The Meaning of Family.
Sarah pulled Ashely close. "I am so happy to have you back."
Ashely scoffed. "Oh, are you now." Ashely tried to make herself taller. "Are you yearning for your mistress that badly?"
Sarah sighed. "Come on. We are miles and miles away from the mansion. I am not calling you that."
Ashely giggled. "You know you want to. Besides, if you don't call me mistress, I will only add to your punishment when we get home."
"What!" Sarah's eyes widened. "You can't do that!"
Ashely turned around and put her finger on Sarah's chest. "Oh, is someone telling her mistress what she can and can't do?"
"You are not my mistress out here! And I am not the one who is butt naked." Sarah put her hands on her hips. "I actually get to have some clothing this time around. And it fits!" She smirked. "Those crazy giant folk were good for something." She shook her hips. "Even if. . ." She sighed. "Even if my own mother tried to kill me."
Ashely put her hands on Sarah's shoulders. "Look here. We have no idea if that crazy giantess was telling us the truth. All we know is she wanted to kill you." She shook Sarah. "Do you understand that, Sarah? We don't need to be anywhere near a nutcase like that."
"I. . ."
"No, if's and's or stuttered I's about it. Even if you share blood, she is not your mother. No one on earth could act that way and still be considered family." She smirked. "I should know. My family abandoned me, and well. . . I learned that they weren't my family. Family are the people who love you and who are there for you in the hard times. That bitch back there, if she was your mother, abandoned you at birth and tried to end your life just now. She is NOT family." Ashely arched an eyebrow. "What?"
Sarah laughed. "Carien used to give me pep talks like this before."
"Well, that is because she was the type of person you kept around. She was family." Ashely pulled Sarah in close. "And who knows. You might have found someone else. Hmm?"
"I guess."
"Now stop with the I guess crap. Get commanding."
"I have other special people in my life!" She pulled Ashely in close. "Wonderful people!"
"Good. Now stop squeezing so tight. You don't know your own strength, dear."
"Hehe. Says the mistress. Can't take it?"
Ashely twisted away. "Maybe another time. But not when I am almost fifty feet tall, and everyone can fucking see my exposed—"
"Sarah, there you are!" Karren rushed towards them along with a few other giantesses. "We need you. Now!"
Ashely took a step towards Karren. "I think what you want from Sarah can wait. We have all the dirt on these other giantesses that have been plaguing—"
"WILL YOU SHUT UP! WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT RIGHT NOW! THE BOY THAT CALLEN HAD BROUGHT TO OUR TOWN IS BEING HELD AT GUNPOINT BY SOMEONE YOU BROUGHT HERE, AND HE IS DEMANDING THAT SARAH COME, OR HE WILL KILL THE BOY!"
Sarah gulped. “What?”
Karren took deep breaths. "We heard the shots just a little bit ago. We didn't dare try and force our way in there due to the unstable condition of Fredrick's son. He said he will kill him if he doesn't see you."
"But why does he want me?" she suddenly shivered. "Ughh, that creep was with the giantess appreciation society and kept saying he was my father. I knew he was unhinged."
"Giantess, what society?" Karren narrowed her eyes. "Anyone stupid enough to be in that kind of organization, you should have just stepped on and saved us the trouble. We wouldn't be in this mess." She grabbed Sarah by the collar of her shirt. "Now come on and fix this before he kills the boy!"
"Hey!" Sarah was practically dragged into the giantess village before she could muster up a protest. "God. I am getting sick and tired of other people dragging me around!"
"Here!" Karren dragged her just short of the small building where Fredrick's son Alex and the man with the same name who was now holding the boy at gunpoint. "Do something!"
"What do you want me to do?" Sarah dusted herself off. "Just because he asked for my name, it doesn't mean I can just reach my hand in there and snatch him out!"
Karren screamed at her. "FIX THIS! IT'S YOUR MESS! IF YOU LET SOMEONE DIE HERE SO HELP ME!"
Their eyes turned as Fredricks's son was led to the door at gunpoint by the man claiming to be Sarah's dad. "Well, well. If it isn't, my dear ole daughter. Long time no see." He smiled a much more wicked smile than anything Sarah had ever seen before. "Now then. Let us discuss some business, shall we?"
Sarah fell to her knees and stared him in the eyes. "Alex. Put down the gun and step away from the boy."
