THE VENGEANCE SAGA - Full Reaction/Analysis

Comments

I heard he said he wanted to do it more anime style, i thought six hudnred strike would've been the spirits of his crew, all their swords pointed towards poseidon and striking with like- Ody leading the charge/strike

Windjäger

Imagine being mentally sane. Couldn't be me

Windjäger

Buy the way when Poseidon says I’ll take your son and gauge his eyes he’s referring to his son the cyclops

Noah Sayre

So my headcannon for this is that after watching Athena fight and "die"(hopefully not) for a mortal Ares decided to keep an eye on him out of respect for her, which is why his eyes turn red and he gets sort of "powered up" after he seemingly dies at the end of get in the water, its Ares pulling him into his version of quickthought to save him not for Odysseus but for Athena

Drew Bull

Honestly, I think there’s a lot of little factors adding up to Poseidon’s defeat in 600 Strike (forgive my mini-essay 😅): First off, there was a lot of emphasis put on “God Move: Shatter the Ocean” in Get in The Water. Poseidon seems almost overwhelmed by the force of his own waves. My interpretation is that he’s temporarily weakened himself by summoning an unnecessary amount of power to kill Odysseus with. He’s an example - kill him in an overblown manner and his ruthless reputation is definitely secured. It shouldn’t matter that he’s temporarily weakened because that should’ve been the end of it. Mentally, he’s already dismissed Odysseus and the man jettisoning himself out of the ocean post-shattering is something he’s unprepared to deal with. Second, I agree that Ares’ quick thought is potentially a factor here. I’ve also seen some talk about how the near death experience temporarily boosted his distant godly blood (Hermes is his great-grandfather). Both combined plus his absolute rage could definitely push his capabilities to new, if temporary, heights. Odysseus is intensely motivated; Poseidon just tired himself out over-dramatically killing a lowly mortal he didn’t really care about dealing with anyway beyond making a point. For just this brief instant of time, it’s not unreasonable to conclude they’re more closely matched than they otherwise would be. Aeolus’ windbag is just a power-up bonus. And though I’m really not sure about this particular factor, the souls of the dead appearing in Get in The Water could also be a factor? Maybe? Perhaps Odysseus’ vengeful “600 Strike” move is quite literally boosted by the souls of his dead men - in being close enough to death to hear them, his power boost to some degree summons them (who, regardless of their feelings about Odysseus, would probably love to help beat up their murderer). With Poseidon temporarily downed, I’m not surprised using his own trident against him works so well. It’s a godly weapon - regardless of the wielder it’s gotta be able to harm gods. All in all, 600 Strike is a VERY interesting song to contemplate logistics-wise. And however unrealistic Poseidon’s defeat can seem in the moment, I believe there’s real factors to explain why. Loved the reaction, Mortius! Your enthusiasm for Epic has really given me a lot of joy🍀

WJKae

I also liked that better. Especially because the livestream version feels a lot like "Six hundred strikes" and not "Six hundred strike". It feels like the animation could have leaned a lot more into the dead men either lending him power or actually striking in a spirit way. Also for me the 3D animation somehow lacked heart compared to the animatics. However everything after Poseidons fall was just stellar.

Levi Ackerman

I Love that we finally get the events of the last lines in “No Longer You” at the end of “Get in the Water”…. “I see you on the brink of death, I see you draw your final breath” as he takes his final breath before fully embracing the new monster Odysseus who is, truly, “ No longer him”😭

Exusiai

Not the PJ pants with the suit 🤣 no this is great

Melinda Angelique Cooper

Did you not know that a lot of Jorges inspiration is anime and games? That's kinda the point

Phoenix Mackenzie

It could be that it's a case of a) He may not be allowed to or b) just Hermes being Hermes 🤷

Phoenix Mackenzie

Same I think duvetbox is more fitting but the original definitely way more jorge

Klaytor

Def not me being angry with Hermes as well with being upset with Hermes for not telling Ody about Mommy Athena

TheParzival

I need a count of how many time mortius walks off the screen in disbelief

BeanHasArrived

I’m gonna be real, I don’t think we’re supposed to forgive Calypso. I do think she crosses the line into a villain that’s “too real” with her manipulative personality, and even if she isn’t overtly cruel or violent like the other villains we’ve seen, I think that line of “I’m sorry my love’s too much for you” is supposed to cement her in that role. That regardless of her intentions to “love” Ody, she broke him in a way none of his other obstacles did because she thought she could force her “love” upon him enough to outweigh his own wants. She put her loneliness ahead of Odysseus’s wellbeing and autonomy without a second thought, because she’s a goddess and he’s a mortal.

Scorpius27

I wasn't actually a huge fan on how "600 hundred strike" was done visually. It just kinda seemed a bit silly that just having a jetpack against a god who can fly makes them just helpless. Duvetbox recently did an animatic for it which I absolutely adore. The choreography in it is so incredibly well done. I'm not saying any more as *everyone* should go see it <3

Sarah Stillman

not adding to the discussion at all, just wanted to say i love me some charybdis appreciation. definitely my favourite song and you're right; that tune jorge sings in "holding on" is so fun.

moala

i would have preferred if the wind simply blew the water away from him in a radius. Throwing down on the bottom of the shore

BoltChaser Snowbird

I personally really hated the whole jet pack thing, it’s just so anime and i just have a lot of issues with this Saga. It’s definitely one of the weakest in my opinion.

Tallulahbell

I'm so happy I wasn't the only one who thought 600 strike was honestly the odd man out. I love the 4 others but 600 really just got too anime/goofy for it to feel like apart of this great musical story telling. When I first heard 600 it really took me out of the immersion and had me making a face ngl lol.

Ariela

I totally get how sometimes when we're passionate about something we come off as more intense then we intended. I think it happens to everyone, good on you for clarifying though!

D B

I agree, and I also think in a literal sense it reflects how using Poseidon's own storm and Aereolus's wind bag is making him physically more than human in the moment as well.

D B

I agree, I don't think you can call Odysseus evil or a bad guy for torturing Poseidon. It may be monstrous, but it's not undeserved.

D B

I really like that theory. I have two myself but I prefer your interpretation. The first of mine is that the souls of his men are restless and can't cross the Styx and so are capable of wandering the Earth, and decided to show up for this encounter to lend whatever support they could to their Captain. The second, and the much grimmer interpretation, goes back to Love in Paradise where Ody is hallucinating the screams and voices of his men. The chorus could be a callback to that, which kind of implies that Ody loses his mind a bit in the process, hearing voices that his own mind is conjuring up.

