RWBY: LIFE AND DEATH - CHAPTER 12

After a long and uncomfortable interaction between Jaune, Pyrrha, and Weiss, all of the students were summoned by Glynda to the Beacon Cliff for initiation, again, no map, the good part was, this time there were some many students around all we had to do was follow them.

Unfortunately, even with all of the students, it took us like ten minutes to find the Beacon cliff, but eventually, we did, once we entered the area, we were instructed to stand above the silver tiles that were on the cliff, one for each student. “Good luck,” I told Pyrrha as she got in her tile.

“Same,” Pyrrha smiled, giving me the thumbs up.

Once every student was in place, and every single silver tile was occupied, Ozpin grabbed a mic, and with a smile started to talk, “For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest.” Oh, I remember this episode, fun, haven’t killed a Grimm in a while.

Glynda who also had a mic, continued, “Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of "teams." Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today.” random teammates, hehe, I can’t wait to hear Weiss’s reaction to this.

“What!?” the tiny tiny tiny girl called Ruby shouted.

Ozpin smiled at Ruby’s reaction, as he continued, “These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well.”

“Double what?!” the tiny life form known as Ruby shouted once again.

Ozpin chuckled, he was having a great time wasn’t he, can’t blame the guy, I was too, “That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years.”

“WHAT!?” Now, this was Weiss, Ruby was having… she was… still processing.

“Ha!” I laughed.

“WHAT?!!!” The tiny ameba that loves cookies known as Ruby exclaimed, finally processing the information.

“Ha!” Nora laughed, wait, when the fuck did Nora get beside me, “So… why are we laughing?” I knew she was Nora, by her looks and crazy eyes.

“About anything?” I shrugged.

“Fun!” Nora smiled, “I like this guy Ren! Can we keep him!”

Ren who was a few tiles away sighed, “Nora, we can keep people… they are not dogs,”

“I will not be bound by society’s rules!” Nora declared, mental note, be sure not to be alone with her.

“Then you will be bound by jail,” Ren sighed.

“Only if they catch me!” Nora laughed.

Ozpin sighed, “After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die.” works for me. “You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?”

Hmm, not really, the exam was simple enough, kill Grimms, get a piece of chess, and get graded.

“I have one,” Jaune said, raising his hand, at times I wondered why was he here, from what I could tell, he had no aura, the poor idiot was going to die or get someone killed.

Completely ignoring Jaune, Ozpin smiled, and with a move of his hand said, “Good! Now, take your positions,”

Well, time to kill some Grimms, with a smile, I crouched down waiting for the tile to rocket me into the air, all while Jaune continued to try and ask his question, “See you in the forest Pyrrha,”

“See you there!” Pyrrha smiled, and as if on cue, my tile rose up from the ground into a springboard, finally rocketing me out of there.

The landing was remarkably easy, though I had to cut a tree in two that was on my way, now all I had to do was wait for Pyrrha, focusing on the hill, all my senses on alert, except for my sight as to avoid the rule, the first one you see will be your partner, I focused on the hills, detailing each and every single scent, one, two, three students and nothing, and then the scent I was waiting for arrived, Pyrrha, with a smile, I sprinted towards where Pyrrha was going to land using my nose as a guide, running through the forest as fast as I could.

It didn’t take me long to arrive where she had landed, and after that, it was all a matter of following her smell, “Hello,” I waved.

“Wow, that was fast,” Pyrrha chuckled.

“I have a good sense of smell,” I did, better than any Faunus I had ever meet.

“I guess that makes us a team! Hurray!” Pyrrha grinned, “Now let’s go forward, and claim our victory!”

Good, I was glad, I already liked Pyrrha, she was friendly, thoughtful, and all and all my only friend here, so being in a team with her, was already good enough for me, though I really hoped we didn’t get Jaune on our team, I had nothing against the guy, but having to constantly defend someone because he can’t hold his own weight, defeats the whole purpose of having a team to cover you back, turning said team, into a babysitting trio for the sitting duck.

“If that victory comes with a platter of steak or sushi… I will gladly claim it,” I smiled, dreaming about my victory meal already.

“I knew the cereal wasn’t enough!” Pyrrha chuckled.

“Hey, in all honesty, nothing is ever enough when it comes to food,” I grinned, what can I say, most of my White Fang salary was spent on food, not that I had to worry about that, Ghira promised to cover all of my expenses, hehehe hahaha, HAHAHAHA! MUAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Far far away, Ghira felt something, a shiver running down his back, “I… I feel something… like my wallet is bleeding, and I don’t know why…” he soon would discover, the reason behind his unknown ailment, soon he would.
