Liev Schreiber returned to Marvel in a much different way just under ten years later, voicing Kingpin in Into the Spider-Verse. For many years, Channing Tatum tried unsuccessfully to get a Gambit movie going at 20th Century Fox, before the Disney merger. I'm not really a comics expert, but my vague memory is that Gambit and Wolverine are characters that the fans love to see butting heads, similar to Wolverine and Scott.

2024-07-26 23:25:45 +0000 UTCThis movie also came out at a time when Deadpool was climbing in popularity in the comics. He had 4 ongoing titles and was many in other comics as well. I had jumped on the comic bandwagon a year earlier and was giddy with excitement when I first saw Ryan on screen. Man did they butcher the character in the end. The rest of the movie was just okay as a result. Fortunately we got a decent adaption later.

2024-07-26 00:06:27 +0000 UTCTotally couldn’t enjoy this movie, even though I really wanted to because he’s been my favorite character since I was a kid. The portrayal of Deadpool was an abomination, but I think Liev Schreiber did a good job as Sabretooth, and Hugh Jackman is always great as Wolverine. I’m going to see ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ this weekend, and the little boy that started reading Wolverine comics back in the early 80’s when he was going by the name “Patch” is beyond excited.