Scott Woodward

Interesting that Posiedon says "ill take your son and gauge his eyes" what did Ody do to his son, then in the ruthlessness part there is Polyphemus' voice that is coupled with Posiedons voice

Jenna Sandau

Definitely not my least favorite saga by far, but it did feel short.I also wonder though how much would have been in the non singing parts in between. I actually like the 3D animation as I’m aware they are very small creators, and the jet pack wind bag gives it a very video game feel. Probably rushed too. I wonder too if the final saga is very long so this one is shorter to balance it out. 🤷‍♀️

Breanna Marino

Casper is going to be very excited for the Gigi spin

Breanna Marino

When you and Casper eventually do the Dangerous animatic reaction, I’d like to recommend Scilla Nimation’s version. It’s my personal favorite version of the song.

not a alt

That’s not an actual mythology thing

not a alt

oof lol

Phoenix Mackenzie

The only reason I feel the SMALLEST bit of sympathy for this version of Calypso is that she was never taught how to correctly and consensually express love. Imagine a 100 smthn year old preteen emotionally who is also a god and doesn't know boundaries or consent, etc. I'm not defending her at ALL but I am saying there is a definite PSYCHOLOGICAL reason why she is behaving this specific way. She's had no one to base actions off of and no experiences to learn or grow from. Odysseus is quite literally all she's ever known. Children are manipulative as well but that's only because they haven't been taught yet that that behavior is immoral and wrong. It is their parents jobs to correct it at a young age and to teach them right but Calypso doesn't have ANYONE. Fuck Homer's Calypso though, Holy shit she can go die in a hole and rot Not to downplay on your life experiences though, whatever they may be. I have had many an emotionally manipulative relationships and I get where you're coming from if that is the case.

a fan

mortius: mason quick distract them me: oh we are way past that buddy

a_shiny_shrub

me: watches on patreon

a_shiny_shrub

not even 1 minute in and HE WAS RIGHT

a_shiny_shrub

I don’t mind the 3D stuff, but maybe that’s because I was around for early RWBY so I got used to looking past shaky animation and enjoying fight scenes despite them. But as far as the songs/stories, I kinda agree with you

Mortius

I love Epic and I respect how hard these artists work... But personally, I despise the art style chosen for the beginning of Dangerous and the jet pack 3-D stuff. It makes it look really goofy and unserious in ... what's supposed to be the super big bad/final arc of the series. I also feel like the songs and stories were pretty rushed. Still good and I still love Epic but this saga was my least favorite.

Grace Long

Clearly Ody was glad to be out of their, he clearly didn't feel any sort of actual attachment to her(he didn't even slightly look back literally at all, also Stockholm is literally just feeling some form of attachment or sympathy for ones captor), it's more than likely just that she said to lie to her so he did as a way to get her to shut up for his final few moments as he was leaving

Phoenix Mackenzie

I really love your take on it, Phoenix.

Kory Misun

I agree, Poseidon's storm was fueled by vengeance. I'm sure trapping it back in the bag wasn't easy.

Kory Misun

Yeah, it felt very much like he was tending to her feelings so that she wouldn't completely break down. Over the seven years, she probably got incredibly upset to the point that he feared her, and this might have been his only idea to snap her out of it?

Kory Misun

THERES also the fact of stochome syndrom thats the only person he's been with for 7 years, and there are circumstances when people who have been trapped by others coming out of it and being glad they are out of that situation but still that was so much of there life that the some good moments are all you have to hang onto. like finally getting out of a abusive home

Emilee Daniel

I can't argue with that. Personally I can't help but think that they spent 7 Years together alone on the island. Even if he never fell in love with her she probably ended up being a friend, sad as that is. I don't see this Odysseus lying to hurt her. Especially since they were both imprisoned. The differences between this and the odyssey is extremely apparent. Here she's a victim same as Odysseus. Unless there was something said by Jorge that I missed

Ĝ̶͝l̶̆̈ĩ̸͌t̷̽͘c̴̿͑ȟ̴̋

All the anime. Your reactions were great, mirrored my first watch through going, 'Jorge, come on!' lolol

Kyle Clark

I personally like the think the reason why Steven sung some of the screams was because for Ody his screams were literal music to his ears.

Keo

Apparently the yellow looked like mustard and also blended too well with the trident and lightening

Phoenix Mackenzie

Why is it red? That’s was my same reaction!

Mager

FUN FACT:Niel said they're considering animating ALL of the Vengence Saga

Zuku

See with Calypso— I think Calypso is a being who was pushed into horrendous circumstances by forces far beyond her control. She’s doing awful things to suit her own ends, without thinking about what the cost will be for the people around her. Calypso is the monster as much as any of the other antagonists are, her methods are just less outright violent. She’s still the monster, and I think we’re supposed to sympathise with Calypso as much as we do with any of the other terrible beings doing terrible things to protect themselves and theirs— she became the monster a long time ago and this is her form of ruthlessness.

playing-the-Lady-Rebel

he was swimming before wet hades finished the sentence lol

Phoenix Mackenzie

the curse is a pj thing, not in the original, it was to make her more kid friendly

Phoenix Mackenzie

“There are not enough stories these days where the protagonist is not the good guys.” I don’t think that’s quite right. I think Odysseus is the good guy here. He’s just not the nice guy. He’s not the kind guy. He’s doing good. He’s going home to his wife and wants to be with his family and support them. He’s literally fighting through hell and beyond to get home. I can’t think of anything more honorable. But he isn’t being kind. I think the subtlety in the show is astounding because while Poseidon is being ruthless so that people respect him and worship him out of fear, Ody is ruthless for the sake of someone else. Not even just his family, but his kingdom too. It’s pride vs responsibility really, and how far you can take a ruthless act and still be doing what right in the end. Ody said all the way back in “Luck Runs Out”: “I need you to always be devout or we’ll all die in this.” They didn’t listen to him. 10 years he got 600 men through war, but that was against mortals. Deep down Ody knew that against gods and monsters (you know the roster) he wouldn’t be able to get everyone home. Had there been no mutiny, there might not have been anymore death beyond those last 6 men. Sometimes to do what’s right, and get as many people out alive as possible, there has to be terrible things done and horrible sacrifices made. Poseidon wasn’t the only one who turned him into the monster. It was his own crew for not heading his warnings and instructions. TLDR: I think Ody is still a good man and the “good guy” of the story, just driven to do terrible things in worse circumstances.

Slater Bemis

I think hermes was more just saying that he'd have to take big risks to get through this, rather than hinting at a zenkai boost

Griffin Backes

Bisexual panic over Poseidon will never not make me happy- also- I like the idea (even if it’s not canon) that instead of Odysseus fighting Poseidon in 600 Strike- Odysseus unleashes the wind bag at him against the rocks- and alongside him the souls of his men, made of water- are fighting with him in spirit.

