General Progress Report
Added 2017-06-10 03:35:00 +0000 UTCThought I was mostly done for the day when I posted earlier. I was wrong.
The Allure of Wanton Cove:
Did a bit more work on this today. Had apparently screwed up one of the new ambient scenes in the tavern and that's fixed for the next major build. Mapped out a hand full of new minor scenes to be written. I'd have been happy with just accomplishing that much.
Inheritance:
Got a piece of code from Grayelf (He actually sent it to me on the 6th, but I completely missed it among all the chaos the last few days.) and it looks like we've got the random event code all written now. We just need to figure out how best to display it. Going to pull a little Q&A with him to figure out the rest of it. I'll likely be playing around with this tomorrow. While there's still a little work to do on this front, having the working code is a huge step towards the next build of this game. I'm not making any promises, but there's a very good chance the next build will be out by the end of this month.
The other stuff:
First, you guys are awesome. We just passed 400 Patrons. It fills me with a profound sense of joy to know so many of you are enjoying my work.
A Patron messaged me about where the wiki link was, which brought to my attention that I'd forgotten to make it easy to access for those interested. I added it to the Mission Statement above, in the "Other Stuff" section.
Looks like I don't have many responsibilities over the next week. As such, I hope to spend at least every other day working on projects. First priority will be to get the next build of Wanton Cove ready for testing. Second will be to get the random event stuff for Inheritance displaying properly (Still have to look at this, but there's a good chance all I need to do here is drop a bit of code into the locations in the game. Once I have some answers for what needs doing next, there's a good chance it will all come together in an hour or two.) Then third priority will be to finish up some content I started for a friend right before my trip, . . . still need to get back to that.
First priority tomorrow will be to try finishing up the next book entry for Wanton Cove, followed by plugging the new minor scenes I wrote into the game. After that, I'll wing it. :P
Comments
Random events have a 50/50 chance of triggering, In that particular area, the dog scene has a 1/46 chance of triggering if an event plays. So just a little better than a 1/100 chance of getting the scene. There are a total of 18 minor scenes that can play out in the bad part of town, some more common than others.
