I think I mentioned it in the last comments, but having Sokka in the Spirit World was actually correct for the Heibai story. He *DID* get taken, along with the other members of the town, and came back with them when the episode was over. Ozai, Zuko and Iroh killed this episode in their own ways. One of my faves :)

About Wan Shit tong; in Avatar LORE, he isACTUALLY capable of reciding in BOTH the spirit world and in the natural wold. So he was implying that Katara and Sokka couldnt hear them only because they were human beings who were inside the SPIRIT WORLD. Which is unnatural. Makes sense. I'm sure it was just a cameo guys. Like I genuonely think they will bring him back in season 2 for the Library. So that's why Sokka and Katara can hear them in the REAL WORLD. He was probably just on vacation. I think that's why it's good not to have assumptions about season 2. Dont worry he will be there in the next season lol a cast member even mentioned it🔥

That's a good point, it doesn't make him a bad father. It's just somewhat off-putting that he is disappointed in him, given what we know of Hakoda's character from the show. Even though Sokka isn't a bender and might not be the most skilled warrior, he still possesses warrior-like skills and is a genius strategist. But I think you're correct. They're adding more nuances to the characters and trying to highlight the parents' high expectations for their children. Like you said, he probably will be proud of Sokka in the end. However, I do miss seeing Sokka as the useful strategy maker, and he does eventually learn swordsmanship. But let's see how they portray his character in the upcoming seasons..if they continue the show 👀

I don’t really like the change to Hakoda either, but to be fair, I think he was still trying to be a good dad and was showing unconditional love for Sokka in that, if Sokka hadn’t overheard the conversation between Hakoda and Bato, he wouldn’t have known that his dad was disappointed. Like Hakoda can’t help what he’s feeling, but he tried his best not to let those negative feelings affect Sokka. My guess is that, if this show gets all three seasons, they’re going to do an acceptance story where Hakoda learns to accept Sokka’s skills as an engineer, based on what we learned last episode and in episode 3.