Erin Forest

Okay but Mortius hear me out. The line “But I’m sorry my loves too much for you” might be referring to the fact that she had a curse that forced her to love whatever man washed ashore. So her love could literally be too much for him because she didn’t have a choice

Jason Ringhofer

I will say for ‘Not Sorry for Loving You’ I always saw that Odysseus said that to hurt her- considering all she’d done to him.

Erin Forest

I feel like Ody told calypso he loved her to try and get her off his back

Wet Hades

Poseidon: GET in the water. Mortius:* already in the water with the rest of us* Say less...

KarmaStratus18

Something that I don't think I've seen anyone talk about in regards to Six Hundred Strike is that, unlike at the end of Get In The Water, the 600 men aren't physically present. Epic has been very consistent about backup vocals or ensembles for mortal characters needing to be physically present in the scene, and only characters who are more than mortal (e.g. Polyphemus in Survive, Hermes in Wouldn't You Like, or the sirens at the start of Suffering) have ever had additional vocals from a none-present source. This implies to me that in that moment, in fully becoming 'the monster', it symbolises him shedding his humanity to become something more, something capable of fighting Poseidon. It would also link it back to No Longer You; "I see a man who gets to make it home alive, but it's no longer you" meaning not just that he's a different man to the one that left, but that by the time he gets home he's no longer a man at all.

Timothy Powis

I love this saga so much, its just so video game-y/D&D/Adventure and I love it! I will admit, I do love NSFLY but it was also instantly added onto my D&D character's (Styx) playlist because they were in a very similar situation. A person manipulated by a goddess for 15 years, who said she loved them but it wasn't really true love, just obsession. Styx finally managed to read the goddess her rights, told her how much they hurt them and she still tried to turn it back on them. She even started /crying/, which had no effect on Styx but made some of their party members turn on them and try to get them to 'patch things up'. So, I completely understand where you're coming from with it all! PS. I randomly sing Dangerous every day now, its like a little ear worm!

Ellie Giles

im so glad you also share my opinions on not sorry for loving you. as someone whos also been in a not-great relationship the entire song just made me feel icky and hate calypso even more, and i have several criticisms about how it was portrayed

Maxel

I am also of the Ares quick though theory. However, after being reminded of how much more gifted of a man Odysseus is compared to normal humans. Besides him being a genius, his bow, has a 500lb drawstring. The strength among mortals is nuts. Also we did get a hint from Hermes in Dangerous. "I know if you dance with fate, then I know, I know you'll enhance you're state." Hermes told Odysseus that if he were to come close and make it out alive, he'd get a zenkai boost. Combine that with the wind of the storm of all storms right on his back? It makes a lot more sense that he'd stand more of a chance than at first glance.

Ryan Torres

In Get in The Water I never saw all the souls grabbing him as helpful or malicious. I picture it as deaths embrace to Odysseus. He's actively drowning, and can only picture everyone he's lost "waiting" to welcome him to join them. You can see it in his face, whether they actually appear or not, Odysseus is terrified that he's seeing and hearing them. If it was help, I'd imagine we would've seen them help him fight later, but we only get Odysseus on his own.

Ryan Torres

48:27 THATS A GOOD CONNECTION. Plus Little Wolf for Odysseus also makes sense in connection to Telemachus because they’re both going up against an opponent that flat out IS stronger than them. A lot of people suspect that ARES is helping Odysseus in this arc because of what Athena said to him in God Games. So Athena and Telemachus vs Antinous. Ares and Odysseus vs Poseidon. With two very different outcomes. Also kinda unrelated, Odysseus really does become a kind of perfect weapon throughout Epic. He had brains enough for Athena, the strategic God of War to acknowledge him and enough power for Ares, the brute strength God of War, to at least take notice of him.

Kat

omg I just noticed I phrased this like I was attacking you Mortius. I'm so sorry, that's definitely not the case, I meant in general people not getting that the song was meant give you the ick are not paying very close attention.

Lay 1306

I am also on team NSFLY was MEANT to make you feel gross at her, I don't think it was poor writing on Jorge's part at all. 'You're all I've ever known' 'I'm sorry my love is too much for you' 'Let me speak' 'I hate that I fell in love with you' 'Why won't you love me too'. This is textbook narcissistic manipulation cut and dry, you either weren't paying attention to the past saga or you need quite poor comprehension skills to understand this differently. It MAY be because as an immortal she is very VERY young and is indeed written as a child throwing a tantrum after someone takes her favorite toy away but the point is that it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter to us as the audience and it CERTAINLY doesn't matter to Odysseus who leaves without ever even thinking of looking back. The 'I love you' was simply Odysseus trying to be not as much of and asshole as he wanted to be to her cause at the end of the day he IS grateful for the 7 years Calypso gave him shelter, food and company regardless of how he very much did NOT ask for that.

Lay 1306

I think I am on the minority that does think the spirits were pulling him down. Thing is that it wasn't malicious intent or them 'trying to kill him'. He died, he DID die by poseidon's attack. As the prophet said he indeed took his last breath. The spirits were welcoming him to the afterlife with 'open arms'. But his spirit refused and was then rebirth as a full fledged monster. Which is also why I am actually not very convinced Ares had any part in it. Odysseus just reached literal rock bottom and awoke divine rage, since he IS part god no matter how little that part is.

Lay 1306

I honestly just saw NSFLY as a tantrum. Calypso, as a goddess, can’t fathom a mortal not falling for her. Even in the Odyssey, she said she was so much better than Penelope as she was perfect and immortal. She even offered Odysseus immortality but he refused so he could get home.

MildlyPerturbed

That’s very understandable! I interpret it very differently, but I respect that, and that’s whats great about art. Things are up for interpretation. I wish you health and continued care in your future.

