Avatar: The Last Airbender S2x14 "City of Walls and Secrets" FULL UNCUT REACTION!

Hey Hey Patrons!

We're in the home stretch of Season 2 and the show is clicking in mature and interesting ways that we've not yet seen and its fucking AWESOME!!

We get our first really in-depth look at Ba Sing Sae and the meme game it inspired!

We pine for our own public transportation in the Pandemic Era after seeing the awesome one they have in the city, we're stoked to see Clancy Brown's entrance of Long Feng (this series' Dick Cheney), and how Jet sounds like an Avatar Q-Anon believer!

Fucking awesome episode and we're soooo damn happy to have you all along with us!

Thank god I’m not the only one who thought Long Feng felt very Cheney

The Cat-Owl is actually a pretty clever pun. Owl is called mao tou ying (猫头鹰) in Mandarin, which literally means cat-headed bird of prey.

They def do

Oh yah boss we got them subs! I think we’ve struck a nice balance cause we do like to riff and it sets us a bit apart from other channels, but we also wanna clock all pertinent info, and if one of us misses it the other usually will fill us in!

Sean TankTop

Love the reaction and the commentary. Are you guys using subtitles because I can't tell if you're missing important info or you're just reading it so you don't have to exactly hear everything they are saying?

I think this episode is the first one since the jet one where we really get a more nuanced war narrative. There are no clear good guys and bad guys, only interests, survivors, trauma and politics. This becomes a pretty running theme from now on, esp going in on season 3, when we see more of the fire nation and the show continues to tackle those thicker political themes like propaganda, imperalism, etc. Can't believe we're only a few episodes away from the end of season 2! Can't wait for more

You too boss! Oh man, the CTA, especially the Redline can be a fun nightmare!

Sean TankTop

I’ve dated Greeks before, been to a bunch of Greek weddings. Y’all are insane! 😘

Sean TankTop

real quick, I started cracking up at the CTA comment because I got flashbacks to a time I was on the red line and when I got off there was a guy in a gorilla suit playing the drums with a banana. love you guys and happy holidays

hobopwnr

speaking as a greek, for all greeks, yes greeks are crazy :D

"There is no war in Ba Sing Se. Here we are safe. Here we are free." Honestly I think the running theme of the Earth Kingdom is pretty similar to feudal China. At the very least, it's a large part of the cultural inspiration. I mean, China historically has had a very strict class hierarchy which the powerful have defended with religion, culture, and values of order and tradition, and we see that big time in this place. Not to mention the Dai Li secret police who maintain that order and "disappear" people who show even the hints of dissidence (at least in the upper and middle rings). While North Korea is similar in a lot of aspects, it's honestly probably worse than either Ba Sing Se and China, because those are two (relatively) prosperous nations (at least the bigger cities in China). Just a thought I had.

If this show was airing now that’d be the perfect hashtag
