Notes FOR Shannan: 1. Hmmmm.. I was wondering where I'd seen this Commander dude who greeted SG-1 at the gate before ....Turns out he was The Apprentice on Once Upon A Time for 10 episodes ....A.K.A. The old dude with the magic pen (I think) 2. So Sam and Teal'c are informing O'neill that they can't search for Daniel using a UAV .....Me: "If only you had a ship and Daniel was injected with a locator beacon" 3. As much as I find this episode to be absolutely boring as FUCK. ....It does paint a good picture of how people might react if the stargate would become public knowledge ...Some people would be frightened about what it could mean ...Some would suffer from extreme cases of FOMO where they'd want to know everything ...It'd be chaos and could lead to an all out war ....Luckily Earth has somewhat dealt with the problem by informing other major countries (salutes) about the existence of the stargate ...But what would happen if those countries who aren't informed would learn about it ....This episode kinda shows what could happen in that case 4. Dictator Dude doesn't give a shit about helping "his" people... That's why he turned down the offer of food and medical supplies ...He wants control ....And in order to gain and keep control he needs weapons ...Even IF he knew where Daniel was ...I very much doubt he'd hand him over to the SGC cause Daniel would be a good bargaining chip to get more weapons 5. Ok this episode is already boring enough ...How about we just DON'T put a "Will Daniel hook up with the alien woman" story in there as well 6. Yeaaaahhh... Look at our boy Daniel being a smarty pants speaking Goa'uld over the radio to let Jack know the plan ....Luckily nobody listening in on that planet knows what Goa'uld sounds like given they've never heard it spoken out loud ....And luckily Teal'c was there to translate 7. How was Daniel able to communicate with the SGC you ask? .....Sam was trying to explain it to Jack but he cut her short ....Basically they'd been fiddling with the settings of the SGC communications system a bit until they were able to pick up and talk to Daniel 8. Daniel was right ...By shooting Dictator Dude they probably made him a martyr ...Martyr: a person who voluntarily suffers death as the penalty of witnessing to and refusing to renounce a religion...... Otherwise known as an idiot ....I'm sure these people will be fiiiiinnee

This is a good one time watch episode for me. An episode i enjoy the first time i watch but an episode i can easily just skip if i rewatch the show.

I think this is my least favourite episode in the entire Stargate Franchise (Excluding Stargate Origins/Infinity but we don’t talk about those). I just don’t care at all about the politics of this planet we’ve never seen before, after we’ve already done it once in a was that was done far better with Jonas’ planet. There’s just nothing in this episode for me to redeem it and it’s one i usually skip on a rewatch.

About what I said last week with Fraiser, I just wanted more closure. Maybe they could have added a few lines of dialogue on the camera before she died. Or maybe show their grieve more in episodes after that instead of just forgetting her. Just something more. I just really liked her and thought she deserved better but I'm just gonna move on from this subject now. Sorry if I was bothering you with it. I have trouble expressing my thoughts. I enjoyed this episode. It wasn't one of my favorites, but it was pretty decent. I liked how they experimented with the formula a bit, with it switching between the past and present. I love how Daniel always chooses to help people, no matter what, even if it gets him into major trouble. He just cares so much about other people and has a big heart. When I first started the show, I actually shipped Sam and Daniel. That obviously didn't happen, but it's probably for the best. I really love their friendship and dynamic a lot more. I'm actually really enjoying this season so far.