Ratatosk Clarke

actually just for clarification 'it was meant to stop you by design' is referring to the storm, not the bag, and the storm was casted by poseidon as you can see

Lay 1306

I appreciate your reply. Thank you for checking on me. I am thankfully in a much better place have found my support systems and have been receiving professional help to maintain my relationships as well as look after my own wellbeing. I'm in a much better place than I was years ago. I personally disagree that she isn't written with nuance, because it would have been so much easier to just write her as plain off manipulative without helping people sympathize with her at all, just as another villain, and yet in the two songs we get that's not what happens, and as a writer myself, I can tell there was raw emotion put into her songs by Jorge. I appreciate characters who don't grow or learn on screen and we never get to know if they learn or not. It's a beautiful, true tragedy for me because it happens in real life a LOT. Some people NEVER learn the way we expect them to and we judge their existence for it. We refuse to let ourselves humanize them out of fear and hatred and so often in real life that makes the mentally ill struggle so much in finding the professional help they need. People with borderline personality disorder for example: I have friends diagnosed with it that hold Calypso's song so very dearly because it's one of the few media that approach their experiences not necessarily in a negative nor positive light. I also kind of weirdly appreciate the specific wording of her farewell to Odysseus. "Then I am sorry my love's too much for you." hits home for me VERY much because despite knowing it's wrong, I just understand every bit of it. She's so wrong for so much she's done but she feels the most human to me in this saga and is one of my favorites besides Athena. I completely understand if others don't see this the way I do though, as again this is all based on deeply rooted memories and experiences for me. I also appreciate the reminder that her situation is not mine and that I shouldn't take it personally. It's easier said than done but I am doing my best to practice it. Thank you again.

Tinysweetbunny

This is intended with utmost respect and care, coming from someone who went through something similar and hurt others by mistake: the issue for me is she’s really not written very nuanced here. She’s very one note, her apology is not her genuinely being sorry for hurting him, its for her “love being too much for him.” She hasn’t grown from this, she’s still someone who thinks that what she did wasn’t really wrong. That’s literally in the song title. She is not sorry, she does not see it as a mistake. I love Calypso as a character and I think the origins of her mythos and her many adaptations and interpretations are so interesting. There is a way to write Calypso as sympathetic and as complex. This just isn’t that. So I think you should take a second and breathe. People being upset at her and disliking this version of her, or disagreeing with the way she’s written, does not mean that your experiences are invalid. Because she isn’t you, she is a very one note character in a musical. I am genuinely sorry that people are attacking you and saying you are dumb for liking her, but critiquing the character and making jokes about how the writing for her was poor is not directed at you or a judgement of your experiences, or anyone who has gone through those experiences. I genuinely hope you are able to find some peace and care outside of this show because a lot of the people who like this show are very young and just say shit sometimes. I promise you I don’t think you’re a bad person if you relate to the song. That doesn’t mean I think it’s a good song though, and I will not be afraid to talk about that. I have gone through similar things and I understand how hard it is. I hope you are okay.

Ratatosk Clarke

I knew you wouldn't like the first song, and as someone who sees so much of themself in Calypso's pain, I knew it would hurt me a lot to see you mock her as well, though I don't blame you. I've been both the victim (of SA and grooming) and the person causing pain, both in my young age and my teen years. I'm not here to defend Calypso and say that she did nothing wrong, but my GOD she is humanized in the most painful way for me. I used to be that desperate kid who grew up alone desperate for connection without ever being taught how to maintain my relationships. I've hurt and been hurt in the process for clinging to every bit of love that would come my way and have driven people away OR been used by others in the process. I don't care that people don't like Calypso, because I'm sure they all have reasons to but my god did I wish people wouldn't go after those who sympathize with her just to criticize them and call them horrible people with 0 media literacy. Calypso's character is insanely nuanced and it's allowing a lot of different people with different opinions to connect to her songs in some way, I wish those people wouldn't be at each other's throats for "who has the better opinion." when our opinions are formed by our own personal experiences. I wish this song would instead encourage understanding of different people's lives, without making people feel like mistakes are trying to be justified. Mistakes are human. Causing pain unintentionally is also human, whether we like it or not. Sorry for the ramble, I just had to get this off my chest somewhere. This saga opened up a lot of old wounds for me and made me feel so many things so fshhgjhgh

Tinysweetbunny

I don't think they were pulling him down, I think Polites words were pretty literal - he can relax. He can let go. It's okay if he stops fighting now, he's done so much already, they're there, he's not with Penelope but he's not alone, either. Whether he keeps fighting or not, they're with him.

anni davison

🤣 it's great lol

Phoenix Mackenzie

She told him to lie to him, so he did(ily), she then believed him(you do?)

Phoenix Mackenzie

I've seen others(which I'm inclined to agree with) saying they're pushing him up, like "we died from your determination to make it home, your living and getting home or it was pointless"

Phoenix Mackenzie

This song just made me hate her more, I didn't know that was possible, it's so much her just trying to manipulate Ody into "it's your fault I feel this way so it's your problem" hfjahfjs

Phoenix Mackenzie

So glad I'm not the only one who still absolutely hates Calypso I get so angry at the people who defend her

Olivia Taylor

Returning to say 1) excellent reaction as always, 2) I highly recommend MaevetheFae’s animatic for Not Sorry (it shows Calypso in a much harsher light than most of the animatics do, with the accompanying CWs for seeing some unpleasant stuff), and 3) how wild is the start of Dangerous when listened to right after Casper’s underworld saga fansong??? It’s kinda uncanny, I couldn’t help but think of it when I was in the livestream.

CinnaScone

There’s an excellent animatic to this effect that dropped yesterday on YouTube by MaevetheFae. Obviously requires the associated CWs (bruises, self harm, manipulation, toxic relationship, etc etc) but it definitely shows Calypso in a much harsher light than the official animatic did, and highlights that Ody’s “I love you” was purely a tactic to shock her enough to get her to back off for a moment.

CinnaScone

ps. ps casper is the prophet because he literally made his own version of 600 man and it very simular to how dangerous did it even the pause for where the crew would chime in

Klaytor

ps i always have the first few seconds of diffrent beast play on im not sorry for loving you because it gos, why in the world wont you love me too- LETS CUT THIS SARADE YOUR NO WIFE OF MINE

Klaytor

FINALLY someone else calls out calipso on her trying to shift guilt onto ody

Klaytor

I've been waiting to see what you thought was going on with the "spirits"(?) and whether or not they were dragging him down. Like I understand it for the men and maybe even Eyury(?) but not poloties(?) and his mom, like why?

NoBody

I’ve been sooo excited for this video!

Nyneroonio

I've been going through some struggles mentally. Seeing you be able to joke about you're mental health is a bit of a refresher. I do hope you're genuinely okay.

Silver

What’s crazy is I was literally reading the comments from the other post as I typed and it still went to this one for some reason

Lauren Hedman

Oops I totally did 😭

Lauren Hedman

Don't worry about the added plural lol I've heard many variations. Six Hundred Strike, Six Hundred Strikes, Strike of the Divine Whoopee Cushion... There are countless.

LoftyDaBird

I think you commented on the wrong post 🤣 But it’s AJR inspired, so good catch!

