DISTRESSED DAMSELS: EMPOWERED vol.12's secret identity shenanigans page!

Behold, folks, the concluding page of an Empowered vol.12 riff on secret identity tropes that were unused in the series as a whole; the previous two pages have already been previewed to the Big Spender Patreon tiers, by the way.

A few words:

This page is a riff on an especially amusing subcategory of "Superdickery" in which  Superman takes a break from tormenting Jimmy or Lois on a shocking and seemingly inexplicable cover illo in favor of tormenting Clark Kent on a shocking and seemingly inexplicable cover illo.

Note that the camera is from an earlier "secret identity tropes" Empowered vol.12 page which featured Civilian-Guise Emp as a suspiciously Peter-Parker-ish photographer at the "Planetary Bugle" newspaper.

However, I'm g-d infuriated by how I only now realized that, in place of the "NOT AN IMAGINARY STORY" blurb, I should've used the Empverse-specific "NOT A COUNTER-FACTUAL SCENARIO!" If I get a chance, I'll laboriously work up a lettering patch to switch out the phrases.

Next up is the page's rough:

...which, the extremely observant Patron might remember, uses an Distressed Emp pose traced from an earlier commissioned sketch set of a multiply lassoed Emp:

Yeahp, these somewhat random Emp DiD sketch sets I used to do for a generous and rough-sketch-appreciating friend often come in handy for poses I can reuse in the actual comic. Yay!

Anyhoo, that's it for this particular "unused capetrope"; onward to another!

TOMORROW ON THIS HERE PATREON: Prrrrrrrrobably work stages on another Empowered cover illo, though I might bump that a week or two in favor of a different post.

Somehow, I suspect even SuperEmpDickery will be self-deprecating and making fun of her body-image. Something like the time-loop hospital scene, sort of thing. OTOH, you could also have SED to be utterly off-the-rails unhinged loony Emp who's just letting all that stress out at the world. Oh dear...

Strypgia

Cannot wait to see what lead to this page. The anatomy and everything look amazing.

KranberriJam

Surprisingly fun! I might tack on more such Dickery throughout the volume, come to think of it.

For the record, Civilian Emp's hands were supposed to be tied with her bra straps, but I didn't leave enough open space to show said bra flapping around in the wind. THE TRAGEDY

lol she pantsed herself? This is a fun page. very much like an early spider woman cover haha

JKurt

He's changing his request style for a bit.

Like Empowered, Spinnerette has the rare quality that made me buy the lot after discovering it online. :-)

Ian Marsh

Now there is an entire fun category of sketch work. Super Emp Dickery!

Strypgia

I am entirely fine with that.

Strypgia

It's such a minor thing, but I love that Emp's got a real sense of strength to her form, where all of that practice with pose studies feels like it has taken your art to a whole other level here. A fun setup/angle too, this feels like it could be a hoot of an arc after the heavy V11.

Thanks for mentioning Gretta Gravity. I just googled her and discovered a really good webcomic I never knew existed before.

The Silver Socialist

That reminds me of the original Into the Spider-Verse event from the comics.

The Silver Socialist

Are you still doing the requests from December?

The Silver Socialist

George Lucas said there's no underwear in space. Adam says... no bras... period !!

Will_K

Great Scott! It's Nega-Emp!

Yildo

So...I have a theory. If Spooky's curse made our Emp...let's say Emp Prime...a bondage magnet attracting distress away from other Emp's across the multiverse, and if we think of that distress as a flow toward her then it stands to reason it comes from somewhere. Or someone. My theory is that the villain of Vol. 12 is a version of Emp with a dominate personality whose "dominess" was accelerated by the flow of distress toward Emp Prime, to the point she became the source of distress. And now she's striding across realities capturing her doppelgängers. With each new damsel her power grows.

Thanks, Adam! I absolutely love everything you've shared from volume 12 so far.

JoJack86

She’s turning into Greta Gravity!

Ian Marsh

I swear EMP gets more top heavy all the time!
