VINTAGE CON SKETCHES: EMPOWERED illos circa 2012, pt.4
Added 2021-07-09 13:01:03 +0000 UTC2012 was, for the most part, the last year I was still doing these drawn-at-home commissions, so enjoy a few more weeks of high-quality pieces before the supply runs out, folks!
A few words:
TBH, I doubt the commissioner specified that Emp be depicted as freeing herself, but I did this just for a break from Emp's usual bedamseling. (For the nitpickers out there, I'd assume that chair would've snapped long before the ropes did, unless that thing's made outta metal and not wood; however, this approach made for a mo' dramatic image, so there ya go.)
Turns out I scanned a few roughs for some of these pieces; golly! Note, in the final sketch above, that obscuring Emp's shoulder with her hair really screwed up the image somehow, as opposed to the much clearer pose rough in which her shoulder isn't covered up.
Also, enjoy Emp's "big head" figure proportions, folks, as before long I started shifting to a very different depiction of her physique in the years that followed.