Mortius

I’m so glad you hated Calypso as well. I feel so validated that I’m not alone. I’ve seen so many people baby her after this song. “Oh but she was so lonely!” AND?! That does not mean you get to ignore people’s consent! I am so mad at this song (not Jorge or Wangui, both are amazing and the song is fantastic just. Everything else). And Ody’s ILY gives me the ick, cause she literally manipulated and used magic to force him to be with her for 7 years. She could have had a friend, and instead she forced him to pretend love to the point he wanted to throw himself off a cliff. Ew. Otherwise amazing reaction as always!!!!

Kathrine0114

You're always so observant. Noticing the flecks of glittering gold in the blood. The flecks of gold are also on the album cover art. You can see it clearly on the blood on the rocks.

G D S

Poseidon yelling “Monster” was my favorite part!

Miranda Carter

The vibe of this song gives me AJR vibes. Thank you for giving us this song today <3

Lauren Hedman

I def feel your feelings when I heard the song and knowing what she did to Ody. I get the ick so bad. BUT I LOVE THE SONG IF I THINK OF IT AS A SONG OF A ONE SIDED RELATIONSHIP OF STRANGERS 😭😭

Desiree

I didn’t feel so good today and then your reaction popped up! Resubscribed to your Patreon immediately (one can’t afford so many subscriptions all at once) and don’t regret it! You made my day better! Thank you! <3

Nanao

one day its gonna fall lol, especially with how much he puts it through

Phoenix Mackenzie

also she said to lie to her, so he did then she believed it... like tf

Phoenix Mackenzie

sadly ive seen people who know the original also pittying her...

Phoenix Mackenzie

Why is the begining so chaotic KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

Fernanda Semideus

i saw people saying how the screams are melodic cz they're music to odys ears too also yes screams are DM

Phoenix Mackenzie

Something interesting in „not sorry for loving you“ is the chorus. It sounds like Odysseus. Which makes sense, since his voice is the only other one Calypso knows by heart

Iris Schnabel

I don’t know if I’m just hearing things, but I’m pretty sure Poseidon’s screams are the danger motif.

Danielle T.

Valid feelings for Not Sorry For Loving You. Love the song, personally, but the range of emotions this song makes various people feel is huge. Personal stories, history, and external factors viewers bring to a piece of music ALWAYS changes the perspective. I love that there is such a huge variance in response actually. Musically it is absolute fire!

Miranda Carter

I think she was trying to emotionally manipulate Ody into staying on his own accord. I honestly wish we had a Calypso and Hermes song between to give a little context...that being said, the song is so pretty. Jorge said he was in a really rough place when he wrote it and i think thats why it hits the way it does. Sometimes to write dark stuff you have to sit in the shadows for a little while. Ive been listening to Dangerous nonstop. I came here for Epic but left wanting you to be the live action Doofenshmirtz. That impression was spot on! Lol "Next to Jimmy's mom" Great reaction! I hope you feel better. <3

Shay-Thelogicaldreamer

Not Sorry for Loving You is a bop, musically, yes, but fully listening to the lyrics gives me the ick. I LOVE her voice, and I LOVE that J is at least establishing that Odysseus only had a platonic relationship with Calypso, and was still faithful to Penelope.

Heart Of Virgo

"I see you on the brink of death. I see you draw your final breath. I see a man who gets to make it home alive But it not longer you" Did not expect the prophecy to be fulfilled like that. Odyssey the man is dead, only the monster remains.

Billy Jo Hunia

Mortius! This is Wendy/NS2D Studio explaining why they and Jorge did not go with golden Ichor! https://www.instagram.com/p/DB3WXPDC2Vc/?hl=de Maybe this would be fun to show Caspar in Open Arms?

Excelsius

there’s an interesting fan theory for 600 Strike where people say the reason Poseidon’s cries sound so melodic, is bc his cries are music to Odysseus’ ears 😭😭😭

Jennifer Rose

Hey Mortius, loved the reaction, been excitingly awaiting it and it did not disappoint. I would like to currently point out something I don't know if anyone else realized but Casper has just hit all of us with a nat 30 prediction cause if you remember he made a full speed ahead reprise that also didn't have the crew responding the background vocals so he basically nat 30 predicted the beginning of dangerous. Do with this info what you will

Dorian Venta

Maybe you didn't notice, but the strikes of the Trident had the same time of landing of Polyphemus' club

Manuel

I'd love it if you react to the hod games animation of neil it's really so good!

Nehir Uysal

A lot of peoples only know Calypso from the Percy Jackson franchise, not the odyssey, that's why ^^'

Sin

Finally someone who reacts to Not Sorry For Loving You properly! I don't get why so many people can feel bad for Calypso.

Jurassic FREAK

i really needed this... also not broken mortius after posiedon

tristan

I have mixed feelings on NSFLY, like I think part of it may be genuine but a good portion feels like she's just trying to find the right thing to get Odysseus to stay. I feel bad for Calypso's circumstances but not with everything that she did to Odysseus. I was like you where at first when she says "for that I'll say I was wrong" I was hoping maybe she was actually showing some remorse for what happened but then she said "I'm sorry my love is too much for you" and I just felt myself cringe thinking of what that that sounds like. It makes me think of the villans/antagonists who have sympathetic circumstances but are terrible, they act terribly and a lot of what they do most people would find unforgivable e.g Luke from Percy Jackson and Snape from Harry Potter. I despise both with a fiery passion and I hate that so many people go on and on about forgiving them when they barely did anything. So yeah, mixed feelings.

JustIJess

So maybe I haven’t seen any Danny videos and just subbed for more Epic content! (Ngl, I should watch the Hazbin and Good Omens reactions, though)

Rite

Okay I lied I'll do *some* of the ramble here, lol. So I firmly believe Not Sorry is meant to showcase Calypso being manipulative. I know she's meant to be more sympathetic in Epic than she was in the Odyssey but she's still be written in a very manipulative way, and I think it's intentional a) because Jorge is very good at this shit and b) because the official animatic shows Ody looking kinda dead inside, like he's been putting up with her shit for years now and he's telling her he loves her just to stop her from continuing to rev herself up. Maybe he felt some sympathy for her at some point but he's just so fucking tired now, and that comes across in the animatic and the passionless vocals from Jorge. I know as well that Jorge wrote this while he was in a pretty bad place mentally and it really helped him, he doesn't talk about it much but considering how authentically Calypso is written as an emotionally manipulative narcissist it wouldn't shock me if he had some experience that informed that, but of course that's just speculation. He's said a few times though that Not Sorry is a really important song to him that helped him though a dark time. I wanted to add that now purely so if you see this hopefully it'll help you enjoy the song a bit more for what it seems to be as opposed to it feeling like it's some kind of justification for her. Calypso is trying to justify herself, but the song itself is an authentic look at those sorts of relationships. Knowing that helped me enjoy it so hopefully it can help others too <3 On to the rest of the saga! FULL SPEED AHEAD!

anni davison

“Has anyone ever done that at the peak of their mental health “ lmfao fucking mood. Okay better question then - can we do anything? I’ll save the proper ramble for YouTube gotta get that engagement but good to have you back.

anni davison

If I were in Odysseus' place, I'd be thankful for not losing my mind on that island by myself and unable to leave. At least Calypso provided someone to think, talk and mourn their sad lives with.

