Excel LADZ - European Football Model

G'day, lads

I've put together a model that uses the live stats and the Poisson distribution to predict EPL, LaLiga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga and Seria A games. All in one dashboard!

UPDATE: Both 'Normal' and 'Legacy' files have been uploaded! The 'Legacy' file should work for ALL versions of Excel ๐Ÿ’ช

Simply select a league in cell A3, select the matchup from the dropdown list in G1 & G3, and the results will populate. To update the data, go into the 'Data' tab and select the "Refresh All" icon. This will refresh the power query's connection to the internet and import up-to-date stats.

I'm looking forward to writing an article and filming a video about how I made this model ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Hi lad! Apologies for the late reply ๐Ÿ˜” It's definitely a possibility to add in more leagues to this model. Perhaps in the short term I could create another worksheet for the more minor worldwide leagues ๐Ÿ”ฅ The video is dropping in about 12 hours, see if that helps you understand how the data is brought in and the predictions are made based off of the Poisson Distribution ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Hi, do you mind if i ask you to add the Primeira liga of Portugal ? since idk how to add if you dont mind pls

I might have been mistaken. It was late when I was doing it. I was just seeing the same issues here at work, but then found that once I changed leagues, and selected the teams for that league, it was fine again. Maybe I was messing that step up last night.

Hi lad, that's odd! If you're able to, please send me a screenshot through Discord so I can work out what's going on ๐Ÿ‘

For some reason, the sheet is broken on my home laptop, with the latest version of Excel (just bought for this stuff). But, it works on my work laptop, with a slightly older version of Excel. Very strange. I will investigate further, and update.

James

Great idea lad! I'll have a look at integrating this into future models ๐Ÿ’ช

One thought that I had, and was thinking about updating your spreadsheet to do, if I can figure it out fast enough... is to grab the upcoming games for the day (say, MLB), and then list the matches with the probabilities for every game of that day. For spreads, etc, list all for that day. I don't think it would be hard for you, but I have only just started looking at it, and I am not an Excel wizard. Thanks again Lad!

James

Wow. You did exactly what I was thinking about!
