Complete work stages on Norse-y trading-card illo!

In a post that's taken me a g-d hour to put up (thanks to g-d Firefox seemingly being unable to complete image posting on g-d Patreon), here are the complete work stages on a trading-card illustration of Marvel's character Valkyrie, drawn in 2006 for Upper Deck.

Posted the work stages in reverse order because, well, why not?

Line art by me, final colors by the fine lads of Guru eFX, who also colored Dirty Pair: Sim Hell Remastered, Gen13, Empowered, and Venom: The End for me, among our many collaborations.

Note that I was originally going to post this set a week ago, but grew unsure as to whether or not I'd already posted it months previously. (Behold, the perils of having a ginormous archive of daily Patreon posts, folks.) Wellp, no Patrons seemed to remember the piece, so I'm assuming this isn't a repeat post after all.

UPDATE: Come to think of it, she's kinda-sorta doing the patented Action Heroine Contemptuous Smirk, a tired, hackneyed, and well-nigh ubiquitous tension-deflating visual riff which I've grown to dislike intensely in the years since 2006. Ughhh. With one eyebrow partially raised, even worse! Oh, well. (I think I posted a lengthy, tweet-based essay here that detailed why I despise The Smirk so, but I couldn't dig that lone post outta my sprawling archive on short notice.)

TOMORROW ON THIS HERE PATREON: More Vintage Con Sketches, I'd assume.

Gorgeous!

Yeahp, I’d agree. Losing some special but hard-to-define quality in the rough’s facial expression during the transition to the final illustration is an all-too-common experience, I’ve found.

I love the facial expression in the initial sketch.

The Smirk is honestly not bad here and I didn't really notice it until you said so. The overall expression looks more like a Dio-esque 'Oh, you're approaching me?'
