RWBY: LIFE AND DEATH - CHAPTER 13
Added 2021-08-20 08:02:24 +0000 UTCWe continued to walk across the emerald forest, finding no Grimms in our way. Every now and then, we would hear gunshots, and explosions, showing not everyone was having our luck, though it was questionable if this was good or bad luck, I really wanted to punch a Grimm.
“It seems everyone is already fighting,” Pyrrha said.
“It seems like it,” I nodded, some fights were close to us, a few hundred meters in fact, while others sounded miles away, god I love my senses.
“Do you think we will encounter a Grimm before we reach our destination?” Pyrrha inquired.
Chances say yes, but considering my luck sometimes, this might just be a walk to the temple, and a walk back, “Maybe, if we don’t I think it’s best if we force a fight, otherwise, what will the teachers have to evaluate? The way we walk?”
“Hahaha,” Pyrrha laughed, “I suppose you’re right,”
“In fights I more than not, I take the front lines, one could say I am quite resilient,” I informed her, better to get to know each other’s weaknesses and strengths before we had to fight together.
“I am a well-rounded fighter,” Pyrrha replied with a shy smile, “Or at least I think I am,”
“Me too, but my strong fort is close combat,” I chuckled.
“Oh well, in that case, mine too, but I also dabble in mid-range combat, if I had to say my weakest area is long-range combat, but you have a long-range rifle, so we should be okay,” Pyrrha smiled.
“That precisely is the reason I got a long-range rifle,” I nodded. “For those who get out of my range,”
“Then we are pretty much unstoppable!” Pyrrha chuckled.
“Maybe we are,” I replied.
We continued to talk about our strengths and weaknesses all in the hopes of making a good team dynamic for a long while until our journey came to a stop and the mouth of a creepy-looking cave, inside the cave, drawings of men fighting against giant beasts could be seen, decorating the entire cave in a caveman show of art.
“I don’t think this is the place we are supposed to go,” Pyrrha noted.
“Yeah, but… this looks like a place for a Grimm to hide, and we really need that mark on our test,” I replied.
“True,” Pyrrha nodded, “So what Grimm do you think we will find?”
“Chances say we will encounter a Beowolf, you know… them being the most common and all, but who knows, maybe a Beringel, or a Death Stalker,” I replied.
“Hm, I sure hope is not a Beringel, I have heard they are quite resilient,” Pyrrha sighed.
As we continue to go deeper and deeper into the cave, a new scent came into the scene, one I was very familiar with, the smell of death, the smell of Grimm, “There is a Grimm nearby,”
Pyrrha nodded, readying her weapon, “Then let’s go,”
With a smile, I nodded, as so we continued onward through the cave until we found where the smell originated, “There it is, our target,” I pointed to the golden stinger of the death stalker, that illuminated the cave ever so lightly, how could Jaune didn’t see it was a stinger, I mean… it looks like one, it was massive at that.
“A Death Stalker,” Pyrrha smiled, “It seems you were right,”
“Now… let’s get this baby out of the cave, in case our fight destroys the fragile structure of this place” I chuckled.
“Smart,” Pyrrha nodded.

[Ozpin POV]
At the edge of a cliff, I looked my scroll, seeing how everyone was doing, and so far everyone was okay, except for Jaune, who broke several of his bones and punctured many of his organs during the initiation fall.
“I knew his transcripts looked too good to be true. Now, look at him?! In a medically induced coma to improve his chances of survival,” Glynda sighed, “We really need to get better personal to inspect the transcripts…”
“I suppose we do,” I nodded, “All mister Arc wanted was to be a hero, but he failed to see the dangers such title brings, and now he is paying for his lack of awareness,”
“I have no idea how he survived,” Glynda sighed.
“Sometimes all the body needs to survive, is the will to do it,” I replied, turning back to see how were the students doing.

[Pyrrha Nikos POV]
Taking the Death Stalker out of the cave was easy, all we had to do was shoot at the beast a few times to wake it up and then run from whence we came. Once outside, we started to battle the beast. Umber was… impressive, the way he danced around the beast, clashing his weapon against it, it was truly a sight to behold, however, what impressed me the most was his aura, it was massive and very dense. “This thing seems to be immune to my halberd,” Umber commented, dodging a few strikes from the beast.
“I also seem to be unable to cut it,” I replied, shooting the monster a few times with Milo.
Umber smiled, “I think I have an idea,”
“What?” I asked, dodging the stinger of the beast a few inches before it hit me.
“Its cephalothorax seems to be quite resistant as I barely can scratch him even at full strength, but this defense only extends to certain parts of his body,” Umber answered with a smile on his face, as he dodged the relentless attempts of the beast to hit him, “His legs and belly seem to be naked and without any protecting, waiting to be cut, his tail too, but on a minor degree,” the way he continued to dodge, so nonchalantly, it was almost as if he didn’t consider this foe dangerous at all.
“If we don’t kill it, he will simple regenerate!” I replied.
“That is why, we need to immobilize it,” Umber chuckled, switching his gun from its halberd to its rifle form. “Once the beast can’t move, we get the stinger and use it to kill him,”
Of course, the stinger was somehow even more resistant than his armor, meaning it could be used to kill the beast, brilliant, “On it!” I declared, running behind the beast.
“Good, I will keep its attention on me,” Umber grinned, charging at the beast.
Following his plan, I slid under the beast and cut three of its legs with a swift motion of my sword and shield, in response to this the beast tumbled to the ground with a growl as Umber jumped over the beast with a wild grin on his face, swinging his halberd in a circular motion, cutting its stinger. The stinger fell on the beast’s head, piercing its armor a little bit, as well as getting stuck on it, with a smile I rushed to the stinger as Umber used the beast back to jump, in the air to hit the stinger, both in the air, we shared a simple glance before we brought all our might against the stinger lodged in the beast’s back, killing the beast once and for all in a single striker.
“That was awesome!” I chuckled.
“Indeed,” Umber smiled.
