Just look at the 3 anchors he has made so far, two has been for detection one for radiance. now all three of them is likely broken. Also most notably is that one of them stopped working after it got swallowed by a beast. meaning it stopped working once it entered the beast domain. This could be important because it seems to indicate that they will not function inside a dungeon. So the hole idea of bringing an extra person inside a dungeon might not be a valid option. And when you think about it as well it does not make sense that they would create a spell that lets them bypass the hard rank of 8 players. So I think bringing an Anchor inside a dungeon is a nogo. it's still super useful though. but it also takes up a channel from PI. so the efficiency of them might go down the more you make, because it's harder to use more than one.

Either way I'm starting to like Vatreece, even when she's in mind gremlin mode. I'm glad the character assassination we got during her introduction a few chapters back didn't last too long.

2022-08-01 07:18:00 +0000 UTCSo Grannybrain’s (Vatreece construct) primary purpose is to teach Rain how to set up lasting mental defenses. The first step of that is turning Rain into a master of his soul as apparently the mind affects the soul, soul affects the body and vice versa. That is a reasonable first step as Rain has already surprised Vatreece by being able to make some mental defenses after he has entered his soul. Rain will need those mental defenses to survive the collapse of the thought shell intact (need to order Nails not to use any mental thing on Rain period, if they haven’t already, as while weak you don’t want to poke it). So mastering his soul (Reading so he can better see what he is doing) comes first and then working on the mind. Though since Vatreece is a genius Mentalist (thus her class gives her an easier time working with her mind), she probably started ordering her mind before moving onto soul and body. Rain doesn’t have a mental class and him being a Dynamo may do nothing or hinder him (though maybe he can use the sheer amount of crystal clear trivial info as a mental layer) from mind stuff but he it should be possible. Now what would really surprise Vatreece is if Rain would make progress with spell patterns enough to take control of Grannybrain construct (recharging it as a semi-permanent guest). That would be another surprise for Vatreece Rain has a grieved before her death.

Anchors are also attuned to a single aura - not super versatile - and making more to complete a set would take days at current speeds. There's a cap to how much he can do - though that could be worked around by some intense scripting such as what we saw in Three Cliffs, and if the anchor craft time can be brought to workable levels.

2022-08-01 01:47:33 +0000 UTCWould like to see a remark by the Warden about how he sees his system like a "computer" program and with math with his "strange" outworlder view, about how its really perfect and appropriate for how and what the system is (and maybe hint maybe maybe he can decode it enough and maybe crack it with how similar it is to the computer tech of his world and so they get to have finally a new administrator in the end who will begin to fix and calibrate it again and keep going and continue what the goal was by creating it by the guy who is not here anymore (world/reality thing to "save" this realm, she said the realm is fucked and "doomed" to end so they are a big problem with this world it seems With Anchor which seems with no "limit range" i can see in the future how Ascension can work when they grow. With him staying in the camp/tower/boat/bunker/city/castle cross-legged and every ascension member outside have an Anchor and a way of communication to him and he can spam defense aura/aoe spell/detect/regen thing That can be so bs, a whole system who takes advantage of that with his "army member", every Ascension Member (even the low low level) has Rain at their side "all time" to blast everything he have and can support them in so much way, he is everywhere and act like a tower defense supporting everyone while staying in his cave xD By the way, a very game changer to test for him, can he use Anchor (even multiple ones) when a group goes to a Lair? and support them with? so they have another high member in their group outside of the limitation of the number in Lair? and what happens if he connects with them like that in some way and they crash a Lair Core? gain another Accolade or big bug happen? :) He can become the ultimate support tower with unlimited range and be everywhere and "knowing" everything and blasting his support/defense and offense skills A nightmare to fight in large numbers on a large area (army/country style/war) Imagine when he gets to platinum or even just gold what it can represent that he is everywhere a low level of Ascension are, that get a really big deterrent to a lot of people and give so much aid to ascension in so many possible ways By the way, they are simple questions he really needs to ask about the fundamental of how it works and what is it to the Warden (preparing a list before the next meeting and spamming these simple questions in just 1-2 mn can really change a lot of things and grow massively his understanding and on what he need to work) (even basic yes/no answers on some of them can help so much) Like Essence, core, and experience, things like that, things he doesn't know and are veiled with the access of knowledge he can have and ask himself all the time, just simple answering on some of these fundamental questions can lift a lot of veil on a lot of things and he can work the detail after and the repercussion it can means "The Fleshsinger is in the Entin Theocracy, working in secret for the queen.." Ah that was one of my guesses, that he was alive and protected by a country ruler, kind of obvious and hinted (this is the only way he can still be here)