He laughed. "That isn't my name. I just came up with it. I don't know why. Just seemed fun to help start that stupid giantess-loving organization back in your home time." He spat. "All you giant bitches can go burn in hell." He pressed the gun against Alex's neck as the boy shrank a few inches. "The name is Chazz. And I am your father." He pressed the weapon tighter against Alex's neck as Sarah opened her mouth. "Don't you dare say something otherwise. I know you are my fucking daughter. I remember everything so vividly. I was in these very mountains when I was much younger, trying to gather wood for the winter as I owned a cabin up here for hunting. One day, I ended up lost in the middle of a storm. I thought I was dead when a tree fell over and trapped me in a ravine."
He snorted. "But then a thing out of a faerie tale happened. A woman of insane proportions found me. She must have been dozens of feet high and was so very, very beautiful. I was scared she was going to end me right then and there by the look in her eyes, but we. . . I won't sugarcoat it. In that moment, we had the best time of our lives. It was a bit. . . well, she probably thought I wouldn't make it through the night anyways, so what was the point."
"Well, by sheer damn determination, I lived. And for a while, I thought, hey, nothing happened other than a fun time and a second chance at life." He pointed at Sarah with his free hand. "Until I saw you on the news. Someone who looked a lot like me. I knew. . . I knew she had you. That bitch. That bitch discarded me. I. . . I could have had a family." Chazz shook the gun shakily. "You are going to help me find her so I can. . . tell her how I feel. Yes. I want to tell your mother how I feel." Chazz pressed the pistol against Alex's neck so tightly that the boy whimpered. "Otherwise, this poor boy won't last long enough for you to save him."
Karren snorted. "But then you won't have anything to protect you!"
Chazz laughed. "So what? There is a lot of pain to go around, and I doubt you giant fools can move fast enough." He laughed. "Do you really want to chance it?"
Sarah looked at Karren and Ashely. "This guy is nuts. I don't want to do what he says." She gulped. "I don't want to lead him back to that mad woman we just left."
"Wait? What mad woman?" Karren narrowed her eyes. "What happened?"
Ashely sighed. "We don't have much choice. We are dealing with a lunatic." She crossed her arms and lowered her voice. "Besides, maybe those two will take care of each other."
Sarah took a deep breath. "You are right." She narrowed her eyes at Chazz. Alright. I am going to pick you up, but you better not do anything funny. You hear me?"
"You just hold up your end of the bargain, and there will be nothing to worry about." Sarah could feel the cold barrel of the pistol pressed against her fingertip. "I am sure a big girl like you doesn't want this thing to go off. Trust me. I don't miss, and I will have you down before you can squeeze me."
She snorted. "Whatever, you little creep." She looked at Ashely. "Let's go. I want to get rid of this asshole as soon as possible."
Ashely nodded her head, and soon, they headed back towards the giant folk encampment. The walk only took about five minutes. Vess was still lying unconscious on the forest floor. "Okay, up you go." Ashely bent down next to Sarah's mother. "You have a visitor."
"Huh?" Vess blinked her eyes. "What?" She narrowed them upon seeing her guests. "You. Why the hell would you—"
Chazz wormed his way through Sarah's palm. "Well, well. If it isn't the woman who decided to save my life. You are looking good."
Vess stopped short. "You. What in the world are you doing here?" She stared at Chazz. "Why the hell would you bring him here!"
Sarah snorted. "Catch." She tossed her father at Vess. "He's your problem now."
Vess fell backward as she struggled to catch Chazz, her eyes widening as she realized he had a weapon. "What is going on? You. . . you are all trying to. . ."
He pointed the weapon straight at her. "Oh, my dear. They had nothing to do with it. I have been planning this for a long, long time. And I am going to savor it. After I deal with you, I am going to take care of your bitch of a child."
"What? You think I want her!"
Ashely put her hand on Sarah's shoulder. "I think we should go."
Sarah nodded her head. "Yeah. Let's let them. . . sort these issues out." She took one last glance back. "Is it bad that I feel nothing?"
"No, hun. Considering what they both want to do to you. It's best you just walk away and put this behind you." They started walking.
"Yeah. It's time I returned to my real mother." A sudden gunshot filled the air. "And tell her how sorry I am for thinking she was never my mother at all while hugging her as tight as I can."
"I think she would like that."
