Hiding would be massively counterproductive, walk up and ask what's going on. If you`r asked to come in, under arrest or simply for questioning, comply and assure your companion it's alright. Y.Q. isn't the only one with Twilights protection, and you can call on her to straighten out any issues.

If you try to sneak by the guards and get caught, you will look suspicious. And seeing as Twilight did allow changelings passage into Ponyville, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. So perhaps it's best to reveal yourself.

They're either on high alert because of the timber-dragon attack earlier today, or they're looking for you, because you're out WAY past bed time. Either way, advise the Bodyguard that he should introduce himself formally to the guards, and state that he's the Young Queen's Bodyguard, and has brought a phoenix who may be able to help speed his charge's recovery. Ask them if they will escort him to the Hospital, or at least give him directions. If they don't believe him, reveal who you are and back up his story.

Trying to avoid them would only make things more difficult. Since Twilight opened leniency for Changelings might be better to ask them outright what was going on. Worse case scenario if they are looking for you they won't know who you are since you are in Phoenix form

Have the changeling hide while you investigate. Your a phoenix so you'll be trusted more. Ask them what's going on and see why they are searching. Alternatively, the changeling can change into a different pony and asks what's going on since they don't have the detection staff.
