Plus, Tiresias says that he sees “past and future running free.” I believe the “PAST romance” and sacrifice are moments in the past. The other visions are the future.

More seriously, Polites' death can't really be considered a sacrifice. That implies intent, and everyone but Polyphemus was taken by surprise.
