Comic Report #96.2 - Let's Do The Time Warp Again
Added 2022-02-15 04:43:46 +0000 UTCHello again! I've got the textless final art to share with you tonight, which means the final page will probably go up in an hour or so. This page is a bit novel since there isn't really a lot of spoken dialogue, there's just some printed text on document paper which I decided to leave until after this post so there's still that reason to check the final page on the main site.
I'm actually quite pleased with how the final panel turned out. I'd initially worried about how I was going to blend the shot of the folder into a luxury apartment lobby. I let the shape of the folder and the paper take over and used some internal shapes and tones to imply the lobby and light coming through a door behind it and that ended up just working out exactly how I wanted it to. I let the line for the floor be the terminus point for the folders to help sell some depth, and I think that worked out to be a better breaking point than the jagged line above the characters' heads in the sketch phase.
One question I have to solve once this post goes up is how to handle the text on the paper. I want it to look typed and printed so using a font seems like the thing to do, but I've been hand-lettering for a while now and sticking a font back in there feels almost like cheating. I have a few ideas on how to blend it in but I'll leave that to be seen in a few moments.
