RWBY: LIFE AND DEATH - CHAPTER 18

[1 month later]

After my little duel with team CRDL, and their crushing defeat at my hands, my problems with them stopped, maybe it was out of fear, or respect, or something else, I really didn’t care what was the reason behind it only that they stopped bothering me, making my school life remarkably more tolerable. As for the classes themselves, I had to say they were nothing extraordinary, in all honesty I didn't see what was so special about beacon.

Killing Grimms was a rather simplistic task, but I was not one to judge a place so early, besides, I had my reasons to stay, like keeping an eye on Blake like Ghira asked me. I owed that man a lot, he…. Without him chances are I would not be here, beyond that, I have other reasons, personal ones.

“Aren’t you excited!” Nora bubbled as she ran around the run in circles inside our dorm.

“About what?” I inquired, as I folded my clothes, with Nora these things never had an easy answer, she simply got excited by everything, so the answer could be anything.

“We have a field trip tomorrow silly!” Nora replied, tackling Ren into a hug, “I am so excited!”

“Nora, my ribs can’t handle this excitement,” Ren sighed, his ribs cracking under her bear hug.

“Nah, don’t worry, they can resist up to thirty percent more strength,” Nora chuckled. “I have tested them!”

“How would--” Before I could ask, Ren looked at me and said.

“You don’t wanna know,” Taking his word, I nodded, and continued folding my clothes.

“Well, I for one am also excited!” Pyrrha commented, “Our first field trip together, maybe I should take a camera?” she hummed.

“I don’t see why not,” I chuckled, “Miss Glynda didn’t say anything about not taking cameras, so it should be okay,”

“Ohhh, group photo!” Nora nodded filled with excitement, as Pyrrha grinned.

“Well, let’s go to sleep,” I said looking at the time. “We have to wake up early, so let’s go.”

“Yes sir!” Nora giggled, jumping to her bed.

“Good night,” Ren added, walking to his bed with a tea cup in his hand.

“Night!” Pyrrha added, and so, we all went to sleep.

[Cardin Winchester POV]

That filthy faunus had the audacity to humiliate me, he thinks he’s better than me, he thinks he’s stronger than me, when we all know he most likely cheated, I still had no idea how, but a filthy faunus, being stronger than me?! That is not! Possible! So he had to cheat. So, I was going to have my revenge. For weeks, I did nothing, watching him from afar, planning, but now… my time to show him what happens when you mess with me has arrived, the field trip to the Forest of the Forever Fall.

The location was perfect, and so was my plan. When hot stuff Glynda told the school about the trip, I knew what I had to do, so with my teammates I gathered a bunch of Rapier Wasps, my sole objective, making him suffer for what he did.

“He’s gonna regret messing with us,” Sky laughed.

“He sure will,” I grinned, looking at the box full of wasps, waiting to sting someone to the hospital.

[Umber Khan POV]

Next morning we woke up early to Ren making breakfast, pancakes. After that we got ready and went to the classroom we had been told to go to wait for Professor Glynda. She arrived a few minutes after us, and then we started the field trip. The walk from the school to the forest was relatively short and uneventful, but we had fun. Pyrrha was taking pictures of everything, with Nora as her assistant, while Ren and I shared a good moment of silence.

“Thank you for this moment of peace,” Ren smiled.

“You are ruining it,” I replied with a grin, making Ren chuckle.

Finally where we were supposed to be, we were given a few empty jars, “Students, while taking pictures is allowed, please have in mind we have a mission to complete,” Glynda reminded everyone, for the tenth time, we already knew professor Peach had asked her to arrange a field trip to collect some special red sap.

“I apologize professor, it’s just… this place is beautiful,” Pyrrha smiled, putting her camera away.

Glynda smiled really briefly, before she said, “Yes, the forest of Forever Fall is indeed beautiful. But we are not here to sight-see, at least not completely. Professor Peach has asked all of you to collect samples from the trees deep inside this forest, and I'm here to make sure none of you die while doing so, now please take the jars I have distributed amongst you guys, and fill them with the sap,”

“Yes ma’am.” I nodded.

Collecting the sap was surprisingly easy, and in less than an hour I had my jar full, “How are you guys doing?” I asked my team.

“I’m done,” Pyrrha smiled, showing me her jar.

“I was done, but Nora happened,” Ren sighed, pointing at Nora.

“I REGRET NOTHING!” Nora declared, eating another full jar of sweet red sap.

As I chuckled at her Nora-like antics, the scent of Cardin and his teammates got stronger and stronger as they approached us from the north, and as they did this, the smell of something else approached our way too, something alive they were carrying, a familiar smell I had smelled this on the way here, but I just assumed it was something else, so I paid nothing attention to it.

But now, I can only assume two things, one. They plan to prank everyone with bees or something, two… they plan to get some type of childish revenge on me, either way, I was completely uninterested.

Finally a few meters behind us, I confirmed a few of my suspicions, one they were targeting me, because the rest of the class was far away, and two, they were using wasps, not sure what kind, but by the sound of the flutter of their little wings, it was wasps, bees don’t make such angry sounds, “Let’s show this filthy animal whose the boss,” case in point.

“I wouldn’t do it if I was you Cardin,” I said, loud enough for him and my team to hear. “Those wasps won’t hurt me, but I WILL hurt you,”

Pyrrha turned around, and with a face full of mischief, pulled out her camera, and started recording.

“We’ll see!” Cardin shouted, his heart beating faster, nervous at the fact he had been discovered, in a fit of blind stupidity, he took a step throwing a jar full of sap at me.

“Why are bullies so predictable,” I sighed, grabbing the jar before it hit me.

“Because of their limited brain capacity,” Ren replied. “I read a study about it, that or family issues, sometimes both,”

“Throw the wasp box at them!” Cardin shouted at his lackies, which immediately obeyed throwing the box full of wasps at us, unfortunately for him, the box opened mid air a few meters away from them, and the really pissed off wasps turned around, and proceeded to have their waspy revenge at their captors.

“Should we help them?” Ren inquired.

“Nah, let’s tell Professor Glynda, she will deal with them,” I replied.

“Works for me,” Nora smiled. “Karma baby!”

“I really dislike those guys,” Pyrrha sighed. “Will give this video to professor Glynda,”

“Let’s go,” I chuckled, who would’ve thought the camera would come in handy.

“I still need a jar, and Nora keeps eating mine,” Ren replied.

“I REGRET NOTHING!”

“No you don’t,” I grinned, handing him the jar Cardin had thrown at me.

“Neat,” Ren smiled.

And so we walked back to the group, hearing the screams of team CRDL so gracefully provided, filling the forest in an ironic tone of karma, and consequences, and a hint of stupidity.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHH!” The screams intensified.

“Did… that scream sound more like… oh no, I’m gonna die… more than… oh no the wasps I brought are stinging me?” I asked my team, as the screams of team CRDL grew stronger and stronger with each passing second.

“Yes,” Nora nodded.

Sighing, I turned back, “I’ll be back,” I sighed, getting my weapon into high impact rifle form.