Kory Misun

And we see his 'final breath!'

Kory Misun

awesome to see some charybdis appreciation, its my favorite song in the saga and its nice to see someone point out my favorite progression in the chorus 600 strike is such a mixed bag for me, i'll condense the essay i'd initially written to 'the middle section feels off, even with all the artists' and jorge's talents coming together for it, but the beginning underwater and the entire ending felt perfect to me, so i don't know how to feel' first time commenting anything on the patreon lol, very glad to be here, great reaction ^^

nemesisvariant

hit him so hard with the ball it flung him three sagas ahead

MoonLilyStudios2

I thought this IMMEDIATELY when I was watching the livestream! Extremely delayed nat 20!

CinnaScone

Another hint to Odysseus likely receiving a little bit of divine help against Poseidon is the fact that he has backing vocals in his song

Keicod

You're also very right to be angry at Calypso's non-apology. I'm 50/50 split on hating and pitying her. She did wrong, there's no 'if,' and she never says 'I Am Sorry for Hurting You!' Dangerous might be the best 'Get This Done' song ever written in history. When it comes to Get in the Water, ho boy, you can tell that Poseidon and Hades are brothers here. They have to make decisions that are cruel or seem absolutely heartless so that they'll be respected and can maintain control of their domains. Don't worry, Gwendy has a Whole Video explaining about 600 Strike and the choice you were wondering about. *Thumbs up!* You aced the flecks!

Kory Misun

Oh Mortius. Thank you for sharing your humanity and real self with us, and helping us get through moments when we feel like we're experiencing darkness all alone. We are truly the farthest thing we can be from alone, and that always makes me feel better. *Thumbs Up!* I hope the uplifting parts of this Saga do their job, and give you new energy. Anything Troy sings does that for me. We have so much admiration and platonic affection for you, Casper, and every single one of your editors. If you sang Suffering with those low tones, I think it would tingle everyone's spines, that was amazing.

Kory Misun

You both have valid points, no sweat

Josie Martinson

Estaba casi segura de que podrías llorar en la última parte, y diste exactamente el mismo grito que yo en " "With my wife" asombroso!!

CalisaRoll aye

The red blood was for two reasons One the gold blood looked like mustard And it also got lost in Zues' lightning and posiedon's trident 54:55 "I see you on the brink of death"

Chase Elmquist

The first part of dangerous reminds me of Casper's fan song he did for Underworld, To predict the first song of that album.

MoonLilyStudios2

I was thrown off by Odysseus saying "I love you" to Calypso too. But I've seen a few people comment that Odysseus saying "I love you" to Calypso was meant as a small comfort but even then he couldn't straight lie to her and finished with the "but not in the way you want me to" and I like that take a lot! It's definitely how I hear/see it now

geekygiraffe

I love your random singing

Josie Martinson

I an actually glad to see you react the same way I did to not sorry for loving you. It left me with a bitter feeling 😭🙏

Honey Bee

Sometimes I just hypnotically stare at the bouncing microphone. Happy to see you again mortius:) I hope you've enjoyed your break, super jealous that you got to see teagan's concert live

Anthony

I like to believe Odysseus drowned and the monster was truly born. It would be almost sad to see the “hero” truly become monstrous

Eric

The “If I had a nickel for every time this little human escaped death with a wind bag, I’d have two nickels” meme 😂😂😂😂😂

Celaceial

I'm literally just beginning this, but your commentary about your cover this morning (excellent by the way) is literally THE MOST relatable thing I've heard in a while. Thanks for including it, makes me feel a little less alone.

CinnaScone

When I watched this live I turned to my daughter and said, "Mortius is gonna hate 'I'm not sorry for loving you.'" I'm really curious if Jorge deliberately made her apology so manipulative or if he just was unaware of the ludicrously poor phrasing. Especially "my love is too much for you." 🤦‍♀️

Imara121

I'm dying laughing, when oy was drowning, and mortius said Air and the water I started saying, "Air and the water" in the "get int the water" melody lmaoooo

Sam Bauer

this was delightful to watch, I was beaming ear-to-ear the entire way.

Beckerini

Odysseus performing Omnislash on Poseidon was not on my 2024 bingo card, but here we are

Beckerini

Also it being called the vengeance saga, it's a plot twist like the blood in the cover art. It's about Odysseus's vengeance, not Poseidon's.

MsPurpleDancer

And it’s worth noting that it’s not a pack of wolves swimming with the shark, but one lone Little Wolf

carly holgerson

I read the EPIC version of it as being Zeus who put Odysseus there as well. "To untie apprehensions that were placed on that Greek." makes it extremely clear that Ody didn't wash up on that island by coincidence. And who can dictate punishments on humans if not the King of the Gods, himself? Also given Calypso's lyrics of "I've spent my whole life here, cast away when I was young, alone for 100 years" its like taking a teenager in their most formative years and isolating them from the world - she doesn't have anyone around to learn right and wrong from because she was the pretty much the godly/demigod version of a child who didn't want to side against her parents in a war and was punished for it. She comes off as VERY manipulative, but I'm honestly not sure if she has the lived experience to know that what's she's doing. Can someone who's never been able to properly interact with people (i may be misremember mythos here, but I believe humans were created AFTER she was imprisoned, I can't really remember), so the only experience she would have would be with the Titans and the Gods, who aren't exactly the greatest role models.

Ashley

I was smiling the whole video

Dakota Pieniazek

For the red blood thing, Gwendy has said it was an artistic decision (made by Jorge), as gold didn't really stand out against the skin as well as the red does. Apparently it looked like mustard. Plus it blended into the trident and zues's lightning. The animator for the end of god games also mentioned that Athena's blood being red there is representative of her becoming more human, which sorta works here as well. Although if you look as the album cover there are bits of gold in the Blood there. Someone has also pointed out that the stab wounds match the sounds in the song-he makes noises when stabbed in the stomach, but not it the throat. Plus it looks like he's missing an eye in the full shot of the body (like father, like son).

Gina

That explains alot.

