RWBY: LIFE AND DEATH - CHAPTER 14

Killing the Death Stalker was remarkably easy, the only problem was its ridiculous defense that protected its core, but more than not, these Grimms always had a weakness, sometimes even bringing with them the perfect way to eliminate them. After that, we continue our journey towards our destination, seeing a Nevermore pass by, with two girls above its back.

“I told you this was a terrible idea!” One of the girls shouted.

“I think that was Weiss,” I chuckled.

“How… why would they… let’s just go and help them,” Pyrrha sighed.

“Fine by me,” The Nevermore was going towards our destination anyways.

And so we ran, following the Nevermore through the dense emerald forest as best as we could, the more we ran, the clearer the scents of Yang and blake came into the scene, meaning we were close to our destination, and as this happened, the tiny cookie monster had the grand idea to jump off the beast, falling to the ground at high speed, only to be caught by her sister who jumped into the air to catch her.

“That’s Yang,” Pyrrha said.

“Let’s go,” I nodded, sensing a new smell entering my range of detection, this particular scent was unique, and it belonged to Nora, she smelled like pancakes and a hit of madness. Though right now, she didn’t completely smell like this, instead, her unique scent was being masked by the distinctive fragrance only Grimms have, the aroma of death.

“Yeeeeeha!” Oh, right… I remember now, she mounted an Ursai like a pony during this part of the exam.

“Nora! Get down there!” Ren shouted.

“Never!” Nora shouted back, running past us with her unique mount, “Hi!” she waved at us, laughing like a madwoman… laughing like a Nora.

“Ha, she seems funny,” Pyrrha chuckled.

“It’s not funny when you are the one that has to chase her!” Ren shouted as he reached us.

“Meh, it could be worse, like mounting a Nevermore,” I laughed.

“Please don’t let Nora hear that,” Ren sighed.

“Pretty sure Ruby or Weiss will be the ones to tell her,” Pyrrha chuckled.

Fortunately for Ren, our run through the forest came to an end, as we finally arrived where the rest of the gang were, in the ground, the Ursai was already dead, and on the air, Weiss was still clinging to the Nevermore like a cat on a good pair of pants, wait… was that a self burn? Questions for later.

“Nora, please don’t do that ever again,” Ren muttered, gasping for air.

“I won’t make any promises~” Nora grinned.

“How high is your health insurance?” I chuckled.

“Very high! I am considered a high-risk client!” Nora replied, humming at the thought, “No idea why though,”

“I have a few,” Ren sighed.

“Somebody catch me!” Weiss shouted, finally decided to drop by, no pun intended.

“She’s falling,” Blake commented, watching the Schnee fall to her doom.

“Very perceptive of you Blake,” I chuckled, jumping into the air to catch the spoiled princess.

“Thanks,” Weiss muttered, as I put her into the ground.

“Great! I guess we can now all die together!” Yang declared.

“She’s booming me out,” I told Pyrrha.

“I… maybe a bit,” Pyrrha chuckled nervously.

“I can’t believe you left me!” Weiss hissed at Ruby.

Ruby gasped, “I told you to jump!”

“To my death?!” Weiss shot back.

“Am I dead?!” Ruby replied, “Yang caught me, and Blake would’ve caught you too!”

“....Maybe,” Blake replied, her eyes narrowed into a thin line, “...Not sure…”

“See she would’ve ca-- say what now?” Ruby turned to face Blake.

“Nothing,” Blake replied, as I wheezed my lungs put in laughter.

“I… let’s forget this,” Weiss sighed, “Umber caught me, and now we have bigger problems,”

“What a Weiss decision,” I smiled, looking around to see if anyone got my joke, and only three did Nora, Pyrrha, and Yang.

“Ha!” Nora laughed, “Weiss choice! Get it, Ren?!”

“Hahaha, very funny,” Pyrrha chuckled.

“Oh no… I already have enough with dad and Yang,” Ruby utter in fear.

“Hahahaha!” Yang snorted, “Oh god, I needed a good laugh,” she added.

“I… I won’t even comment on that,” Weiss sighed.

“Weiss choice,” I laughed.

“HAHAHAHAHA!” Nora at this point was crying, “I knew it! I always knew my death was to be at the hands of a good pun! And here I am! Ready to die!”

Yang, on the other hand, was laughing so hard no sound was coming out of her. While Ruby had assumed a fetal position on the ground, repeating over and over again this was not real.

“Guys, the Nevermore is coming towards us!” Pyrrha announced cutting the laugh short.

“Ok, let’s do this,” I sighed, cleaning the tears off my face.

“YEAH!” Nora shouted, readying her hammer, “Nora wants some blood!”

“Nora… Grimms don’t have blood,” Ren said.

“I said Nora wants some blood, and she will get it!” Nora shot back.

“But first!” I smiled, walking towards the relics, and grabbing the two rooks, one for me and one for Nora and ren, as it was one per duo, “In case this place gets destroyed,”

“Hm, smart,” Ren nodded.

“Now, let’s do it!” I shouted, rallying them up.

“THIS. IS. VALE!!!” Ruby shouted, shooting at the Nevermore with her rifle.

[Ozpin POV]

It seems everyone had acquired the relics, now it was all a matter of seeing how they would deal with the Giant Nevermore, a beast many hunters have difficulty dealing with. Tough, strong, and very hard to reach, the Giant Nevermore was built to last in combat, but… with a bit of teamwork, and ingenuity, even the greatest beasts in the world were sitting ducks, waiting to be defeated.

“Umber and Pyrrha seem to be the most prepare ones in the group,” Glynda said, taking a sip of her coffee, “About Umber, what do we know about this kid?”

Not much, all I knew is someone had pulled a bunch of favors to get the kid in here, alongside Blake, “Not much, only that he was looking for a fresh start, and Beacon was the best place to find it,” I replied, admiring the fight these younglings were giving.
