The Moon Rises | Unedited Reaction

I've never watched my little pony minus 1 movie that brought in unicorns or something

PhoenyxFyre

Also, the latin part in the middle is "In Umbra Luna Est" (The Moon is in Shadow)

Alex

Honestly the only full season of the show I'd watch is S1 since that sets up characters and basic worldbuilding. After that really most episodes are just filler. Typically the 1st 2 and last 2 episodes of each season (the ones that are 2 parters) are the most interesting episodes where actual villains turn up and the plot is more interesting. The story between these two sisters is pretty much covered in the very first 2 episodes and unfortunately is barely touched upon from there, the fan base just took what we were given and ran with it.

SirPasta

I agree with this! Except possibly suggesting all two-part episodes as wholes, with only the songs otherwise.

Helios Warden

Most of my little pony is basically filler. Not necessarily connecting all that much, just the characters having adventures and growing as people... ponies... anyway, you could just react to the songs and also react to the plot episodes. Like the first two, or the season 3 finale ect.

CalvinTheCat

For the sisters storyline you only need to watch the pilot episodes :) But you would probably like lots of the music throughout the show

Hi! That was an awesome video! If you want to experience My Little Pony without watching the entire series, I would recommend starting with the songs. They can help you understand the characters better. After that, consider watching the first part of Episode 1 from Season 1; it begins with a journal that explains the backstory between Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. However, feel free to do what works best for you!

Honestly, my knowledge of mlp is lacking, but this song randomly popped up on my spotify like a month ago and ive been listening to it nonstop. This and the wedding song is really good. But the main reason i commented was that i loved your doctor who reference and now i want you to cosplay ten. Okay, back to the cave that is my desk job.

Shay-Thelogicaldreamer

I’d say watch the first two episodes of the show (because there is important context) and then go for the songs. There arent songs every single episode but they are often enough.

Ratatosk Clarke

Most of the songs are really good fun I think it'd give you a pretty decent nutshell of the show! And maybe a few other fan-songs

Robert Beyda

I think you would have fun just listening to the songs. I actually feel like you'll get more out of the show through the music.

Kimberly Oblinger

(if you do go with the pilot though, just be aware that these songs, like many fandom-content pieces, dive and explore a bit deeper than the show necessarily provides, especially as the sisters' story was a commonly discussed and analyzed lore bit among the fans who wanted to speculate about emotional impacts, and created pieces like this—its not necessarily as indicative of the show, though definitely inspired by it.)

So, honestly, if the story of these sisters is the story you want, honestly, the first 2 episodes of the first season wrap this story up. Because these two AREN'T the main characters (the fandom just hooked onto the story that we got int hose episodes that then...was occasionally touched on maybe a handful of times through the rest of the story, but not foreshortened again for a ling, LONG time.) See, the show doesn't really have any kind of overarching story—a few seasons had villains or threats teased early, then dormant, to return at the finale, but overall, it's an episodic, character-focused slice-of-life story. So, you can just watch the songs, with maybe someone to give you context for the episode they're form (especially early on, songs were NOT a per-episode deal, though they did grow more frequent later on and there are a few episodes that are more song than dialogue. So, to your question, I would suggest one of two things: either just watching the pilot to get the resolution of this story line that has caught you so much, then either leaving it there or possibly going to the second, which would be for someone familiar with the show to curate a list of the songs worth analyzing (some are super-short and not really much of anything at all), and be ready to offer a synopsis/context, if desired. Because yeah, it's a lot of show and there's isn't a grand plot line, just watching the characters we grow to love grow, develop, change and occasionally, fight a giant monster with the power of friendship.

Ashley N Miyares

Maybe the first two and last two episodes of each season + a few of the most popular/musical episodes (by musical I mean that episode is pretty much ALL song, alot of episodes have one or two but musical episodes are pretty much purely song). That could be a good way to do it?

AceOfTheDeck

I think something you could do is react to just a couple of the best/most popular songs/episodes from each season!

GreyScale

The show is incredible, however a lot of the episodes are filler and unimportant for the overall plot, especially I feel in the earlier seasons. Also, just a heads up, while I think all of the songs are very fun, I have to be honest and say these fan songs go so much harder than most of the songs from the show, with very obvious exceptions to big MLP fans ( y'all know which songs). I think the context in each episode that leads up to or follows the song is helpful to understand the song fully, so maybe reacting to certain episodes and watching filler on your own time would be best? It's hard to say.

Makayla

tbh nightmare moon is only really mainly relevant for the first 2 episodes; “overarching plot of season 1” is generous /lh

Lizzie Akehurst

As a mlp YouTuber myself I think that it would be cool to do like season opening and finale and do like the songs of the season in the middle and you can watch the full middle episodes on your own to get context that’s just my thought love your stuff tho

Nicole

Something you can react to his the movie in 3d its like have really good villain song

blue firgreen

On YouTube, there's a 2020 full timeline of MLP G5 (which is Friendship is Magic, which this and Lullaby For a Princess are fan songs for) that's 55 minutes and 18 seconds long by daspacepony. You could react to that, then maybe all the songs from the show, and then watch the actual show entirely off screen. You don't owe us your reaction to the show itself, and I think a full timeline or a retrospective of the show are a good compromise if you want to give us your first impressions to the show but can't watch the entire thing in reaction form.

Ara the Scribe

I've given it some thought and, as someone who actually GREW UP with this specific generation of My Little Pony, have come to the conclusion that the most interesting way you could go about this is by analyzing the progression of the series' music season by season as the show grows and changes. It was something I noticed and appreciated especially as I grew up and continued watching the show till the end and getting to hear and see someone else's experience through that lense I think would be refreshing compared to the poll people to see the cream of the crop type of approach that most people do. Also no one ever seems to cover the chaotic mess that is half of Pinkie Pie's many mini songs that are all over season 1 and while I very much understand why it low-key makes me a bit sad 😅🤣

KittyKatGurl 888

I think song to song would be good! Maybe read a sorta. . . Synopsis of the episodes? I KNOW I'll recommend the song This Day Aria. Because that song HITS hard and is still on my musical playlist. AAAAAND maybe a reaction to just the film Equestria Girls Rainbow Rocks since the sirens were all about music and it was a sorta full musical film.

River

Okay. So that character at the end that Luna turns into is Nightmare Moon. And her story is the overarching plot of season 1. So if you want to experience just this part of the story, you could just watch the first season instead of the entire show which might work a little more with your schedule.

Shelby

Honestly, I feel like you should watch the first season to get an accurate idea of the characters and world etc. but then watching the main episodes and skipping filler or even just going through the songs in order would be great. Because then you already know who’s who and what the basic premise is.

BestBex

As a long time mlp fan honestly if you go through the songs from the show then you will still be confused lol. A lot of the songs (at least that I can recall) dont follow an overarching plot (minus like season premieres and season finales) a lot of the songs are just fun and goofy things to jam to. Honestly going by what people recommend as like their “best” or “favorite” and going down the list would probably make for a wonderful experience! Love your content and keep being amazing!

Shay Weiss

You can definitely just watch the songs, but you would probably be a bit confused. Maybe if you have a volunteer to help, they can give you songs to react to with a little blurb of story details so you understand. :)

Thistle

Yooooo saaaame!!! Lullaby for a Princess was already a surprise but this just makes my month! And that's barely begun 🤣😭