BlueFanfictionInc

Apologies. I didn't mean to come off that way. I did read somewhere that Zeus probably had a hand in it, and it made sense to me, given how cruel Zeus can be. I wasn't trying to defend in any way.

Doc Nagalli

I don’t think there’s much evidence that Zeus trapped him on the island. In Love in Paradise she refers to being under HER spell—she’s the one trapping Ody there. That said, I feel the same for Calypso that Mortius seems to, and I honestly think that trying to make survivors sympathize with a CLEARLY manipulative person is a super busted thing to do. A lot of people are doing it, and it’s honestly kinda toxic. We can feel how we feel about her, and she’s fictional so she doesn’t need all these defenders.

Tessara Dudley

I think "Not Sorry For Loving You" is intended to humanize Calypso. Obviously she's not a great person but she was also isolated for a century and cursed to be trapped there forever, it's understandable that the isolation drove her mad. And I don't think it's canon that Epic!Calypso assaulted him like in most renditions either. Idk I sympathize with her, but I definitely don't forgive her.

Catherine Jones

So when I saw the ending I knew you wernt ready for this one 600 strike was the final song we knew nothing about other then the opening line but ya on the topic of the battle ody i believe somewhere in the lore of epic can just channle quick thought from athena. But I can also say since Jorge has this fascinating thing of explaining his mentality on the gods ares quick thought when bestowed makes the user more ferocious so i can easily see ares giving a boon to have ody follow through on athenas argument in God games ' if you want more bloodshed then set him free. To get back to his homestead he'll make everybody bleed'

Hunter

Welcome back! We’ve missed you!

Tone87

I know this was the request for youtube comments but my favorite winion is the twerking one <3

Alex Gukgak

For anyone wondering about that 600 strike attack it was inspired by cloud stifes omnislash limit attack from ff7

Naya

But did you notice the heartbeat in Get In The Water?!!! I love it so much! It's such a good effect. The way it slows when Poseidon shows up and scares Odysseus, then speads up when Ithica and his family is threatened. When you can you've gotta listen for it. It adds so much to that build up. It shows up again when Odysseus pleads with Poseidon, steadier, like he's trying to calm himself. And one hard but muffled beat when he falls into the ocean, which stops when the dead start singing. And as for the Ares bit, loads of people think the same. I think it might even be canon. Tumblr has some excellent art following through on the concept floating around. If you can I definitely reccomend scrolling through it, or asking someone to pick a few out for you. They're so good. Hope you feel better soon XD

DrivingMeBonkas

I think you're too harsh on Calypso. At least this version of Calypso. If it's anyone you should be angry at, it's Zeus. He was the one who trapped Calypso there when she was young. And knowing how she'd be to finally having a conpanion, he trapped Odysseus there too. Not saying what she did to him was right, it was absolutely messed up. But I'd say they're both victims to circumstance. Calypso then had someone she couldn't completely have, and Odysseus was trapped with someone he doesn't really want. Also the theory about Ares giving Ody a boost in Six Hundred Strike honestly makes the most sense, because Jay did say that his quick thought is more centered around rage. And Ody is the angriest he's ever been in this song. Also Ares is said to have a vendetta against Poseidon, so Ares could have pushed Odysseus to torture Poseidon. Another sign that Ares could have been there were the prominent snare hits in the percussion AND the fact that there are backing vocals. So there is obviously some divinity happening around there. I have been waiting for this reaction and Caspers too, and I'm so happy I'm finally getting to see them.

Doc Nagalli

It was such an amazing saga, I stayed up to watch it. At 1.30am the whole thing started. I didn't sleep afterwards as I was so buzzing and shocked and processing it all.

Liz Lilliman

Jay actually kept 600 Strike so secret I don't think anyone knew anything about it, it was wild

Zane C

As an aside, Poseidon drowned most of his crew, waited on a beach for 10 years out of extreme pettiness (I also kind of love your take that he and the Suitors might have had some sort of team up “the wolves are swimming with the shark now”), then threatened to kill Penelope, Telemachus and his kingdom very horrifically. Soz Poseidon, he f*cked around and found out. Odysseus wasn’t gonna be the bigger person, he was gonna be the bigger problem 😬🔱

Paige EJ

Neal did confirm they were gonna do a couple songs from Vengeance and some from Act 1 as well 👀👀👀

Dani

Had to also lie down for awhile after Six Hundred Strike 😅 after listening to it for a week now, it’s become my favourite the saga. The audio’s 🔥. Love that the ghosts of his crew have become his chorus when he’s his Monster self, because he integrated his Monster down in the Underworld, so it makes sense to me why it’s the one thing that breaks Jorge’s rules about humans and gods and choruses. I also really liked Odysseus in Get in the Water, using Polites’s way of trying to convince Poseidon to get a freaking hobby- sorry, forgive lol he still has that humanity inside of him. He still very much is human and trying. But he won’t let that kindness get him killed. His Monster saved his life (and his wife, son and kingdom eventually by extension).

Paige EJ

calypso's song is so fascinating to me, the relationships between gods and mortals in greek mythology never works because of the inherit power imbalance and it really comes through in the way that calypso demands that odysseus fall in love with her with no regard for how he feels because gods cannot comprehend a mortal resisting them, it doesn't really feel like a pro calypso song to me even though some of the lyrics are iffy it just shows how little calypso really understands odysseus

Robin

I think im going crazy a bit but does anyone hear the same or similar cadence or drum beat where calypso is singing "I'm angry and tired and restless and sad" etc.. like that of when Odysseus was singing in monster "If we sail through dangerous oceans and beaches" etc.. If not similar then I'm hearing something that's not there but if so I have a small theory as to why its there. Theory: Of course, we all know Calypso used the same words from Polites, Eury, and Ody's mom to keep Ody with her, so what if he mentioned something about the 'monster ody' and now shes using it as a tactic to make him stay as a way to show him that she relates to him or wants to save him. Idk how to really finish this theory but that's just my thoughts.

Jesse Dueitt

I love that you were like one of two or three people that picked up on the lack of crew response in dangerous

Morgan Robertson

I am so happy to have your reaction to not sorry for loving you. I felt like i was going insane with how many people online celebrated Calypso and failed to see the manipulation. The song is gorgeous and i will listen to it, but i dislike the context. But if i imagine it as another story without all the icky bits, its like a classic breakup song.

CalvinTheCat

This was certainly a rollercoaster of emotions! Thank you for taking us through it all at once without a mental health break. Nice to hear Mason.

Dorothy Rosenberg

The thing is though, there's space for both reactions at the same time. I can see that Callipso has not had it easy and there is a reason for the way she reacted to Ody arriving and still think the way she acted was wrong and her lyrics on her last song were manipulative.

