RWBY: LIFE AND DEATH - CHAPTER 15

The Nevermore continued approaching, throwing flurry after flurry of feathers at us before it crashed against the platform destroying were once the “relics” stood, and a few columns that were nearby. All the while, we had been shooting at the beast, who apparently was pretty much immune to our ammunition.

“This isn’t working!” Weiss shouted, dodging a few feathers.

“I could probably cut its head down if someone can get me above him,” There was no way I could make such a jump without assistance.

“Oh! I have an idea! Thanks, Umber!” Ruby smiled, “Cover me!” she shouted as she blasted away, into god knows where.

“Well, you heard her,” I chuckled, I guess this kill was her, one way or another. “Let’s keep this baby occupied!” I grinned, switching the form of my weapon from assault rifle to high impact rifle.

“What’s the plan!? Is it too much to ask to be kept on the loop!?” Weiss cried out, exasperated at Ruby’s hyperactive personality.

“With Ruby?” Yang snorted, “That’s a lot,”

Chuckling at her comment, I continued to shoot dust-based bullets at the monster, one after the other, noticing fire-based dust bullets were more efficient than the others. However, this seemed to infuriate the beast even more, for now, it was turning its flight path towards me.

“Well, that can’t be good,” I hummed, shooting at the beast even more, pissing it off even more.

“Weiss, why are you still there!?” Ruby shouted, “You are needed in my plan!”

“What.. how… YOU NEVER TOLD ME!” Weiss shouted as she ran to where Ruby was.

“Ruby… the big nugget is quite close, hurry up!” I shouted, switching my weapon to its halberd form, preparing for a close combat encounter, which by the looks of it was going to happen soon.

“Wait for it!” Ruby shouted, waiting for the Nevermore to pass her location.

“Only you would think of such a plan,” Weiss sighed, creating a few semblance circles behind Ruby.

“Eat this!” Yang roared, her eyes flaring red, as she shot a few barrages at the beast, with Nora, Blake, and Ren helping her, doing the same.

All the while, Ruby was put in place, waiting for the right moment to strike, and then, it came, “Now!” Just as the Nevermore was passing by Ruby’s location, Ruby shouted, pumping Crescent Rose ready, as Weiss turned her circles from black to red releasing Ruby at such a blinding speed that the ground behind her launch cracked, leaving a small crater, behind her rose petals were left. And with each new shot of her weapon, the distance between her and the Nevermore drew closer and closer. All the while, Weiss continued to create circles behind Ruby, increasing her speed, more and more, to the point all I could see was a red blur coming towards the Nevermore.

It was here when I realized her plan was going to fail horribly, without anyone restraining the beast making an opposite force to her impact, her attack would be considerably less efficient than it was on the show, so I had to help, creating an opposite force to her impact, turning around, I looked at Pyrrha who seemed to have noticed this as well, and with a simple nod, she understood what we had to do.

Kneeling down, Pyrrha put Akouo about her head, giving a stable platform to jump in. Leaping into her shield, I blasted my weapon on it, as Pyrrha jumped at the same time to give me the maximum speed we could muster right now, and just as Ruby was about to crash in against the Nevermore, I swung my Halberd using all the Aura I could muster to create an opposite force, increasing her damage, subsequently securing the decapitation of the beast.

Unfortunately for me, the tiny being known as Ruby crashed against me after decapitating the nevermore like a cannon ball, blasting me into the ground with enormous force, fortunately for me, I had big aura reserves, and she could hardly be considered a weapon.

“Sorry!” Ruby apologized.

“I’m okay,” I chuckled, grabbing Ruby with one hand as I stood up.

“I feel so tiny!” Ruby chuckled, as I put her on the ground.

“Well… I’m big,” I chuckled.

“What kind of milk do you drink? Is it…” At this, she got closer, “Illegal milk?” What… “I will pay good money or cookies for that milk…” at this I lost it, and started laughing, she was too adorable at times, I guess it comes with being so tiny.

After that entire ordeal, we went back to the auditorium to continue with our initiation. Standing at the podium, Ozpin smiled, congratulating everyone, before he started to give the teams out, “Russel Thrush. Cardin Winchester. Dove Bronzewing. Sky Lark.” at this, the screen of the auditorium showed each of their profiles as the boys walked to the stages, for the applauding audience to see as Ozpin continued, “The four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team CRDL, led by... Cardin Winchester!”

Cardin smiled, a cocky smile, god I want to punch the guy, “Why do I want to punch the guy…” I muttered, not remembering from the series, yet I felt the need to punch him… weird.

Ozpin smiled, “Umber Khan. Lie Ren. Pyrrha Nikos. Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team UNPR.” Wait, I got Nora?!

“Yes you did,” Nora laughed maniacally as we walked to the stage. The audience giving us a wave of ovation, as we took our places in front of the headmaster our faces filling the auditorium screen.

Ozpin chuckled, “Led by… Umber Khan,” I paid no heed to this, I was still trying to figure out if Nora was able to read minds.

“Of course I can’t, silly Umber,” Nora snorted….

“Congratulations young man.” Ozpin chuckled.

At this, we walked out of the stage, with me thinking a bunch of obscenities to see if Nora reacted or something, and she didn’t good god, “Oh god, for a moment there I thought you could,”

“Could what?” Nora tilted her head to the side.

“Nothing,” I shook my head with a sigh.

Ozpin smiled, continuing with the team selection, “And finally. Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao Long,” as he says their names, they get into the stage, one by one standing in front of him, “The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by... Ruby Rose!”
