the now very dated mid-2000s edginess of Smith trying to out-outrageous himself.

Clerks is about being in your 20’s and not knowing what to do with your life… Clerks 2 is about being in your 30’s and still not knowing what to do with your life… we have all been there… Kevin’s movies age with us that have been there since the beginning… they only get better… you should watch “Zack & Miri - Make a porno” before seeing “Jay & Bob Reboot” trust me…

HAHA yeah that double whammy moment was WILD!

kaiielle

Well. I’ve finished my second watch of this movie. I do not feel like I was the target audience. A lot of the humor didn’t land for me. But I did enjoy the main arc of Dante and Becky. I appreciated the end with Randall actually communicating in an adult way. By far the best moment for me in this reaction was, “I love you” & “I’m pregnant”. KL, that double whammy really hit you. Loved it. I haven’t seen Clerks III and am patiently awaiting the reaction for my first watch.

Emma, you mean I think.

kaiielle

Great reaction, truly a wild movie. A few tidbits. Emma is played by Kevin Smiths wife Jen. The little girl that waves at Dante when he’s in his car is Kevin Smiths daughter Harley. And the woman that checks the milk is Kevin Smiths mom Grace.

Hmm maybe one day.

Thank you!

Curious, would you be open to trying some of Kevin Smith's darker movies like Tusk and its sort-of-sequel/spin-off Yoga Hosers?

Hello, I've been binge watching all your Kevin Smith full length film reactions (with the exception of the original Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back—I watched your YouTube edited versions of those) over the last two days, and they're great.