Ness228

Mortius: What is Six Hundred Strike about Me: *voicing Zeus* I don't think you're ready (from horse and the infant)

Nola Scott

Gwendy did a great BTS and Q&A about their livestream Animatics that is worth checking out, for anyone interested in that kind of thing!

Tessara Dudley

Such a good pick up about the link between Little Wolf and Poseidon!!

Paige EJ

Ik Mortius, Ik. None of us were expecting that ending, Six Hundred Strike was surreal. Absolutely insane

Itzayana

I don't think “Not sorry for living you” is supposed to be a “forgive Calypso 'cause look how sad she is” song, I think it's meant to give the listener more sympathy and understanding of her character. Teach us that she is not an evil monster but a complicated individual who was cursed as a child for no good reason to be alone and therefore does not posses the understanding of what is and is not ok in most social interactions. But with all of that she is still responsible for her actions and when Ody clearly tells her no she still pushes wich is incredibly bad and inexcusable, her being a victim of the curse does not allow her to victimize Ody, I just think it's important in a story to be clear on the details of who a character is and where their actions are coming from and I think NSFLY does a good job conveying why Calypso is doing what she's doing, that she's not evil but still doing an evil thing, not too dissimilar to Ody himself in some contexts. Also I don't believe Cal is ever intending to be abusive and manipulative but she still is.

Rebecca Pettersson

Also the end of Get in the Water is part of Tiresias’s prophecy

Jacob Minger

I’m glad you skipped the trailer for this saga because the scene with “Cthulhu Poseidon” (that’s what I’m calling him) from Get in the Water was the trailer

Jacob Minger

Mortius being way to relatable in the first couple just for Patreon minutes 😅

Ashley Evers

Love this

Eli

So i like that last part but flipped in ruthlessness posiden says there is a price to pay for mercy well the price was the death of open arms ody and posiden birthed full ruthless ody

Hunter

Also while I’m on the subject🤣: Hermes says “ik if you dance with fate, then ik you’ll enhance your state. Could be a callback to Ody eating the Holy Moly root vs Circe, but I like the idea that Hermes is referencing the prophecy. “I see you on the brink of death, I see you draw your final breath, I see a man who gets to make it home alive, but it’s no longer you”. And we see that play out at the end of Get in the Water/beginning of 600 Strike Poseidons screams are melodic cause they’re music to Odys ears (favorite fan theory) Odys eyes are red because Ares took him into HIS quick thought while Athena is out of commission (second favorite fan theory) And finally, I’m 100% convince that ody’s “maybe you could learn to forgive” towards Poseidon was him giving Poseidon 1 last chance to turn away, I will not be convinced otherwise🤣🤣

Eli

😳

Mortius

Hearing you say that you were doing Get In the Water and 600 Strike in separate videos made me so sad for the YouTube watchers because omg it's such a cliffhanger to do it like that

Zane C

Just wait until Mortius realizes that Ody summoned backup singers for 600 strike, just like gods do…. Or monsters

Eli

I'm not sorry made me so angry but it's people's literacy about that song that got to me. People using it to excuse Calypso's actions make my wall look yummy.

InhabitedArtist

The shock of Get In The Water not being the last song killed me

Stephanie Haskett

I've been so looking forward to your reaction, "I'm not sorry" hit me like a truck of revulsion for uh. Similar reasons? Lovely but oof.

sephet

Not Sorry for Loving You gave me the biggest ick. I don’t feel bad for Calypso at all either in that song, even though I feel bad for her overall circumstances. My take is that being a victim does not entitle anyone to being a predator/abusing someone else, and with the power difference, psychological abuse, Calypso’s inability to hear “no” - that’s EXACTLY what it is. I also hate Odysseus’s line of “I love you but not the way you want me too” — why is that even there??? That’s not in Odysseus’s character at all to say in EPIC. The song gave me major “feel sorry for me because I love a married man I’m trying to force and manipulate” - um, NO. Get out of your Zeus era, girlie. The only way I’ve been able to feel kind of at peace with the song is one of the cut songs “Appetite” had Odysseus using his cunning to trick Calypso into thinking he was seducing her when he was actually lying to her (we even hear a version of Circe’s instruments in the background). There’s this sense of Odysseus still using every trick up his sleeve against a Goddess and still harkens back to his “Monster/Different Beast” mindset that we just saw in the Thunder Saga, but also using Circe’s way of manipulation “There are other ways”. I really like that a lot better and was a great chance for motifs. I could see Odysseus’s “I love you but not the way you want me to” as a form of emotional manipulation/or his way of getting some kind of control by hurting her back. But I don’t feel Jorge intended that in this song. And it just feels…super icky. Thank you for validating a lot of us who feel that way too, Mortius. Thank god Dangerous is right after 😂

Paige EJ

Oh don’t worry, I’m also getting in the water lol

Montavious

‘Avengers Endgame of animatics’ That’s gonna be AMAZING😃😁

Itzayana

She is actively pursuing a happily married man and is forcing him to sleep in the same bed with her and basically refusing to accept his no for an answer. She then guilt trips him in this song by saying "yeah i did bad things but you shouldnt hate me bc i just loved you too much!!" as if loving someone is ever an excuse to push someones boundaries and the line of consent. This Calypso (and PJO) are both just barely not HORRIBLE people, but there is genuinely no way to make her a good person. She will always pursue people who do not want her and she will refuse to listen to them. That is her unfortunate reality and its sad and makes her sympathetic but she is still a bad person for her behavior.

Ashes2Ash

also fun fact about charybdis. jorge used actual whale song for her roars

ShadowFox1412

I threw a book during her song 😂😂

Stephanie Haskett

Even if there were no wrong *actions* performed there is still textbook emotional manipulation present in BOTH her songs

Mortius... Put the shoe down 😂😂😂 Honestly though she upset me too.

Mortius, stop being so relatable lmaoooo (I do hope you’re doing well after the trip though, post meetup depression is pain but it will go away eventually 💜)

DragonTamer200

HOLY- YES! LETS DO THIS!!!!

Itzayana

I'm so happy! I knew you would catch the manipulation in sorry for loving you and not have any sympathy!!! ❤️❤️

Blobsessed

Not Sorry For Loving You is like, beautiful delivery but I hate it on principal, can't stand her gaslighting so much. Rest of the saga is great just, ugh, I feel for Jorge since he said this song means a lot to him (or wrote when he was in a low place I forget the exact comment he made on the live).

Hannah Jane

Bo Burnam has so many apt songs when you're fine but not okay. From a fellow depressed bean, lots of love to you.
