This is functionally the same story as the original story posted [here], but with a slightly different ending. This was a commissioned story, and my client liked the one I posted! But I still have the original draft out, and it's nice to give y'all exclusives where I can.

In the months since the Great Devouring, it had become clear that some people were just never going to go back to being “normal”.

Once upon a time, Colleen had been a fledgling guard for the city of Aemple. Bound by duty to serve the Three-Crowned Kingdom and all of its people, she had wanted nothing more than to protect those around her and bring order to the chaos that would dominate their lives if she let it. Combating witches, fending off invasions of orcs, or even just putting goblins in their place before they got too uppity had been the upper scale of her responsibilities as a simple pikeman, and to her credit, Colleen very much made up for her inexperience with a pure, unbridled passion for the job.

But then the ground opened up and a demon who drew her power from the abstract notion of Entropy, and like... as a rank-and-file soldier without any magical powers, what was she supposed to do about that?

Belladonna's Chosen, Gabriella Grimoire, has made it her sworn duty to help those adversely affected by a disaster that may have been at least one-third her fault. But the thing about magic users is that they like to cheat.

And since Colleen doesn't seem to be losing weight any time soon, the old-fashioned way... well, maybe there's someone else that can help her out?
