Twisted - Act 1, Part 3

Even when I don't accidentally cut a song early, Adobe does it for me apparently! Here's the last part of that first recording session, in all its glory (skip to the 7 minute mark if you already watched the full first upload)

The Eurylochus feels hitting you was my favorite actually

D. Sparrow

There is something very funny about referencing harry potter on a starkid play lol, he doesn't even know about AVPM

Masochismet

The switch-up from "follow the golden rule" to "follow the gold and rule" is GENIUS!!!

Addy0302

The Draco Malfoy war flashbacks get me every time.

Panda Creations

Starkid always has social commentary as a part of their shows, it's basically baked into the formula. I think it's okay if you talk about whatever you want to talk about, and approach it from whichever angle interests you most. For me, it's you sharing this experience with us that's valuable, and if I learn something new from you, then great, but if not, it's still worth the time. I'm not sure if that's more or less helpful for you lol

Panda Creations

I love Galavant! That would be a great next series.

Tessara Dudley

13:08 As soon as they said “my hunger blinded me and forced me to act like an animal,” I KNEW what was coming. 🤣

Tessara Dudley

alright, I was going back and forth whether I should mention this, but you really liked Dylan Saunders's (Jafar) vocal performance, so I have to: there's a musical called Starry, inspired by the life of Van Gogh, and Dylan Saunders sang Van Gogh for the concept album. Now, unfortunately, that's pretty much all that there is, alongside a few unstaged performances. There were some UK workshops and it was meant to play on West End last year, but it just... didn't happen. So, though it's probably not good reaction content, if you're ever looking for other music to listen to, Starry is a good one.

Eliška Svobodová

I second spies are forever!!! There’s definitely some dated content, but it’s so fun.

Ratatosk Clarke

I would happily be the Mortius to Mortius’ Casper for the journey to Hatchetfield. The LORE that there’d be to expound! Plus, it’d give me an excuse to actually go back to my own content and continue creating.

Daniel Wilson

10:30 HMMM WHAT WILL THEY DO, INDEED

Daniel Wilson

If branching into non family friendly content works for you, other than starkid musicals and Tin can brows might I recommend: Galavant It's a bit longer as it's a musical TV series but it can be broken into episodes and sprinkled in. If you don't I still recommend watching it on your own time.

Rylie Mohrdieck

Love everything Starkid! I hope you get into one of the Hatchetville ones. If I was gonna recommend a concept album though. 33mm is great but full disclosure it has a lot of songs that are hard to listen to if you go in unprepared.

Takeyia Twitty

Not Starkid but since you already have multiple comments recommending other Starkid musicals, I thought I'd branch out a little to another project that a lot of Starkid members were part of: I highly recommend checking out Spies are Forever by The Tin Can Bros. Like Starkid shows, the live performance is avaliable entirely for free on Youtube, and it hits the same points of both layered and hilarious humor aas well as an intriguing plot and characters

So glad to hear that Sands Of Time/Golden Rule and Golden Rule Reprise hooked you in, those really are both such sleeper hits that do not get the recognition they deserve for how much they slap. Can't wait for the next part, I think you're going to have some really interesting takes on the songs that are coming up. I'm impressed that you caught an Aladdin reference I never personally got! Fully forgot that Jafar has that golden rule line in the movie, probably because I grew up with the dub in my native language. That is absolutely why this whole story beat/those songs are a thing, I love that I know that now thanks to you!!

Cinnamoone

Can't wait for the next part

José Antonio Gómez Rodríguez

True true good points even if he doesn't do nightmare time i hope he does the HatchetTown Trilogy ^^

Icy The Dragon girl

For reference, both "seasons" of Nightmare Time (basically a series of campy horror musical short stories acted out over Zoom) came out between the releases of Black Friday and Nerdy Prudes Must Die, and were very much written with the assumption that the viewer would already have watched both The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals and Black Friday. I would personally recommend either leaving Nightmare Time for last, or going through them all just before finishing out the series with Nerdy Prudes. Or just watching them all on your own time, as they might not work as well with your format.

Cinnamoone

Highly recommend Starkid's Hatchetfield series as well as their others like Trail To Oregon!

crisistime

Ah, the Starkid tradition. Pull you in with the humor and the get you genuinely invested in the layered story and characters

XanEcho

I can't wait for the next part It will get you in a strangle hold

ColorQueen_ 64

If you are going to continue the starkid train you should check out the nightmare time series they have as well as their HatchetTown Trilogy (The guy who didn't like Musicals, Black Friday, and Nerdy Prudes must die). Nightmare time kind of connects to the HatchetTown Trilogy so I'd recommend watching that first for context/lore or some chatacters that appear through the trilogy.

Icy The Dragon girl

There is definitely depth to be found in this profoundly absurd musical, so don't be afraid of diving too deep. Although the focus is less on the political side of socioeconomic issues, and more on the question of idealism vs pragmatism, and the pitfalls of both.

Ashley Evers

Golden Rule makes this a musical. Thank you.

Dorothy Rosenberg

If you decide to do their hatchetfeild series, the order is "The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals", "Black Friday", and then "Nerdy Prudes Must Die".

Mellohi

Well, now I need more mortius reacting to this. But I think I need to know Caspers (who knows nothing of Disney and Pixar from all I've gathered) his take on all these jokes and parodies. I hope you introduce Casper to this... if he ever watches disney and pixar after this (90s and 00s mainly disney) we might break him his comprehension though 🤔 do we dare with casper?

PhoenyxFyre

Oh thank goodness I was worried you wouldn’t get so I’m !so happy up the “2D Department” so I’m so happy you got it! APersonally Holy Musical Batman is my favorite but Trail to Oregon is also very good.

Sunny

I adore Dylan so much. I loved him in the Vhs Christmas carol one too as Scrooge he’s FANTASTIC. Starkid is very goofy haha but it’s also often shockingly deep. There’s lots of layers AND crude jokes haha.

Broody Gaming

If you decide to react to any more Starkid (I highly recommend the Hatchetfield trilogy, they’re all original horror comedy musicals) you’ll find out that the writers love to hit you with great jokes and then immediately DESTROY you with emotional scenes and vice versa

Mafidon

I hope you and your wife enjoyed Stardew 1.6! The new festivals are so fun, the new spring one became my favorite when it was released on the pc

Mafidon

The audio seems to be a bit out of sync in this one. Dylan is one of the best vocalists in starkid. Golden Rule is such a good song, but the best songs are still to come. Excited for more!

Shay-Thelogicaldreamer

I was introduced to starkid way back in like… 2009? Not long after the first Very Potter Musical came out. Everything they do is hilarious lol.
