The Matrix (1999) | Reaction & Review (UNCUT)

THIS WAS SO TRIPPY!!!

We finally get the hype of The Matrix! Also... the 1999 drip/outfits of all the characters in the movie goes CRAZY 😂🔥🔥

Should we watch the rest of the Matrix movies?! 🤔

Oh yes. Haven't seen anyone do Sense8 in a while.

I think you’d enjoy the wachowski’s sense8 more than matrix 2 or particularly 3. The fourth one was pretty good though , and being a standalone story with callbacks (in my view), you could even watch it directly after this, wholly skipping 3 or 2&3.

Hi there silver ;) Glad to hear your thoughts on this one too! It was a staple of my childhood and I might be considered one of those crazed fans during the time period this came out! I was even inspired to learn what I could about simulation theory after watching this movie the first time. I totally agree that the sequels are skippable too, but would you consider the Animatrix worth a watch? Its been forever since I watched it too, so I might be incredibly biased suggesting it. Im aware that the cgi in the 3d shorts are outdated, but I think the short stories are a fun time.

I'm right there with you Dee, reading a synopsis is perfectly normal. It's just not that ideal when you're running a reaction channel, where the whole point is you going blind into the movie...😅😂 And no, this isn't like "Inception", "Inception" is like "The Matrix"...😉😁 ... Everything after '99 is like "The Matrix". You can't imagine the hype surrounding this movie when it came out. It blew everyone away. "The Matrix" became the blueprint for every action-scifi-dystopian movie that came after. Key Lines became memes that everybody knows, even if they never heard of the movie. The soundtrack could be heard everywhere. What do you mean the effects would be better now? No. They would maybe look a little smoother, but otherwise the effects are still holding up even almost thirty years later...🤔🤩 "The Matrix" is one of the milestones that redefined the way movies are made. The others (that I witnessed) were "Terminator 2" (#liquidmetal and excellent stunt work), "Jurassic Park" (First convincing CGI in a blockbuster movie), "The Lord of the Rings" -(First Trilogy filmed in one piece and a monumental one at that) and the last one probably "Avatar" (Pandora not Airbender). They all added something new to film making or the reception of movies. I don't think this movie took direct inspiration from Dune. It is a typical hero's journey like countless other stories in the histroy of mankind, from Homers Odyssey to Star Wars or LOTR...🙂 By the way, when I saw LOTR in cinemas shortly after watching this, I was so shocked to see Hugo Weaving as Elrond. When ever he was on screen I saw Agent Smith and it totally threw me out of the plot, I kept thinking how ridiculous Agent Smith looked with long braided hair, I simply couldn't take him serious...😂🙈 I would say skip the sequels. While not bad movies per se, they never once reach the same level as the first one and are okay-ish at best. They look smoother, but the story can't hold up. It feels like milking the cash cow. But that is only my opinion, I know that the fans of "The Matrix" are pretty much divided 50/50 if the sequels are good or ruin the story...🤔😅 For me this movie is a 10/10...🤩

we should host a group watch ;)

Holy shit yesssss. Im honestly chomping at the bit to watch along to this later, I havent seen this movie in years though it was one of my favs for a while. The Wachowskis intended for this film to be part of a trilogy, though how successful the finished series actually landed with audiences is something still put up for debate. There is a series of animated shorts made into a collection called, "The Animatrix" that explores different stories within the Matrix that I think would make for a very fun watch. As for watching the sequels (Reloaded and Revolutions), I think they're still exciting action movies and fun conceptually, but can be a little too abstract when it comes to rounding out the overarching story. Resurrections (2021) was....simply not it.

Yessss! I know what I’m watching after work!