If T4 is the last available tier, then altering spell patterns or creating new ones would be a way for goldplates and platinumplates to improve their magic. Although using Thought Shell on others sounds like something that could come from the T4 Psionics capstone skill. As for Lerith, I guess it makes sense from a storytelling perspective to keep him alive, so Ameliah can resolve her character arc. Although I don't buy Vatreece's claim that she couldn't get to him. Rellagia obviously has awakened nobility, but I doubt they are on the level of the DKE. And Vatreece just strolled into the DKE, snuck up on a goldplate, hijacked him and another goldplate, while putting a third to sleep, in addition to five silverplates and a whole bunch of bronzeplates and unawakened. If Vatreece wanted to go to the theocracy to confirm the rumours of the Fleshsinger, not only would they be unable to stop her, but they wouldn't even notice. But again, good storytelling demands that Ameliah has to deal with Lerith.

2022-07-31 11:09:53 +0000 UTCI think I finally figured it out. Prismatic intent is leveling slowly because it's not directly consuming any mana. Other metamagic skills consume extra mana relative to the aura being used, but as far as I'm aware, prismatic intent only enables dual aura usage, and the only extra cost involved is the buildup of soot.

I'm thinking they could put a detection anchor on stuff they know is headed towards the castle where that Queen is. If Rain could figure out how to use it to identify people he has never met before, he could use it to confirm that guy's location, then they could send another item with an offensive aura anchor to take him out. Or am I remembering wrong how stuff works and this is not possible?

2022-07-31 06:39:38 +0000 UTCSo Lerith Singer (FleshSinger) is most likely on the continent of Rellagia in the Entin Theocracy which is more or less located centrally inland from Rellagia coast. Since he is working for the queen, that should mean he is relatively close to the capital or some other secure place. Makes a certain amount of sense for Lerith to be there (Rellagia) as there are treaties in Rellagia limiting awakened from participating in war. Would flesh/soul shaped/warped unawakened count as breaking the treaty then? Assuming she is using Lerith to make an army and not something else, she seems to think it has enough plausible deniability. Or otherwise thinks initiating a fast war to vastly increase their borders before the other countries know what hits them and calling a continent wide congress to renegotiate the treaties (assuming she isn’t considering to just conquer everything with the warped army Zerg rushing). So it seems that Rain may not need to use his last skill point on mana sight in anticipation of examining and unraveling the spell/skill matrixes. Rain has found a Dynamo alternative to examine them with mana manipulation and examine them in his soul. So he can instead choose something like elemental refinement, Empire of Will or an unknown skill from a Tier 4 in his specialized trees he hasn’t unlocked yet. Well it seems that Rain will have to get as much soul knowledge from Vatreece (Grannybrain construct) as he can before either putting it on power saving mode for the foreseeable future (until he is able to unravel the construct spell pattern and take ownership to get all knowledge available) or just having it fade away. Dozer may not be smart from people perspective but he is learning and is already a genius by crystal slime standard (essence slime now). Regardless, it seems the thought shell is a ticking time bomb as not only does Rain have to worry about it (mind purée) being triggered from external force but the spring loaded mind wipe will also trigger in a few months when thought shell naturally dissipates and he has insufficient mental defenses to weather the storm with no permanent damage. Maybe Grannybrain also has authority to unarm it if Rain reaches a sufficient level (though considering what a no nonsense old lady she is, I bet it is a sink or swim situation). Didn’t think Reading would be the first step but it makes sense as seeing what soul stuff you are doing is very helpful. But Ascension will then have to worry about keeping it a highest level, need to know, secret as it will bring the Guardians down on them if it gets out they have the knowledge. Ascension at least need to be a force with over a dozen gold plates as deterrent (and a sterling reputation) if not having a platinum plate to survive the repercussions of the knowledge they know Reading (and esoteric soul manipulation besides).
