So we've got ourselves an ancestral chem lair here, whose owners are all about to die under mysterious circumstances. If Ameliah keeps the lair intact, then Ascension could move in and claim it, at least for a while. Or maybe just Rain could come over, take Elemental Refinement, powerlevel it to refining chemical mana, and then pour enough mana into the lair that it starts making blues every couply days. Awaken all the cervidians and then take them into Ascension for protection.

2022-10-30 13:45:39 +0000 UTCI hope we get an explanation for how they ended up finding the village, more than just a lucky break, although we do see hints in the chapter that someone may know some divination. Also, doesn’t Ameliah have a fairly foreign looking appearance (at least compared to fel sadanians?) I really can’t remember but if so it would make it harder to believe she’s just a random village girl.

2022-10-30 13:08:48 +0000 UTCWith the comment about how rich they are, i find it unlikely that it's for mony they do that, seem more to have some card and etc for negociate with the Adamant (who it seem burned their city and as of now they retreated here and wait the storm/war finish to pass) so if Adamant win they can have some little favor and licking their ass with presenting Cervidien andler and try to rehave their area and get incorporated into Adamant society

Intelligence gathering will be key for all this of course, who knows what, who happens to be off site at the moment, and who's strong enough to be a threat or escape will all need to be determined. Would be a shame to miss someone. All of them deserve their reward, of course.

The Empire’s bounty isn’t going anywhere and it seems like they aren’t hurting for cash too much at the moment so they can take as much time as they need to maximize their profits.

2022-10-30 06:06:54 +0000 UTCI wonder if Rain will take elemental refinement to rapidly recharge the lair core and enact a mass awakening on everyone (Cervidians, Ascension, family members who are along but not part of Ascension…)? It is a kata so Rain probably wouldn’t be able to level it up quick enough to warrant the wait (plus he has a tight schedule of keeping his mind secure from the dead man switch ticking down) unless this lair is the elemental aspect of the first level. Could also try going through Ameliah but it should have been a lower priority skill so she doesn’t have many levels in it last we heard (Essed Frostbarrows). In any case, having a lair here doesn’t change the plan of leaving the continent even if it is a shame they can’t farm the lair properly due to lacking the right skill level.

2022-10-30 05:59:28 +0000 UTCSeems the culprits are refugee nobles from Northharbor that retreated to their ancestral lair (any long lasting noble family seems to have at least one personal lair) and coincidentally found the Cervidians. The biggest threat should be the grandfather who is likely to be silver though shouldn’t be too troublesome as long as hostages aren’t taken. We don’t really know the pricing on horn sizes but if they are going through the effort to awaken them and have them grow, should at least be profitable after taking into account minimum rations and effort of holding them. Plus they seem to be hunkered into this place so perhaps they decided it isn’t too troublesome if they are staying here anyway. Plus they need money to “reestablish their oh so noble household” that is going through a rough time from the war. Guess it was a long shot to have Lerith search for test subjects across continents as the logistics would be impractical unless they had some great translocationists. After all, don’t need to search overseas to avoid the eyes of rival neighbors when the poor are available. Edit: although it wouldn’t be impossible (though very unlikely) for them to be part of the Singer family (the family Lerith initially originated and stole his class info from). Or maybe they pilfered some class info from Northharbor as they left. Would be nice to have any concrete info on Lerith’s class even though Ascension is nowhere near ready to plan against him (need high silver team if not gold due to ties to a country). Still has value of adding another (rare most likely) Class to Ascension’s archive even though the chance of someone being allowed to get it is low due to rare class restrictions, need of medical knowledge and nasty things it can do if misused (looking at you Lerith).

Edit: It doesn’t see too uncommon to try and awaken Cervidian (at least the idea) for more money as Proudrock was an example in the Adamant countryside. They were ignorant of it requiring awakening so actually carrying the idea out requires having a lair (bronze tier as silver is too valuable) and ability to guard them so they don’t escape. They can also make a maximum length they will tolerate as beyond that would risk escape. So carrying out the idea is troublesome if you do not have the right preparations.

Looks like they already killed Proudrock since he already had his antlers grown out and likely a higher level than the blue they have access to. At least he's the only casualty so far.
